Knifan is the slash ship between Knife and Fan from the Inanimate Insanity fandom.

Inanimate Insanity II[]
When Trophy asks Knife for some ventilation while relaxing on a sunny day, Knife pulls out Fan and uses him as a fan. Fan asks to be put down, making Knife throw him up into the air. Trophy commands Knife to keep fanning as Knife catches Fan and briefly continues. Right when Fan starts feeling dizzy, Knife rebels against Trophy and puts Fan down. This excites Fan as he calls it a suspenseful twist and eats popcorn. When Knife talks to Trophy about the picture he's being blackmailed with, Fan is confused at first on what he's referring to. Trophy later shows the forementioned picture to everyone else which makes Fan laugh at first, although he changes his mind when Baseball defends Knife.
After MePhone4 leaves the contestants around the time he would normally start a challenge, Fan paces to himself thinking of why he would do so. Knife points out how MePhone left them in the last two challenges, although Fan excuses him for doing so because of the circumstances. As Knife thinks otherwise, Fan begins to think that there's a bigger reason to why MePhone is trying to buy some time. Knife continues to doubt Fan's observations as Fan continues to emphasize that there must be a reason as to why MePhone is acting differently. After Fan begins to think that the world around them is changing because the people are, Knife mocks him and walks away.
As Fan is writing on his laptop about his egg starting to crack, Knife closes the laptop and tries to get Fan to look up at the sunset. Fan, thinking that Knife is trying to tell him he's not paying attention, angrily shows Knife the egg's cracks that occurred earlier that day. After being asked by him if he dropped it, Fan tells Knife that it's a sign that the world is changing around him. Baseball interrupts them with a comment about getting dropped by people, making Knife and Fan stare at him. Afterwards in the challenge, Fan tries to pay more attention to his surroundings, particularly after noticing Knife while talking to Test Tube.

Knifan is a fairly known ship in the show's shipping community, although more usually in the sense of the two respective characters' ships. The ship mainly grew within slash shippers of the show, highlighting many of their scenes commonly reflecting on the theme of change. Even though they do not share as many scenes together as some of the other characters respectively, the ship still grew within the fandom's platforms. Fan art of the two commonly place them in a romantic manner together, portraying them in a more understanding manner than seen in the show with fanfics usually doing the same. The pairing is rivaled by those such as Fantube and Knickle.
On AO3, as of December 7, 2024, there are 42 works under their romantic tag and 8 under the platonic tag. It is the 4th most written ship for Knife and the 5th most for Fan.
