Killunary is the het ship between Killua Zoldyck and Canary from the Hunter x Hunter fandom.
Canon[]
When Canary first became a butler at the Zoldyck estate, she introduced herself to Killua, and he took an interest in her. He asked her to speak to him informally, but she refused as it was inappropriate considering they were master and servant. In the anime version, they discussed Canary's hometown of Meteor City. After that, Killua showed off one of his assassination techniques and offered to teach it to Canary. In the next scene, Canary revealed that she already knew the technique during a fight and apologized for acting impressed by Killua. He quickly forgave her and then asked if she would be his friend. She smiled and was about to accept when she felt Kikyo's presence watching them, warning her not to accept. Canary declined Killua's offer, to which he responded by calling her lame and running off.
Years later, when Killua returns home after the Hunter Exam, he informs Canary that he finally made a friend.
During the Zoldyck arc, Kikyo forces Canary to keep Gon and the others from rescuing Killua. Gon can instantly tell that Canary cares for Killua, saying that her eyes softened when his name was mentioned. After Gon sees through her act, she cries and begs Gon to help Killua before being knocked unconscious by Kikyo.
At the end of the Zoldyck family arc, Canary is sad to see Killua leave again but smiles when she hears him laughing with Gon.
Canary returns in the election arc to assist Killua in saving Gon and freeing Alluka. Though they have no dialogue, Canary is shown to be utterly loyal to Killua. She vows to give her all in supporting him since he is relying on her, and everything she does in the arc is ultimately for his sake. At the end of the arc, she insists on sparing Killua the knowledge of the death of his father figure, Gotoh, even going so far as to hire a shape-shifting replacement for him.
Fanon[]
The ship is quite small and gets hate from fans who are against shipping Killua with a girl (or anyone other than Gon). Those who do support the ship view Canary's devotion to Killua as unrequited love. Canon never confirms how Killua feels about Canary aside from trusting her, leaving fan works to interpret his side of the relationship.
The ship currently has over 60 works in AO3. It is also the most written ship for Canary.
