Kylux is the slash ship between Armitage Hux and Kylo Ren from the Star Wars fandom.
Canon[]
Armitage Hux and Kylo Ren met five years before The Force Awakens. Much of their early relationship is unknown, however, it is clear that the two had a complicated relationship.
At some point within the year before The Force Awakens, Kylo and Armitage were on a shuttle that was sabotaged. Kylo used the Force to save them from the crash, but claimed that he did not mean to save Hux, but that, "I saved myself. You were just nearby." Shortly after Kylo saved Hux's life, the two argued and Kylo threatened Hux, only to be threatened by the planet's local fauna. Kylo immediately jumped to Hux's defense, ordering Hux to stay behind him. Kylo was knocked out, but was saved my a man stranded on the planet for thirty years. Hux took care of Kylo until he recovered, and then they called for help, threatening to blow up the planet as they left.
The Force Awakens[]
The two were at odds with each other, but constantly around each other at the same time. Later, when Kylo declared himself Supreme Leader of the First Order, their relationship took a turn for the worse as Kylo strangled Hux and later threw him into a wall. Kylo wanted to keep his traitorous general nearby, in case of betrayal.
At some point within the next half year, their relationship had improved. Hux accompanied Kylo on a mission to locate the Resistance and while arguing about who was most devoted to the First Order, they were once again attacked by the local fauna, and once again, Kylo immediately went to Hux's defense. He lost his lightsaber in battle, but Hux would not let the monster kill Kylo and shot at a branch, which fell on the creature's head before it fled.
In the aftermath of the animal attack, the Kylo agreed that Hux had earned his trust and the two rode off into the sunset together.
However, things were not to last, and their relationship not only declined, but fully imploded after the Battle of Batuu and their ship, The Finalizer, was badly damaged. Their relationship never recovered.

Kylux is one of the most popular ships from the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy. Many early works focused on their dislike or hatred for each other and generally, a very physical relationship. It was not long before "soft Kylux" became popular, with works depicting the two of them being in love with each other and caring for each other. There is also what is known as "cannoli Kylux," referring to works where once they can get past each other's outer defences (the cannoli shell), they can be soft and vulnerable with each other (the sweet filling).
Because there was very little canon information early on, AUs became very popular. While many popular AUs were seen (high school/university, coffee shop, historical, etc) there was soon an explosion of very niche AUs on the scene, such as competitive knitting or tapeworms. It has grown to the point where many in the Kylux fandom will find an orange object and a black object and craft an AU out of it.
Another niche is what is known as "Kylux adjacents," pairings between other characters played by Adam Driver and Domhnall Gleeson. The first of these was Techienician (Matt the Radar Technician from Saturday Night Live/Clan Techie from Dredd) which first appeared in January 2016. Since then, many other popular adjacent pairings have emerged.
"Benarmie" is another variation of Kylux. In canon-verse works, this typically involves them meeting prior to Kylo's fall to the dark side, when he was known as Ben Solo. This could be meeting as children, teenagers, or young adults. In modern fics, it also typically involves a younger version of the characters, but not always.
Trivia[]
- In The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special, an animated holiday special, there was a scene where General Hux walks in to tell Kylo Ren about the plan but he was distracted of seeing him shirtless. Hux mistakenly says the word about the plan with anything that is related to the chest while looking at Kylo Ren's chest.
- Ben Prendergast, the voice actor of Hux whenever Domhnall Gleason isn't available for the Lego Holiday Special, is quite aware of how popular the Kylo/Hux ship, or Kylux, is, and ships it. He's quite aware that the shirtless Kylo scene is Kylux shipping fuel, and in fact, said out loud when he received the script that "we're doing Kylux now?", much to the confusion of the crew.
