Season 1[]
Liann and Nova don’t interact until the episode “Fight Night”. The two became lab partners for Chemistry class alongside Autumn and Aliya. After their failed experiment, the group decided to have a sleepover at Autumn’s barn where they plan to bond together by playing games and learning about teamwork. Nova initially didn’t want to go at first, while Liann is estactic to go and tried to convince Nova to come as well. That night, Nova would tell a scary story to the group while eating some of Liann’s sticky fish rice balls. But she would suddenly be interrupted by creepy noises coming from within the barn. Liann and Nova would cower in fear and hug each other as they hear the spooky sounds becoming louder. They both would let go upon realizing and finds out that Zac and Leo were outside the barn.
In “Doodle Doom”, Liann did not get along at first. Liann would get annoyed by Nova’s comments on drawing animals being boring. Nova would notice Liann’s seagull drawing and insult it by thinking it was a moose, causing Liann to become even more frustrated and storm out the classroom. Liann would draw Nova as a snake, even imagining herself beating the snake she drew. Paisley and Nova would come over to her and Paisley says that Nova didn't mean to hurt Liann’s feelings, to which Nova reacts in confusion. Liann forgives her and explains she was just needed to let some steam out by drawing. The three would then leave to go to their respective school periods. Later, Liann would realize that the drawing of Nova as a snake was missing and Liann begins to worry that if Nova finds it she would get really upset. Liann enlist the help of Paisley and Olly to search for the drawing with her before Nova finds it, but to no avail. At the end of the school day, Nova approaches Liann and Olly and shows them the drawing Liann was searching for. Liann would get really embarrassed and awkwardly chuckles.
They go to the diner where Liann serves Nova a bunch of foods and drinks in order for her to forgive her. However, Nova wasn't actually mad Liann and had already forgiven Liann before hand. She just wanted to mess with her by letting her do all this. Nova thought the drawing was actually pretty cool and would love to have it on a t-shirt, to which Liann responds she can ask her friend Olly to make one. When Liann asks how Nova found the drawing, she says it was a funny story. It flashes back to the moment when Liann, Paisley, and Nova were going to their respective school periods. Liann’s drawing would get stuck in the school’s bench cause of some gum and Nova finds it, to which she reacts to the drawing with laughter. She was originally gonna tell Liann about the drawing, but after seeing her causing antics around the school searching for it, she thinks it was more fun for her to play along.
On “Unstoppable Puppies”, Liann would be sent by Autumn to help Nova take care of the puppies at the Adoption Center. The two would get carried away with photo shoots of the puppies that they didn't even notice that all of them would begin to escape the Adoption Center due to Liann leaving the gate open. Upon realizing this thanks to their friend Leo pointing it out, they would go to search for the puppies before Autumn gets back. Liann, Nova, Leo, Zac, Olly, and Niko would search all over Heartlake City to search for every puppy and return them back to the center. They would succeed and just in time when Autumn returns. However, Autumn would quickly find out that the puppies escaped at some point and Nova admits it. Nova would blame herself, with Liann also apologizing and blames herself for leaving the gate open letting the puppies escape.
In “Decisions, Decisions”, Aliya would invite Nova and Liann to help with her to decide who’s idea to put in the Community Center’s ground floor due to the fact the two are the only ones not suggesting anything for the building. They would have a meet up at the diner, but their other friends would be there to try to convince Aliya to follow with their ideas. The next morning, Liann, Nova, and Aliya would wait outside the Community Center for Dale, the owner of the building, to try and convince him to open up the other upper floors of the building. Nova and Liann would recognize his dog, Dash, who was originally adopted from the Adoption Center and his dog with greet them. Dale was not interested in selling it despite the their efforts. The next day, after the community come together to make a performance outside the building, Dale finally gives in and gives them permission to build new areas for the building. Liann excitedly dances in celebration, but accidentally falls to Autumn’s stack of composes. Nova would approach he and Liann says she was ok, which made everyone in the crowd laugh.
In “It Takes A Village”, Liann would finish a painting for the Community Center’s mural and show it to Aliya. Nova would take a look at the canvas as well and thinks it’s pretty good, then snaps a photo of it. The three would then go to the Community Center to drop off boxes and prepare to paint the mural onto a banner. Nova sets up her projector and it shows the photo she took earlier of Liann’s painting on the canvas to help Liann with painting it on the banner. But they would run out of time, so they agree to do the painting tomorrow.
The next day, Liann, Nova, Aliya, and Leo would find all the supplies for the painting would be moved by the seniors and Paisley so they can have room for bocce ball. They would accidentally break Nova’s projector, to which Liann and Leo react in shock. Nova tells them to give her a moment, to which Liann thinks that Nova is taking the situation pretty well. Nova would walk in the elevator and scream really loudly to let out her emotion and Liann stands corrected. Nova would return home to fix the projector, but beforehand she tells them that it would take her time to fix it and it would not be finished that day. At the end of the episode, the students and the seniors would work together to build the Community Center. Liann and Nova would be painting the mural alongside Gertie. The final mural would be displayed from the top of the building’s rooftop.
