Knifecase is the het ship between Knife and Suitcase from the Inanimate Insanity fandom.

Canon

Knife and Suitcase are both contestants in Season 2. Both were in the same team, the Grand Slams, until the merge.

In Cooking for the Grater Good, Suitcase congratulates Knife for his safety during elimination time. Knife initially looked angry then became happy and replied "Thanks". When Trophy gets mad that he got eliminated and squishes Box, Suitcase tells him that he's a monster and is jealous that Box is still in the game. Trophy tells her to shut up and Suitcase sits down and replies "Ok". Knife stands up to Trophy's attitude and kicks him to the portal.

In Let 'Er R.I.P., Knife teases Suitcase and Balloon that it looked like they saw a ghost. Suitcase freaks out, Knife chuckles and tells the two he's messing with them. Suitcase tells him that the challenge is not to be scared. Knife replies that Suitcase doesn't trust him and he'll leave her with Balloon who, sarcastically commented, was trustworthy in Season 1.

In Everything's A-OJ, Suitcase tells Knife that his sarcastic comments aren't making his reputation any better and that he should try a 'random act of kindness'. Knife didn't take Suitcase's comment well, questioning why people want to change him, and told Suitcase to mind her business.

In Mazed and Confused, after the contest is over and it is revealed to be a tie, Knife questions why he showed up to which Suitcase replies "For us, your friends!". Knife responds with a grunt.

In Kick the Bucket, Knife looks down to see Suitcase sad and then gives a worried look. After the challenge ends, Knife sees Suitcase near the dock and talks to her about what he saw. Suitcase sarcastically replies that he's a good friend, in return, Knife replies that he never claimed to be. Knife questions Suitcase why she puts up with the alliance if they never listen to her. Suitcase rebuts this saying that Nickel did listen to her, but it cost her so much time. Knife tells her that she got set up: Baseball and Nickel knew Balloon would fail the challenge, use it as an excuse to eliminate him, and it doesn't make her "look odd" either. Suitcase, in a sarcastic tone, tells him that he's great at being cynical and that it must make him happy in a paradoxical way. Knife then says it does, but then adds that for Suitcase to be happy, she needs to impress people who she perceives as 'jerks'. Suitcase rhetorically questions Knife that's what he calls himself. Knife replies that there's more than one way to be a jerk. Suitcase states that she made her choice and Knife then tells her to stick to it and make her presence known. After it's revealed who got eliminated, Suitcase talks to Balloon and refers back to Knife's comment on making her presence known. After Elimination, Knife begs the question to Suitcase: "What is an alliance to you?"

In Hatching the Plan, during the challenge part, Suitcase mentions how easy it should be since they have all been to space, and Knife comments that MePhone ditched them again before giving them any parts yet gave them a challenge. Later on, Knife and Suitcase are shown to be working together with Knife tearing up pieces of the Soda machine while Suitcase catches them and brings them to the other contestants. After Test Tube goes to the rocket to save Fan, Knife talks to Suitcase and Baseball about the possibility of Test Tube failing the challenge and to vote her off if she does. Suitcase agrees with Knife's plan.

In Truth or Flare, Lightbulb mentions how Baseball, Knife, and Suitcase come up when they are vulnerable, with Knife calling it a 'random act of kindness' and pointing to Suitcase when he said, "This one taught me", which Suitcase is shown smiling. When Lightbulb puts the InvisiBow to Suitcase, Suitcase starts hyperventilating and Knife nabs it away from her and breaks it. During the challenge, when Taco questions the others if anyone trusts Knife currently, we see Knife looking at Suitcase in a panic. Suitcase looks away and Knife is shown to be disappointed after the truth is revealed. During elimination time, Suitcase had the choice to choose Baseball or Knife to bring in the Finale. Suitcase first questions Knife if her time with her during the dock was wanting to help her or if it was a tactic to help him get further in the game. Knife answers that while he wouldn't said it if wasn't 'advantageous', he didn't like what he saw in that moment and genuinely wanted to help her. It's revealed that Suitcase chooses Knife, saying that his talk on the dock gave her strength, believing that's what an alliance is to her, and it's something that she'll always be grateful for. After Baseball goes to the Portal, Knife tells Suitcase to not beat herself up for not choosing Baseball. Suitcase replies saying that Baseball went easy on her and hopes Knife won't. Knife chuckles, bringing up how she knew she had a strong presence in the game for a while and that day didn't make him see any differently. Suitcase feels indifferent, not sure why he didn't bring up Taco and whether Knife wants to help others or not. Knife then questions why she chose him, to which Suitcase replies it as a 'random act of kindness'. Knife chuckles at the comment. Near the end of the episode, both of them exchange glances and smile at each other.

In The Reality of the Situation, Knife and Suitcase are shown walking together to Hotel OJ. While Paper and OJ were talking, they gave each other a smile. After Suitcase tries to chase down MePhone, Suitcase and Knife are sitting at the couch together, with Suitcase venting on to Knife about Balloon and Nickel's relationship and her questioning about it not being right. When both were called for their final challenge, MePhone talks about how Knife and Suitcase should be going to Meeple Headquarters yet Knife disrupts him by saying they been there before with Suitcase adding on that's how she got MePhone's battery, with Knife clarifying that she stole it, with Suitcase enthusiastically saying she did. During the blimp ride, Knife is shown to comfort and advising Suitcase with her troubles and while they land there they had a small banter on how they're gonna win the show and both go on their separate ways as they enter Meeple Headquarters. Later on in the episode, they reunite and both went inside a room where they talk to MePhone3GS and seem to be together throughout the course of the episode.

