Lando and Oscar are current drivers for McLaren, with the 2024 season being Lando’s 6th season and Oscar’s 2nd. Lando mentioned he met Oscar a few times before the 2023 season when Oscar was a reserve driver as he moved from Alpine. But they didn't developed a relation until Oscar was confirmed for a seat. Oscar was promised a seat for the 2023 season if Ricciardo’s contract was terminated, which was on mutual terms that then let the duo race together for the first time for the upcoming season. The two started on somewhat awkward terms as Oscar was new, however, the two would begin to warm up to each other as the season progressed.
The two share some similarities as Oscar mentioned that he and Lando listen to the same music, mostly being EDM. It was also mentioned Oscar changed his diet before the race season to Lando’s diet pre-season. Some fans even joked mentioning that Lando and Oscar even share similar features. In a few videos the two would partake in challenges such as 'Who's most likely to...' and hide n' seek. Oscar would make a few appearances on Lando's photography Instagram, as well would appear on his YouTube channel doing activites such as karting.
In the 2023 season alone, the two scored a combined 406 points placing McLaren 4th for the Constructors’ Championship. Although the two struggled in the beginning of the season they still managed to be one of the most dangerous duos on the grid. In Driver standings Lando was in 6th meanwhile Oscar placed 9th. In the 2023 Qatar Grand Prix, the two podiumed with Lando placing P2 and Oscar P3. The two are set to compete together for the 2024 season.

As relatively new the duo is, works on the two on AO3 increased drastically ever since the start of the season together. Fans began to love the two due to their chemistry shown in videos posted by McLaren. However, recently there tends to be some rivalry between fans of Lando and Oscar due to recent comments being taken out of context, as well due to biased journalism. This friendship currently rivals Carlando as it's currently Lando's most popular ship but as well respected officially in Formula 1 with the name being even used by teams and the media. However, it's Oscar's most popular ship currently.