In “The Perfect Holiday”, Nova would congrats Zac on his victory and not losing the snowboarding competition. Liann would attempt to knock some sense into Nova, but she pushes her aside. After she properly congratulates Zac, Liann gives her a hug and Nova accepts it begrudgingly. Back at the Community Center where the Holiday Lunch is held, as everyone dances, Liann offers Nova her hand to Nova and she accepts it. Liann drags her away to sing.
Season 2[]
In “Farm Fest”, Liann and Nova alongside their friends would help Autumn with Farm Fest at her barn. During the Ley-La concert at the festival, Liann and Zac would dance to the music as Nova and Ben look at them not getting it.
In “Liann’s Magic Lucky Charms”, after opens her lunch box to find a croissant that her mom never makes, Nova asks Liann about the painted rocks she painted that are rumored to be lucky charms and Liann doesn’t believe so. Nova smells a foul scent coming from her lunch box and asks Liann if she can have half of her croissant. The next day during class, the teacher makes them do a pop quiz that Liann didn’t study for. Nova asks if she skipped her homework and Liann shows Nova the painted rocks she’s made. Nova thought it was weird, but she brought up the time when the painted rocks brought her luck with her lunch and Liann hesitantly places the rock next to her. Liann would end up acing the quiz, which they both were surprised by, meanwhile Nova gets a failing grade on her quiz result.
Liann would then aim to make more lucky charms, with the help of Autumn, so she can share them with the whole school. Nova asks Liann that she actually thinks she can give rocks lucky power, to which Liann replies thinking it’s pretty obvious, believing that there’s enough evidence to prove she does. Nova lets them do their thing while she continues to try to defeat Lord Robostance in her video game. Liann gives Nova one of the lucky charms to wish her luck to defeat the boss and Nova reluctantly accepts it. Not long after, Nova successfully defeats the boss and she realized she was holding Liann’s lucky charm the whole time. She now truly believes that Liann does have a gift. A student walks in the room asking Liann if she’s the student with the lucky charms and Nova tells the student to wait after school to get the charms in room 2B. Nova volunteers to be Liann’s bodyguard to help sell her charms in the school and Liann is really happy about it. Their friend Zac would be granted permission to enter the room to pick one of Liann’s lucky charms. Nova interrupts them and wants Liann to tell her if Zac is causing any trouble.
Afterwards, Nova and Liann would eat at the diner in the Community Center. They talk about how successful the lucky charms business has been. Suddenly, a customer would beg to Liann for a lucky charm as the customer really needs one. Liann says she doesn’t have any with her and Nova tells the costumer to leave her alone when the customer begs again. Their teacher Ms. B would ask Liann for another lucky charm, but again, Nova and Liann tell her the same thing. A pair of students would beg to Liann for a charm and Nova shoos them away and tells them the same reason. Liann was worried on what she’s created and Nova thinks that everyone now relies on luck.
The next day at school, Nova would try her best to block out anyone from entering the room while Liann is on her way with more charms. Aliya goes up to Nova and she tells her she still doesn’t believe that Liann actually has powers to create lucky charms, but Nova claims she does. Once Liann arrives, Nova would continue to guard the front door to the room. However, the charms would quickly sell out and she informs Nova about it. Nova announces to the line that the charms have run out and a huge mob of students try to burst into the room. Nova thinks it’s best for Liann to stay inside the room while they wait for the crowd to clear up. Once they go out to the hallwata, they find the school to be completely empty. They go to the gym and find that the students have crowd up to trade lucky charms with students reselling them for other goods. Liann asks if this is her fault and Nova says it’s not not her fault. Liann wanted to put an end to all of it now and Nova wants Liann to follow with her plan. Nova announces to everyone on the megaphone that Liann has something to say and Liann reminds Nova that she didn’t tell her what the plan was, so she speaks up on her behalf. Nova orders the students to put down the lucky charms, but they would receive a ton of backlash from them. Liann steps up and threatens to curse the charms if they don’t do it immediately, then suddenly the lights begin to flicker and a loud thundering noise was playing. Nova asks if Liann did that and she shakes her head. The students were terrified enough that they placed down the charms on the floor. Liann and Nova do a fist bump for their success.
The two would grab a milkshake at the diner and Liann says she was glad to be shutting down the business for good. At school the next day, Leo would tell Liann and Nova that Liann’s lucky charm worked too well when he confronted Candi about the bullying. He begs for Liann to undo her charm magic, but Nova steps in to decline upon Liann’s behalf. Leo gets dragged away by Candi and Liann and Nova look at each other confused.
In “Autumn’s Stunt Trouble”, Nova and Liann would both shut up Zac after he tells Autumn that she can’t do any of the risky activities at the Adventure Camp. Later on the in the episode, they would both accompany their friend to the hospital and asks the other why they were there. They each responded it was a long story.