In Through No Choice of Your Own, Knife and Suitcase were put in a room together by Cobs. During their time on the room, Suitcase talks about how everything is all fake which Knife is shown to coming closer to Suitcase and giving her what it looks to be a hug, Suitcase questions what Knife was doing until Knife tears her apart. It’s revealed to only be a hallucination, as Knife tries to wake up Suitcase and tell her if she’s still with him. When Toilet tries to tell Suitcase and Knife about the situation, Knife tells Toilet to go away. Which leads to Knife and Suitcase having a banter. When Apple, possessed by Bow, breaks into the place, Suitcase in shock asks Knife to which Knife replies that he also sees it. Knife and Suitcase are shown to small banter again until the clock ticks down, Knife tells Suitcase he can’t protect her anymore with Suitcase telling him she never needed it. Later on, Knife and Suitcase were forced to fight to the death by Cobs but it was all revealed to be an act just so Toilet and AppleBow get their hands of what controls the simulation. Before Toilet unplugs the wire, Knife is shown placing his hand on top of Suitcase staring at her while smiling. Once the ship disappears, both Knife and Suitcase are shown falling together while they glitched out.

In Objects in Mirror, Knife and Suitcase reunite when she recovers all the other characters. Knife shows Suitcase the cherry-flavored grenade at the picnic table. While Suitcase was talking about the plan on how to get out, Knife walks up the Suitcase and points out to Suitcase what was up in the air, which was the egg. While talking about the egg, Suitcase was shown with a worry look and Knife reassures her with what Suitcase said in EP17, "Never give up on anyone?" with Suitcase giving him a nod. When all the characters inside of Mephone get to the track course, Suitcase tells Knife that she'll see him on the other side with Knife nodding what she said. As Knife and Suitcase were running together and close to the finish line, Suitcase asks if they got everyone, Knife tells her that he gets it and wonders if Suitcase trusts him, Suitcase tells him she does. As it's revealed that Knife is a ghost, Suitcase goes up to him and Knife tells her that he sacrificed himself so Marshmallow can stay alive. As Suitcase gives a speech of encouragement to others, she then looks up at Knife and tells her she's not giving up on him. After the end of the Spoiled Lemon concert, Suitcase is shown looking up at the roof and goes up to see Knife. Suitcase asks how Knife is going and hoping that she might be able to bring Knife back alive, Knife reassures her that he's here in the mansion. Suitcase starts to get another hallucination and Knife tries to touch her, which stops it. Suitcase then shows and reads Knife the poem that Balloon wrote for her, Knife sarcastically comments on how Balloon can't rhyme, but Suitcase tells Knife that he was always there for her. Knife tells her too not dig deep into it and was simply a "random act of kindness", both of them throw a laughing fit and they're seen going down. The end credits of this episode shows a couple of scenes, from the past two episodes, with Knife and Suitcase together.

Fanon

Before Episode 15 of Inanimate Insanity Season 2, Knifecase was considered to be a rarepair, having a relatively small fanbase. But when Truth or Flare was released, it gained more attraction towards the fandom most likely for their talks during the course of the episode. Knifecase has grown a high rise of popularity since Episode 17, Through No Choice of Your Own.

• Knife and Suitcase’s plushies are now released on November of 2024.
• Brian Koch in his LIVE Q&A - "Truth or Flare", talks about how Knife and Suitcase are meant to be opposites and are bonded very closely.
• Brian Koch in his Inanimate Insanity II: The Movie Q&A mentions that he enjoys writing Knife and Suitcase and also sees them as THE central duo for a long time.
• Both of them were manipulated by other characters: Knife being blackmailed and was a slave to Trophy, while Suitcase with Nickel during Episode 8 and Episode 11.
• It’s mentioned in the official Inanimate Insanity website that Knife shows his softer side by his willingness to provide emotional guidance to others. Which in episode 11, we see that with Knife and Suitcase during the dock scene.

• Justin Chapman, one of the directors of II and voice actor of Knife, had liked a (deleted) Knifecase art on Twitter back in 2020.
• Justin Chapman named one of their streams on Youtube featuring Knifecase in the title.
• During one of Justin Chapman Streams, “Screaming, Crying, and Knifecase | Episode One", they talked about their dynamic and how much they enjoyed the two’s relationship around 2:09:10-2:11:40.
• In Brian Koch's stream "Inanimate Insanity II: Episode 18 LIVE CHAT", Brian mentions that Suitcase tries to visit Knife "all of the time" Post-Finale.
  • Brian also answers a question related to a scene in Episode 14, commenting on how Knife has a soft spot for Suitcase and is quite protective of her. Brian said that Knife being jealous at that scene with Baseball and Suitcase at the dock together is up for interpretation.
