Leguno is the het ship between Legoshi and Juno from the Beastars fandom.
Canon[]
Meteor Festival[]
Legoshi first encounters Juno while she was being bullied by a pair of students for being a wolf. After some internal debating, he walks up to the bullies and addresses himself as their victim's brother to get them to stop. When he looks over to Juno, however, he realizes that his excuse is a bold-faced lie as they don't look anything alike. Despite that, Legoshi presses on - and Juno even plays along with the ruse - enough for the bullies to leave (though more out of irritation). Now alone, Legoshi explains to Juno the reason she was being bullied, a fact that frustrates her - which he's glad for because it shows how strong she is. With that out of the way, the two properly introduce themselves with Juno noting that she's a new member of the Drama Club and had heard of Legoshi from their upperclassman Sheila - namely that he was a kind wolf. The two part ways after that as Legoshi has to attend a meeting with the other second-year members.
Following Legoshi's "misadventure" within the Black Market, Juno finds him in the practice room. At that time, he was in deep thought about both what happened in the market and what Louis said earlier in the day about him being with Juno. As such, he's shocked to see Juno was there but - following Louis' advice - decides to strike a conversation with her. Juno tells him that she's been having difficulties bonding with the acting team and thinks that their intimidated by her. She then reveals that she came to the practice room so she can perfect her role in the upcoming Meteor Festival. Seeing her struggle, Legoshi decides to help Juno in her practice by giving her pointers and even attempt to show her what to do. As the practice goes on, Juno begins feeling an attraction to Legoshi as she feels how synchronized they were and his constant touching. She suddenly stops the practice and asks Legoshi if he was feeling anything as well. Legoshi admits he is feeling something - before explaining that it's a biological habit that occurs when animals of the same species are in contact. Needless to say, Juno is confused by Legoshi waving off her love as something biological.
The next day, Juno arrives at the Drama Club and defuses the tension that was occuring following a confrontation between Legoshi and Louis. She soon started complimenting the work that the stage crew was doing - all the while maintaining eye contact with Legoshi, which the others took notice of, to the point that Legoshi got pulled aside and told not to hog Juno for himself. Later in the day, when Louis confronts her while cleaning the club room, she asserts to the deer that (among other things) Legoshi would be hers. Louis, however, notes that there's something keeping Legoshi from being hers - she just needs to watch him to see it. Taking that advice, Juno finds Legoshi at the grounds where the Meteor Festival is being set up and strikes a conversation with him while thinking he might have a girlfriend. After saying her rehersals went great thanks to his earlier lessons, the two talk about a tradition of the Meteor Festival: a couple that lights a candle together for the meteor statue are fated to be together. Before she can ask him to light a candle together, the Grounds are hit by a blackout that causes everyone to scramble. Juno and Legoshi join the other carnivores in protecting the herbivores, only for Legoshi to suddenly run off. When the power returns, Juno finds Legoshi being friendly with a female rabbit - leaving her confounded that he, a wolf, is possibly dating a rabbit.
Juno soon hears about the fact that Legoshi had punched Louis before disappearing. Talking to the deer, she worries about Legoshi and how it's connected to the kidnapping of the rabbit she saw him with. However, Juno witnesses Legoshi return to the Meteor Festival the following day - albeit looking like he was in a fight and the rabbit clad in nothing but his shirt. Juno soon reunites with Legoshi in the school's nurse's office as he was getting a scolding for missing his curfew. As she tries to express her gratitude of Legoshi's return, she suddenly becomes aware that he's moving away from her - which makes her begin thinking back to the rabbit and the possibility of the two dating. In a panic, she reminds Legoshi of the fact about two members of the same species touching and thinks it would help him, only for him to reject it. Out of options, Juno directly asks Legoshi about what he and the rabbit did while they were gone while impressing how wrong the possibility of them being together was. Legoshi asserts that nothing happened, but Juno's not buying it as she leaves the office - but not before telling him to see her perform at the Meteor Festival. By accident, Juno runs into the rabbit - who she learns is named Haru - just outside the nurse's office and confronts her about her time with Legoshi. Juno learns from it that the two didn't have sex like she initially feared, giving her new hope in winning over Legoshi.
