Kinilani is the het ship between Kinich and Mualani from the Genshin Impact fandom.

Mualani and Kinich are both playable characters from the Natlan region. They knew each other prior to the Traveler coming to Natlan and are stated to be friends.
In the first part of Natlan's first Archon quest, Mualani and Kinich are both waiting for Kachina to arrive at the Stadium of the Sacred Flame. After Kachina tells them about how she doesn't have any teammates, Mualani asks Kinich to lead her team so she can join Kachina, showing her trust in him. He accepts, but tells her she has to break the news to her team.
After signing up for the Pilgrimage, Kinich and Mualani go eat with Kachina, Paimon, and the Traveler at the Weary Inn. Paimon says it seems like the two of them really look out for Kachina. Mualani says she thinks winning once could give Kachina the confidence she needs, and Paimon asks if that was what happened to Mualani. Mualani says she was simply born confident, but Kinich says she is being modest, as she is already a three-time veteran of the Night Warden Wars who's never had to be resurrected. A bit after, Kinich tells Mualani not to go overboard, as everyone needs to be up early the next day. Mualani giggles and says "if only we had a friend who never oversleeps..." and Kinich yields and says he will wake everyone up the next day.
The next day, Mualani says it's Ajaw's fault if Kachina doesn't do well at the Pilgrimage because Ajaw was being too loud. Ajaw complains about this, but Kinich agrees with Mualani.
Both have shown they respect the other as an opponent, with Mualani saying Kinich is "a formidable competitor" and Kinich mentioning that Mualani is a three-time veteran of the Night Warden Wars to Paimon and the Traveler.
In the 5.1 archon quest, they are seen next to eachother during the "Break Before Dawn" cutscene.
During Mavuika's Story Quest (Sol Invictus Chapter), the Traveler and Mavuika visit the People of the Springs where they notice Kinich, Ajaw, Mualani, and, Kachina fishing together.

Fanon[]
Overall, Kinilani is a popular pairing in Genshin Impact fandom. People began shipping the pair shortly after the release of Genshin Impact's Version 5.0 Archon quests due to them having interactions and appearing to be friends. Fans have found Kinich and Mualani are quite compatible with each other: they have a typical energetic-stoic dynamic, a dynamic well-loved in ships. Their color palettes compliment one another, being mainly green and blue. They also share the similarity of both having an animal motif. They are the first two Natlan 5-stars to be released, and due to their established friendship and interactions, many fans enjoy shipping them.
Some fans depict Kinilani in a found-family context with Kachina, as Kinich and Mualani canonically watch over her. Many jokes were also made, comparing them to Gwen Stacy and Spider-Man. In Kachina's profile, her voicelines about Kinich mention that Mualani had first introduced him to her and that he had once protected her from her bullies. Many fans see this as Kachina's big sister's boyfriend being protective over his girlfriend's little sister.
Fans also noticed that Kinich always seems to be looking at Mualani in game, even though if she wasn't talking. In Act I of the Natlan Archon Quest, fans also noticed that Kinich was smiling at Mualani when he makes the comment about oversleeping. In Mualani’s voice lines she mentions that she is an over-sleeper.
After the finishing the Archon quest, some fans started to compare Kinilani to HuXiao due to their dynamic of a playful girl and serious guy being quite similar. The two have even been compared to ships from other fandoms, such as ObaMitsu, again because of their dynamic but being viewed more as sweet and stoic in this case. This has given Kinilani the fan nickname "ObaMitsu in another Universe". The majority of fans compare them to SasuSaku, this has also given Kinilani the fan nickname "SasuSaku in another Universe". The reason behind this is that Kinich's Japanese voice actor voices Sasuke and Mualani's Japanese voice actor voices young Sasuke, although the latter fact is not widely known. Other fans compare them to DanMarch because Kinich somewhat resembles Dan Heng and Mualani's personality is similar to March 7th's.
Kinilani currently has 162+ works on AO3. It is currently both Kinich and Mualani's most written ship.

- The ship name "SunSky", "SunHeaven" and "Heavenly Sun" are made because Kinich's name likely named after Kinich Ahau, the Yucatec name of the Maya sun god while Mualani's name is an ancient Hawaiian high chiefess and princess of Koʻolau Range. Lani means "sky" or "heaven" in Hawaiian
- The ship name "PixelSeal" is created by fans that combines parts of Kinich and Mualani's designs, "Pixel" is emphasized by Kinich's Clothing while "Seal" is emphasized on Mualani's headband and Constellation "Phoca Neomonachus." refers to the scientific name of seals.

This is surprising because it's the first time, a female character blushed at a male character which is not The Traveler.
- If you put Mualani and Kinich's splash art next to each other, it will look like they were holding hands but got censored.
- They were both seen next to eachother in Mavuika's splash art.
