Kisaita is the slash ship between Kisame Hoshigaki and Itachi Uchiha from the Naruto fandom.
Canon[]
Kisame and Itachi are partners in the criminal organization Akatsuki. Both of them are S-rank missing nins. Initially, Itachi and Kisame's relationship was marked by hostility. Itachi regarded Kisame as a mere brute, while Kisame warned Itachi to stay away from him if he didn't want to be killed.
Despite their different personalities and approaches in battle, Itachi and Kisame developed a form of respect for each other over time, and hardly fight over their differences, for example, the fact that Kisame loves fighting much more than Itachi does. In a couple of occasions, Itachi told Kisame they were leaving in the middle of a battle and Kisame obeyed, despite him wanting to carry on. They end up making a fearsome duo, Itachi's intelligence and genjutsu skills complementing Kisame's brute strength.
Itachi and Kisame's debut as duo occurs during the Search for Tsunade Arc. They are seen strolling leisurely around the village, wearing hats that cover their faces and the Akatsuki red cloud cloak. The pair is tasked with capturing Naruto Uzumaki. At some point they are confronted by Kurenai and Asuma. Kisame fights Asuma and Kurenai fights Itachi as they both are genjustu experts. However, Itachi and Kisame are noticeably stronger than them, and soon dominate the fight until Kakashi arrives. Itachi asks Kisame to be careful of the Sharingan and uses Mangekyo Sharingan to trap Kakashi in a nightmare realm called Tsukuyomi, where he tortures him, leaving him vulnerable. When Maito Gai joins the fight and stops Samehada from hitting Kakashi, they see they are outnumbered and flee, saying they didn't go there to start a war.
In Naruto Shippuden, both appear again during the Kazekage Rescue Mission Arc as clones, while their real bodies stay sealing the One-Tail in the Gedo statue. Team Gai fights Kisame's clone and his water release techniques while Kakashi, Sakura, Naruto and Chiyo fight Itachi's clone. This was done only as a distraction until Gaara's Tailed Beast was completely extracted and sealed.
Later they briefly appear together sealing the Two-Tails in the Gedo Statue.
In Itachi Pursuit Mission Arc, Kisame and Itachi are seen after having captured the Four-Tails Jinchuuriki, Roshi, who is shown unconscious, hanging from Samehada. As they seal him, they inform them about Sasuke betraying Orochimaru and starting a group called Hebi with former Orochimaru followers. That group's purpose was to find Itachi.
After Sasuke fight with Deidara, where he blew himself up, Kisame tries to comfort Itachi for the loss of his brother, to which Itachi replies that Sasuke isn't dead. When Sasuke finally meets and kills Itachi, Kisame laments his death and says he will miss him and considered him a true friend. Zetsu wonders if Kisame will remain loyal after Itachi's death.
In the last moments of his life, where he killed himself using the water prison on himself and adding sharks, Kisame thought of Itachi, and reflected on how no one truly knows oneself until the moment of their death, and wondered if Itachi had the same thoughts before dying.
Itachi was briefly revived by the Edo Tensei during the Fourth Shinobi World War. Itachi saw Killer Bee with Samehada, which is the sword that Kisame had been using before it changed allegiance to Killer Bee. Itachi surmised that Kisame must be dead since his sword was in another's possession.
Fanon[]
Because they are canonical Akatsuki partners, Kisame and Itachi are a relatively popular ship, being Kisame's most popular ship and Itachi's top 5 ship. On AO3, there are over 1,100 works for the pairing.
A portion of the fandom often headcanons the Boruto character Shizuma Hoshigaki as their child due to how he bears a striking resemblance to the two of them. Shizuma also is a part of the Hoshigaki clan.