The day of the Meteor Festival, Juno makes modifications to her show outfit to appeal to Legoshi since she has to lead the show thanks to Louis being missing. Following her performance, Juno singles Legoshi out in the crowd as she makes a speech about his courage in saving a student. Legoshi is then brought up to the stage as Juno continues waxing lyrical about him being a role model for all carnivores - to the rousing applause of most of the crowd, but the complete unease of Legoshi. Following the speech, Juno brings Legoshi to the Meteor statue so they can light a candle together. To her dismay, however, Legoshi runs off to find Haru - leaving her alone with the candle. As he's following Haru, Legoshi thinks to Juno's speech and believes she had the wrong impression of him.
Murder Incident Solution[]
As Legoshi pondered about Louis' sudden return - only to reveal he was resigning from the Drama Club - he happens upon Juno going to the Wolf Room for Territory Day. He decides to ask her about what she thought about Louis' news, blissfully unaware of the fact that she was acting coldly towards him and trying to get away. Fed up with trying to get away, Juno turns around and tells Legoshi to stop playing with her heart, revealing she's angry that he left her alone at the Meteor Festival. Juno's anger quickly boils over as she accuses Legoshi of choosing a rabbit over his own species and orders him to reject her to prove her point. Legoshi, however, calms her down enough so that they can talk in the Wolf Room. Before that can happen, Legoshi sees Juno being congratulated by other wolves for her speech at the Meteor Festival had done wonders for the reputation of all wolves - even being suggested the idea of becoming the next Beastar due to Louis' absence.
Revenge of the Love Failure[]
By the time Legoshi and Juno next interact personally, the former has dropped out of Cherryton and the latter has instead fallen in love with Louis. Wanting help in understanding interspecies couples, Juno goes to Legoshi's condo for advice. After discussing some of the challenges and solutions to making an interspecies couple work for them, the two decide to go out for something to eat. As they're walking, Legoshi notes the attention others are giving them because they look like a same species couple - which disquiets him. At the restaurant, Juno also begins noting the attention and begins thinking about the advantages same-species couples have over interspecies couples. As the two finish their meal and leave, they're stopped by a news anchor wanting a comment from them about both a predation event that happened earlier that day and the risks of carnivores and herbivores being together. Juno is suddenly set off by the anchor calling her and Legoshi a couple during that, prompting her to take his microphone and proclaim she's in love with a red deer and not scared to do so before leaving the scene with Legoshi. Back at the condo, Juno apologizes to Legoshi for her outburst but Legoshi assures her that he gets what she did. Realizing it's too late for Juno to go home by train, Legoshi offers her his room to sleep while he sleeps with one of his condo-mates. Juno thanks him for the offer, but Legoshi also thanks her for her courage in proclaiming her love for an herbivore in public.
Fanon[]
Leguno is an uncommon ship within the Beastars fandom. Fans of the ship see Juno as a superior choice for Legoshi than being with Haru due to a) being another wolf so no interspecies problems and b) Juno showing affection for Legoshi largely right out of the gate whereas Haru doesn't. However, detractors of the ship see Juno as only wanting to be with Legoshi for optics purposes as they would be a same-species couple. For her part, fans do see that Juno grows out of that crush and onto other potential choices. As such, this ship is rivaled by their significantly more popular het and same-sex ships - although polyships with Legoshi and Juno being together with either Haru or Louis aren't unheard of as compromises.
A theory put out by some fans posits that this ship is incestuous in nature. This is due to the theory that they're half-siblings through Legoshi's biological father Miyagi since Juno's parents are largely unknown. The main proof they give is the excuse Legoshi gives to save Juno from the bullies when they first meet - that he was her brother - and how Paru wrote similar dialogue that alludes to future events in the manga. Without more substantial proof, however, this theory is largely ignored by fans of the ship.
On AO3, this ship only gets passing support by having tagged entries in the 50's range. It's Juno's third-most written ship behind Louno and JunoHaru. Meanwhile, it's Legoshi's fifth-most written one behind the likes of LegoHaru and Lougosi.
