Season 2[]
WHAT A CROC!
Mikey is in the water below the lair when he suddenly sees something swim by. He then takes another look and sees a giant crocodile and freaks out. The crocodile swims at Mikey, but he dodges and hides as it swims by. The crocodile then destroys Mikey's airline and finds him, Mikey's diving gear slowly filling with water. Just as the crocodile is about to attack Mikey, Donnie pulls him up saving him.
Mikey returns to the river, now hooked up with a camera and finds the crocodile again. He follows him to the turtles former layer, and finds that the crocodile is a scientist. He's talking to someone that Mikey can't see, but believes it's an Utrom. The other turtles loudly yell and causes Mikey to squeal in pain from the sound in his communicator. The crocodile hears him and chases after him, but Mikey is able to get away. He believes he got away and tells his brothers where he is, when the crocodile swims up and tackles him below the surface.
The crocodile starts to attack Mikey, but Mikey is able to dodge most of the attacks. He eventually tries to surrender and tells the crocodile he didn't mean any harm. The crocodile then calms down and apologizes, saying that he gets carried away sometimes. They are then interrupted by the arrival of the other turtles, who assume the crocodile is attacking Mikey. Mikey tries to explain what's going on, but the crocodile becomes angry and starts attacking them.
They get the crocodile subdued, but Mikey stops Raph before he can stab him. He tells the crocodile that their sorry and wants to know if they can have a truce. The crocodile calms down and says that they can let go of him and that he accepts the truce. They get off of him and the crocodile introduces himself as Leatherhead. The turtles introduce themselves, and Leatherhead leads them back to where he's staying.
After the fight with Stockman, the layer starts to come down around them. Leatherhead is able to hold up the cieling so that the the turtles can escape, but Mikey pleads for him to come with them. Leatherhead says that the transmat will be destoryed and if he can't be with the Utroms there's nothing worth living for. Mikey pleads some more but Leatherhead tells him to leave him and calls him his friend. Mikey forces himself to leave as the rest of the layer collapses.

Leatherangelo is one of the more common ships in the TMNT fandom. While there are those that started shipping the two during the 2003 series, most started shipping them from their 2012 series interactions. Mostly due to Mikey being Leatherhead's main friend among the turtles in the series. Mikey is always excited to see Leatherhead and hugs him every time they reunite. which lends to people shipping the two, and seeing them as a couple. It's also one of the "Giant Lizard x Turtle" ships.
On AO3, Leatherangelo is the most written ship for Leatherhead. There are currently 110 written works.
