KuroNeo is the het ship between Chrollo Lucilfer and Neon Nostrade from the Hunter x Hunter fandom.

Canon[]

Neon and Chrollo met only one time in Hunter x Hunter - in episode 51 (episode 60, when talking about 1999 version). However this meeting had a big impact on both of them - and on the shipping side of the fandom.

After finding out that her dad lied to her and wasn't going to take her to the auction after all, Neon sneaks out from the mall, in disguise. As she walks to the exit, we can see Chrollo tracking Nostrade with a picture of her in his hand. Soon afterwards, when Neon's stuck without a way to get past the gate, Lucilfer 'accidentally' drives by. He ends up taking her to the auction.

Later on, we can see Neon and Chrollo already in the auction building, sitting by one of the tables and talking. Lucilfer starts a conversation, saying that he heard she's a good fortuneteller. It leads to the main purpose of Chrollo's meeting with Nostrade - she agrees to predict his future. Neon tells him to write his full name, date of birth and blood type on a sheet of paper. After he does it, she reads his name out loud, then saying that he has a strange name. Chrollo tells her that his friends call him "boss". It makes Neon laugh and say that it's even stranger. Lucilfer (sincerely) smiles a little on that comment.

After that, Nostrade activates her Nen and writes her prediction in her notebook, while Chrollo watches steadily her every move. Then Neon gives him the prophecy, telling him that her fortunes are a little weird and usually have four or five verses. "Each one corresponds to a week of the month, so the first may have already happened."

When Lucilfer reads one of his predictions, a tear trickles down his face. Neon quickly spots it, but remains silent. Chrollo tells her that it's amazing and correct, then wipes his cheek. When he says "about the first sentence", probably wanting to read his prophecy out loud, Neon rapidly tells him to stop. She tells him that she never looks at the fortunes she writes. When Lucilfer asks her why, she answers that she has a feeling they're more accurate, if she stays away from them.

When Nostrade agrees to Chrollo's request to ask her something, he says that one verse from the prophecy refers to a requiem for the dead. Then he asks her, if she believes in the afterlife. Neon answers "not really", then explaining that her fortunes are for people who are alive and says that the requiem is possibly meant to help him, not the dead. Lucilfer then agrees, saying she's probably right.

Chrollo stands up afterwards, saying that the organizers will let them start browsing at the auction soon.

As Neon and Chrollo head to the auction, Nostrade says that she heard the fact that "fortunes were meant to make the living happy" on TV, when she was a child. She tells him she was very moved by this fortuneteller's words and that it was a moment, when she decided, she wanted to be a fortuneteller. She then also adds that she doesn't believe in the afterlife, because that fortuneteller didn't believe in it either.

After they leave the elevator, Chrollo says that he believes in ghosts and that is why he'll do as he would have wanted. As soon as Neon asks him "what does he mean?", he chops her making her unconscious, while quietly saying "go wild". After that, he catches her and yells to the other people in the room to call the doctor.

By the end of the episode, while the Phantom Troupe causes a slaughter to mourn the death of one of their members (Uvogin), Chrollo is seen standing by the window of the building, conducting, while the Mozart's "Lacrimossa" plays in the background. He calls the massacre a 'requiem' mentioned before in Neon's prophecy and their talk.

Fanon[]

KuroNeo isn't the most popular pairing in the Hunter x Hunter fandom, because of Neon and Chrollo meeting - so far - only once in the whole series, and is treated more as a rarepair. However, a lot of people who ship them are very devoted to this pairing. Its rival ships are KuroKura, HisoKuro and KuraNeo. Ship debates between KuroNeo and KuraNeo are the most frequent. It's hard to see any ship wars between the fans of KuroNeo and KuroKura nor KuroNeo and HisoKuro.

The most KuroNeo content you can find is on Pixiv.
