Leochi is the slash ship between Leonardo and Yuichi Usagi from the Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Samurai Rabbit: The Usagi Chronicles fandom.
Canon[]
Leonardo is one of the four turtles from the Ninja Turtles franchise. He is typically the oldest and the leader of the four, but in Rise he is the middle child and no longer the leader. Yuichi Usagi is the protagonist of the Usagi Chronicles, a Netflix series taking place long after the events of the Usagi Yojimbo comics. The two have never met, although several versions of Leo have met Yuichi's ancestor Miyamoto Usagi. The two are both high energy sixteen year old with a blue color scheme and katana as their main weapon.

Leochi is a rather popular ship among ROTTMNT fanartist, partly inspired by prior Leosagi interactions. Those that started to ship the two, came from fans who were aware of Miyamoto Usagi being a common crossover character in TMNT media watching the Netflix Series "Samurai Rabbit: The Usagi Chronicles", and coming out with a love for Yuichi. Due to those past interactions and the most recent Rise series, many thought that Yuichi would end up being the Usagi that Rise would use. Feeling that he fit better into the overall tone of Rise more than Miyamoto Usagi. Although, this would not be canonically possible as Usagi Chronicles is not owned by Nickelodeon, and should Rise ever return and bring in an Usagi, it would likely be Miyamoto. Many also point out that the two could geek out over their ancestors, often drawing them doing so. As Leo has Hamato Karai, while Yuichi has Miyamoto Usagi.
On AO3, Leochi is the most written ship for Yuichi and eighth most written for Leo. It is also the seventh most written ship in the Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles tag and the most written in the Samurai Rabbit: The Usagi Chronicles tag. There are currently 690+ written works.
Leosagi and Leochi Drama[]
Due to either confusion or a mix up, many who ship Yuichi and Leo will tag the ship posts/content as "Leosagi", despite it being a different ship entirely. This has frustrated many Leosagi shippers, as due to the mass amount of fan art, the tag ends up getting filled with Leochi content. Those that tag it with both, can frustrate fans of Miyamoto Usagi as well, as it means that the tag is mostly Yuichi over Miyamoto.
A frustration that many Leosagi fans have with Leochi fans is their need to insult people who ship any past versions of Leo and Usagi. This is due to Miyamoto Usagi being an adult in most adaptations, while Yuichi is a teenager. Leosagi fans point out that almost all shipping with Leo and M. Usagi comes from the 2003 version and when they make their own version of Miyamoto in the ROTTMNT show, where Usagi is a teenager. There is also a frustration due to the fact that most of the reason Leochi started to be shipped in the first place was due to Leo and Miyamoto's previous relationship, and the lack of an Usagi in Rise.
Along with that it's also worth mentioning that during the earlier days of when the Leochi ship was forming it was common to see fanarts and even a few fanfics depicting Yuichi as out of character, often as in being more serious in various ways and acting more like Miyamoto rather than himself (not to be confused with AU content, those posts never mentioned that it was any AU nor tagged it as an AU), as more fans joined the ship's fanbase posts started to form calling out that it was obvious that said earlier fan-content didn't even bother to watch the Usagi Chronicles show, bringing up how the guy literally stuffed a grape up his nose yet 99% of said eariler fan-conent of both the ship and character were depicted like he was Miyamoto 2.0 just with a different name or as emo angst loner boy (Yuichi’s team who? Never heard of them), or just as a loner dude having more common sense or even smarter than Leo even though the guy is canonically a moron on brand with Leo, it started to pick up that the ship's dynamic is more on brand as Moron x Moron.
It was definitely shown that the earlier fanon depiction of Yuichi’s character before was more like a copied form of Miyamoto rather than himself which also ignited more frustration and annoyance from Miyamoto fans which showed the example again of how Leosagi and even uncommonly Miyamoto fans themselves feel like a headache is coming cause of the earlier repeated usage of the ship to just be a copy of theres and often ask themselves would the ship have even been popular if the Usagi Chronicles Show had come out way later then it actually did, cause the height of the ship forming was when ROTMNT fandom was kicking up again and was around the time of fans commonly bashing the 2012 show specifically towards 2012 April O’Neil then slowly but surely expanded to other characters in the 2012 show. During that fiasco, we move on over to ROTMNT edits and other fan-content headcanoning Leo as Gay so most fans of Leo and specifically of that headcanon resulted in fans wanting to ship ROTMNT Leo with a man, but it seemed that most characters weren’t fitting the bill and many didn’t want to go in the Turtlecest route. It’s a bit blurry as to how why making a ROTMNT version of Miyamoto themselves wasn’t the first result, or rather it could have been that but coincidentally cause of The Usagi Chronicles Show had came out around this time and was apart of the Miyamoto Usagi franchise could of resulted in the interest to just ship Leo with Yuichi since he was now already here.
