STRANGE NEW WORLDS
When Pike, Spock and La'an enter where Una and her crew are being kept, she smiles upon seeing Una. Una is surprised to see her, and La'an says hello. Pike is confused as to how they know each other, but La'an just says that Una found her when she was in a bad spot. Una reminds her that she told her to stop being brave, but La'an just tells Pike that she should have said something before.
GHOSTS OF ILLYRIA
Una is in the ready room, when La'an walks in. Una tells her that the landing party has been contaminated, and that security needs to keep an eye out for anyone emitting similar symptoms. La'an takes note of Una looking up information on Illyrians and asks if she thinks it's related to them. Una says that she was just doing research, but La'an says that this is why Starfleet is so skeptical of genetically modified species. Una suggests that if it is the Illyrians they might have a cure, but La'an reminds her that Illyrian tech is illegal. Una says that's thanks to the Eugenics wars, which she figures La'an knows all about. La'an says that she did look into her ancestor, Khan, when she was a kid and Una remarks that she never can think of La'an as a child. Una starts to suggest that genetics aren't all there is to judging a person, when La'an starts to become obsessed with the light. She realizes that La'an has been infected and gets her to sickbay.
Una realizes that La'an is about to start an explosion and runs down to the engine room to stop her. La'an is about to jump into the warp core, but Una quickly grabs her. She tries to contain the breach, but La'an starts to fight her. Una eventually pins her to the ground as La'an yells for her to get off of her. Una says she's trying to help her. That La'an knows her, that they're friends. La'an says that Una lied to her for years, and calls her a monster. Una then knocks her out, and absorbs the radiation from the warp core to save them both.
Una finds La'an in the galley and asks if she can sit with her. La'an allows it, and asks what the penalty is for striking a superior officer. Una "can't seem to remember" and wants to know if they're still friends. La'an asks if she wants her to say it was just the sickness, but Una wants to know if it was. La'an says that it was, and it wasn't. La'an says that they augments nearly destroyed earth, but Una says that's not the Illyrians. They only modify themselves to live on other planets, instead of changing the planet itself, and there's nothing wrong with it. La'an asks why she hides it then, why hide it from her. Una says she's been hiding it from a lot of people, and that all she ever wanted was to join Starfleet. La'an knows, Una gave her that same dream. And finding out that strawberries are her comfort food, which she shares with Una.
MEMENTO MORI
As La'an enters the bridge, Una points out that she's not wearing a pin for remembrance day. La'an says that it's no big deal, and that Una already knows how she feels about the whole thing. Past is the past. Una suggests getting closure and seeking mental health help, but La'an tells her to stop. She's not broken, she's fine and sits down at her station.
When they beam down to the colony, they take note of the damage. Una suggests it was a rushed evacuation, but La'an takes note of the blast marks. Una splits the party, and La'an finds something, calling her over. Una sees that it wasn't an evacuation but a massacre, and La'an points out that it looks like the bodies were dragged, but they're all gone now.
Una and La'an talk to one of the survivors later, who describes the attack. La'an suggests a sonic canon was used, and Una suggests plasma bombardments from "rain on fire". La'an says that there's no ships on their sensors but her gut is saying something is off. La'an talks to one of the children and contacts the bridge to starts scanning. Una asks what it is, but La'an isn't sure yet. Spock informs her that something is cloaked off the side of the moon and La'an yells to raise shields. She looks out the window and see's a space craft headed towards them. Una tells her to move, but La'an is locked in fear and Una is forced to pull her away.
When La'an awakens from the explosion she finds Una who is holding her stomach. La'an says that Una is bleeding, but Una assures her that she's fine. La'an starts to thank her, but Una tells her to forget it. Una told Pike that it's the Gorn and if La'an is correct they'll need her on the bridge. La'an nods and heads to the bridge.
SPOCK AMOK
La'an asks why Una is bothered by the nickname "where fun goes to die", but Una says that it doesn't, she's just never heard it before. She asks if La'an has and La'an hasn't but nor does she care. Una insists that she doesn't, but that not knowing makes her feel out of touch since she's a senior officer. La'an says that's not because she's a senior officer but because she's a senior officer. La'an says that's actually because she terrifies people and asks why people have such a problem with liking work. They both say what they're plans for the ship were when they get a message about a breach. La'an asks who's on rotation for back up, but Una says to belay that and that she'll be La'an's back up. La'an says that the crew are idiots and Una is fun. They reach the breach only to find that it's two members of the crew.
The two head to the brig ready to speak to the crew when La'an calls dibs on bad cop. Una is frustrated but La'an just tells her that she'll have to be quicker and they go to question the crew. When they get through and found out it's for Enterprise Bingo they give the crew members their punishment. Once they leave Una wants to know what Enterprise Bingo is, but La'an isn't sure.
They do some digging and find that it's a game played by ensigns to complete a set of tasks on a list. Una asks where La'an got the list and she says it was during a routing inspection. Una gives her a look and La'an says not to give it since she was just doing her job. Una says "sure she was", and that if this is what passes for fun she's fine being funs funeral. La'an corrects her on the nickname, but Una just says that she'll never understand their "fun". La'an suggests that they could try the list to get a better understanding of the crew, and proceed to do several things on the list.
La'an says that she's not feeling it and Una says she felt it when La'an shot her with a phaser, but didn't feel it either. La'an suggests that because she didn't really have a childhood she doesn't idealize childish behavior, and asks if they're done with this pointless exercise. Una takes note and says that they're not done. La'an knows that it was her idea, but they don't need that much insight into the crew. Una asks what the point of Enterprise bingo is, and La'an suggests it's a way to blow off steam. Una says it's a way to do something risky and La'an says it's too break the rules, which they make. Una then says that they have to find a different way to break the rules.
La'an and Una star their space walk inside their own personal force field. La'an asks if Una is sure the field will hold and Una says she's 99% sure. La'an asks if there's a rule against this and Una says that there has to be. They reach the scorch, and Una says that it's meant to be good luck to sign it. The two do so and watch a golden ship fly overhead together.
