Battle for Dream Island Again[]
As Book walks off during the item collecting challenge, she is suddenly faced with a metal Leafy who overheard what Book said about being a cook. Book tries to walk away and mention how she's been told not to make contact with Leafy, only for Leafy to take her and run off. Book is placed next to a giant bowl where Leafy shares her plan of making an ice cream sundae, hoping for Book to turn it in for the challenge so the two can become best friends. Book decides to introduce herself where Leafy quickly talks more about the idea of wanting to become best friends with her. She gifts Book a taped-up map and quickly puts more questions on Book about whether she wants to hang out. Book gets overwhelmed and asks Leafy to just focus on the challenge, though this ends up offending Leafy. Putting the finished sundae down, she tells Book her thoughts of feeling unwanted and warns Book that she may not last longer in the game without her help. After thinking Book doesn't appreciate her free ice cream, she walks off and leaves a confused Book alone.
While Leafy is helping Coiny with the second part of the previous challenge, she advises Coiny not to be in the danger zone and suggests killing Book and Pin to prevent them from being safe. Later while Book tries to work with Pin in an alliance, she presents the map that Leafy gave to her. As Pin had destroyed said map years ago, she becomes shocked to find that Book has it. Though Book calls Leafy a mysterious mutated menace, she calls Leafy helpful and uses it to go to Yoyleland after Pin breaks up the alliance. After Book leaves, Pin then angrily shreds the map.
After winning the host vote, Leafy presents herself during the next Cake at Stake, though Book and the other contestants scream at her for blocking the screen showing the votes. Once the elimination is over, Leafy expresses her excitement of being the host and tells the contestants that being the host is synonymous to being their friends. A doubtful Book looks within her pages to find a page that states the opposite, making Leafy change the writing in the page to state otherwise. When the challenge is revealed to claim the most territory with Leafy, she explains to them that they must take her somewhere and she will plant a flag with their name if she likes it. Book asks Leafy if it is just an excuse for her to travel with her friends, though Leafy just sees it as a side effect.
After Needle takes Leafy to the Evil Canyon, Leafy overhears music and Book informs her of the concert hall's performance happening right there. She takes Leafy to the watch the concert and sits next to her, asking if Leafy is enjoying it. Leafy says that she isn't a fan of the genre, making Book ask the director Pan Flute to play something else. Book forces him to do it after he refuses the first time and Leafy enjoys hearing the new song being performed. She then places a flag on stage for Book, where Book is tied with Coiny with having one flag so far. When Tennis Ball gets Leafy to ride with him in his new car, Book follows Coiny and Needle and chases after the two to get Leafy back. However, the group runs into a dilemma when a gap in the highway prevents them from crossing. Regardless, Leafy enjoys spending time with them during the night on the highway. After they use Woody to fill in the gap and drive off the highway, Leafy finds it harsh when Tennis Ball kicks Book, Needle, and Coiny off. Later when Needle and Book are figuring out where the others went, Book states that she is Leafy's diary and looks up where she could be. Finding that she's going to the junkyard with Tennis Ball, Book and Needle make their way over to them.
When Coiny and Needle get into a cycle of placing Leafy in a desert and a tundra, Book suggests just putting Leafy in the middle of the two places. Although this briefly works, Book gets horrified to see that half of Leafy is burning up and the other half is freezing. Needle tries spinning her upside-down only to concern the two when the other halves of Leafy are ablaze and frozen. Afterwards when Leafy is spun around to preserve her temperature, she becomes hungry and Book checks her pages to find out what Leafy's thoughts are. Upon seeing a picture of a corn inside, she is pleased to take Leafy to the cornfield she's visited before. While walking there, Leafy finds Pin in the sky and greets her only to be insulted by Pin. Book calls Pin out for being rude and is given the same response by her. Afterwards, Book gives Leafy a corncob and the two find a tornado in the distance shortly afterwards. Leafy refuses to save Ice Cube and Gelatin from the tornado, saddening Book as she is ordered to leave. Leafy begrudgingly gives Book a flag for taking her to the cornfield when reminded to. During a montage, Book is seen taking Leafy to visit a cloud together and is given another flag for it. Leafy later places a flag for Book in the atomic level before sharing her enjoyment of the travels with all of the contestants.
Tennis Ball and Book get tired of running with Leafy and stop to discuss their flag counts: Book has 27, Needle has 63, Coiny has 69, and Tennis Ball has 80. Tennis Ball is glad to be ahead but remembers that the challenge ends when Leafy runs out of flags, prompting him to ask Book what Leafy's thoughts about the challenge are. In Book's pages, she finds that Leafy planned the challenge in order to hang out with her friends forever, realizing that Leafy has a large supply of flags still running. When they try to warn Coiny and Needle about Leafy's doings, the two don't mind and instead take on the challenge of taking Leafy to a million places. Tennis Ball urges Book that they need to end the challenge, which she agrees with. Though Tennis Ball is excited that he'll win if Leafy runs out of flags, Book admits she is used to losing and would rather stop Leafy from getting away with it. As Tennis Ball and Book take on destroying the flags, Book quickly grows tired with how little flags she's been able to destroy within the past few hours. She then remembers a hydraulic press they passed by at the junkyard and brings it over to use for Leafy's flags. Pin checks up on the two where Book tells Pin their plan to end Leafy's challenge. After Pin leaves, the two find Nickel in the hydraulic press where he agrees to help the two with their plan. However, as the three are in the process of destroying the flags, Leafy suddenly arrives and catches them all startled. Book and Tennis Ball try to steer Leafy's suspicions away by telling her that they're brainstorming the next place to take her. Leafy is excited by the idea, though Tennis Ball states that he and Book are still planning and need time to sort it out. Leafy breaks it to them and shares her disappointment that the two haven't been competing for a while, prompting her to ask if they're ruining the challenge. The two nervously deny the possibility and are shortly let off the hook by Leafy. After Leafy leaves, Book is worried about her being onto them but Tennis Ball uses the time to destroy more flags faster.
When Nickel is exhausted from destroying flags, Book states the need for them to put a stop on Leafy's never-ending scheme. By the time they reach the last flag for them to destroy, Leafy returns and finds out about their attempt to sabotage the challenge. She expresses her anger towards Book and Tennis Ball and feels as if nobody can be trusted, though Book angrily points out how she feels used by her for the challenge. When Tennis Ball asks about the points, Leafy declares the last flag to be worth 10 points. Since Book cannot catch up in points, Leafy calls her a lost cause and writes it inside Book, calling it part of her Leafy Lamentations. As Needle, Coiny, and Tennis Ball run after Leafy to get to their last location, Book follows as well as she says she has nothing better to do. Eventually when Tennis Ball drops a drill onto the hole Needle took Leafy down to, Book jumps in to protect Needle from it. However, when Book makes it down and tries to jump in front of Needle, the drill misses both of them and instead hits and kills Leafy. Before Book can process what happened, she burns up and gets reduced to ash.
Fanon[]
Following Leafy's prominence in the later BFDIA episodes, the ship began to pick up alongside her pairings with the rest of the remaining contestants. The ship had existed years prior as a rarepair, notably given their similarities of lashing out over misunderstandings and having to deal with the consequences afterwards. With the two now having interactions, support for them grew prevalent within lesbian shippers of the show in the fandom's shipping spaces. Fan art of the two often bases around scenes of them in the season, such as Leafy excitedly approaching Book and offering to become friends. The ship gained a following mainly among Twitter and Tumblr users with TikTok edits also backing up the two.
On AO3, as of August 12, 2025, the ship has 4 works under its romantic tag.
