KiyoMei is the ship between Hiyama Kiyoteru and Meiko from the Vocaloid fandom.
Canon[]
Kiyoteru and MEIKO are both vocal synthesizers for the vocaloid software. Albeit, developed by two different companies. MEIKO was originally developed by Yamaha Corporation, later distributed by Crypton Future Median Inc.. Hiyama Kiyoteru was developed and distributed by AH-Software Co. Ltd.
Unlike Meiko, Kiyoteru has an official profile which states: Kiyoteru is a teacher who is good at mathematics and participates in a rock band called “Ice Mountain” on weekends. According to this default configuration of his V2 software package, Kiyoteru was raised by Kiyoshi, a catholic priest who adopted him. Although he’s described as a good-natured man who’s a bit shy and friendly, he assumes a more daring and cool personality when he removes his glasses. (However, despite his official profile, vocaloid personalities and relationships can still be interpreted by fans).
Songs[]
Kiyoteru and Meiko don’t have a lot of original songs together compared to a lot of vocalist duos. There has only been one original song sung by both vocalists (though not well known), called “Dark Monday” by keystone(DES_) on nicovideo. Not much is known about the songs since the lyrics have yet to be translated but judging by the PV, it’s about the stressful environment of office workers (portrayed somewhat comedically).
However, there is a song called “MEIKO”, produced by ShoshoP [1]. It's an alternative to “Miku’s Serenade” and is tagged as a original Kiyoteru song on nicovideo. In that song, Kiyoteru describes his feelings for Meiko; how he loves her and vows to look after her.
In the Evillious Chronicles, a series of vocaloid songs based on the 7 deadly sins that were also adapted into novels, one of those stories was “Escape of Salmhofer Witch”. In that story, Meiko portrays a witch named Meta Salmhofer and Kiyoteru portrays a serial killer named Pale Noël. Meta falls in love with Pale and joins his criminal organization. Pale, while originally sleeping with Meta and other women to sustain his youth, appeared genuinely loved Meta and the two committed crimes together. As Meta was the selected candidate for ‘Project Ma’, she gave birth to twins. Four days later after giving birth, Meta escaped the laboratory that was being attacked by remnants of Apocalypse with Pale and her newborn children. As they were escaping in the foggy night, Pale became sluggish and collapsed. Meta realized the fog was a sleeping gas, though she and the babies remained unaffected. Pale urged Meta to leave him behind before passing out. Meta reluctantly continued on alone and escaped into the night.
Fanon[]
KiyoMei isn't very popular due KaiMei's overwhelming popularity. Other rival ships include MeiLuka, KaiKiyo and KiyoGaku. It is generally shipped alongside KaiMiku, as a solution to KaiMiku and KaiMei shipping wars. The ship also go well with other popular het ships such RinLen and GakuLuka. Some people also see potential on the ship, with MEIKO being portrayed with a strong personality while Kiyoteru being more quiet. There are also some people who headcanon Yuki as their daughter. The ship actually has 10 fanfics in AO3.
