Dinah and Wrench do not interact very often in any version of the show. They have a few minor interactions during "Dinah's Disco", but rarely anything of note. The Wembley Park production added a few moments, with Wrench being there when Dinah is asked to race with Electra. Though this doesn't last very long, and Wrench is also there when she breaks away from Electra.

Kitchen Repair is a common ship in the StEx fandom. Mostly due to the two having limited interactions in the show. Meaning that most fans base the ship on behind the scenes pics or their own personal interpretations of the characters. The name Kitchen Repair comes from Dinah being a dining car, and Wrench being a repair truck. It is sometimes a background element of the larger polycule that would ship Dinah with Electra and their components as well. Its rival ships include GreaseDinah and Electronents.
Some fans like the idea of Wrench and Dinah becoming friends during the brief time that Dinah was with Electra. Or after the events of the show itself. Some also prefer the idea of Dinah having a more serious partner than Greaseball, and that Wrench would fit that description. Other shippers like the idea of Dinah realizing that she's a lesbian after the show and ending things with Greaseball (outside of the Wembley production). Moving onto Wrench who helps her with her sexuality that eventually leads to them getting together.
A common trope in fics is Dinah being taken care of by Wrench. As Wrench as a repair truck she would be more equipped for this. Some also like the idea of her doing this on her own due to her love for Dinah, and going stricktly against Electra's orders for it.
On AO3, Kitchen Repair is the sixth most written ship for both Dinah and Wrench. There are currently 6 written works.
