Season 1[]
THE NAKED TIME
Spock infects Kirk with the disease, himself overcome with emotions. Kirk says that his emotions, love specifically, and that he's better off without his own love as well. The Enterprise. He says he gives everything to her, but all she does is take from him. She won't let him live a life, and must continue to live hers.
Season 2[]
I, MUDD
Kirk tells the Alice that the crew wants the Enterprise. Alice says that it's not a want or desire, but a thing. Kirk is offended and calls the ship a "beutiful lady" and that they love her. This confuses Alice and she leaves to try and figure out what he means.
Season 3[]
ELAAN OF TROYIUS
McCoy enters the bridge and tells Spock that he was able to find a cure for Kirk, however Spock says that Kirk has found his own. The antidote being a starship. As Kirk's love for the Enterprise infected him long before the Dolham did. McCoy jokes that there's no antidote for the Enterprise, which Spock agrees with.

Kirk x Enterprise, for many, is the only successful relationship that Kirk has ever had. Given how often it is stated in the series that Kirk loves the Enterprise more than his love interests, there's a lot of canonical support for the cargo ship. While most cargo ships tend to be jokes within fandoms, the relationship between Kirk and the Enterprise is taken more seriously by the fandom. At least in the metaphorical sense. As shipping it romantically is not taken seriously, while discussion of how Kirk uses the Enterprise as a possible shield for potential romances is. Some Spirk shippers often see Kirk's love for the Enterprise as a way to also hide his feelings for Spock. As the only person he ever gave up the Enterprise for was him. On AO3, there are currently 30+ written works.