In “Friends Fright Challenge”, Liann would be warned by her friends about Nova trying to scare her. As she reads the text message, Nova had prepared a tripwire mechanism to attempt to scare Liann with a skeleton. Liann would trip on it and get started while Nova prepares to take the shot. However, Nova’s footage of Liann’s reaction would be covered by Olly being in the way and the two would laugh together instead, making Nova disappointed. Liann suggest for her, Nova, and Olly to work together to scare each other, but Nova disapproves as it won’t work and only one person gets to win. She also claims she's unscarable, to which Liann and Olly laugh at. Nova would make her point clear once more, and Liann and Olly wave her goodbye to hopefully see her later at Fright Fest.
While the group was preparing for the festival, Nova would attempt to scare them again. Aliya requests Liann to text Nova to see where she is at. Nova texts her back saying she'll be there in a bit and she even included heart emojis in her message. Liann screams in joy receiving the message since Nova never texts with hearts. Later, the atmosphere of the Community Center would suddenly change to be more spooky, with the lights turned off and scary music plays. Everyone assumes Nova has to do with this. When the lights are turned back on, Liann tells her that she has been scaring them all really badly and didn’t think it was very nice of her. But Nova says she has nothing to do with the scary stuff that is just happened recently.
In “Holiday Gift Swap Disaster”, Liann says she's got the perfect gift for her buddy for the holiday gift swap. Nova jokingly asks if it's the gaming console she's been dreaming of getting and Liann replies it isn't as Nova isn't her buddy and it would be over the spending the limit. The group laughs together as they carry their gifts. Once they arrive in the present room however, they find that all of them have disappeared. Liann freaks out as they no longer have gifts to swap with and Nova thinks she's being over dramatic. The group decides that Nova will do detective work to help find the missing gifts. Liann volunteers to help her and she begs to Nova by giving her puppy dog eyes. Nova let's her come as long as she stops what she's doing.
They search the outside and inside of the school to search for clues. They spot a security camera in the room and Nova asks Liann to borrow her phone. She manages to hack in the school's security system to pull up footage from last night. Liann asks if this was legal, to which Nova tells her to chill. Liann gets scared, but Nova says it's alright since she installed the cameras at the school and thinks it's amusing that Liann thought she was a criminal. They see that the footage has been blocked by a piece of paper so they couldn't see who stole it. Liann would asks where Nova was last night and she denies ever taking them. Liann suspects the teachers taking the gifts as they weren't included in the gift swap and Nova thinks she might be on to something. They confront their teacher Mr. Maxwell about the gifts, but he avoids the the question and heads back inside the room. They then begin to wonder how the thief would steal hundreds of gifts in one night, and thought of them using a sack, with the conclusion that Santa Claus might have something to do with it. They would ask several Santas all around the city, but all of them denied ever taking the gifts.
They would discuss in the chemistry lab where Liann talks to a soccer ball to answer questions. Nova sarcastically says that Liann’s plan was brilliant and Liann asks if she was mocking her, to which she responds that she only does it when she's breathing. She asks to borrow Liann’s phone again to check on the security footage. They found a recording of the thief sneaking off and upon closer inspection, they find out that Candi is the one behind all of it. They head to where Leo is as they know she's always whenever he is. They ask him to call Candi so they can confront her and he hesitantly gives in. She reveals that she's at the diner, so Liann and Nova head over there. At the diner, they confront Candi about the missing gifts. She runs away and Liann and Nova chase after her. They managed to corner her at the school and she admits she did steal them as she was the only student at school to not receive an invite, but they don’t believe her so Liann and Nova ask to take them to her locker. They find out that the invite was in there the whole time and Candi cries, apologizing for stealing them. Liann forgives her, but Nova wasn't so sure at first. They promise to not tell anyone at the school that she was the thief.
Season 3[]
In “Fake News Frenzy”, Liann would become the new head editor in chief the school’s news channel. When the group had no ideas, Liann goes over to Nova as she need help to find some news. She finds Nova playing Tap Tap Pup Pup Clean on her phone and Nova feels embarrassed to be caught. Liann teases her about it and promises not to tell anyone, at least if she helps her find news to fill in for the school’s news channel. Nova has the idea to create their own fake news so they have something to submit and Liann agrees with her. The two would work together to create a fake scenario of Pickle Boy disappearing, deep fake their teacher to make it seem she's playing Tap Tap Pup Pup Clean, and editing a photo to make it seem the cafeteria is serving dog drool hot dogs. Their rumors would quickly spread around the school and Liann demand for more juicy news. Liann and Nova would laugh evilly when Liann comes up with an new fake news idea. They spread a rumor about the famous Caterpillar Chaos coming to perform a concert at the school that night. The students would gather around the gymnasium as Liann and Nova watch. The students would find out that they've been hearing fake news and Liann and Nova try to sneak off, but we're caught red handed. They both apologize to the entire student body for lying to them.
In “Comics & Confessions”, Liann and Nova each sing the Moon Pegasus intro on their way to the comic store to get the latest issue for the series. They would coincidentally bump into each other in front of the comic store. But Nova would pretend to not be interested with Moon Pegasus at all. Liann would cut off the line to enter the store and Nova sneaks in with her. Liann reveals she actually got a job there and Nova panics as she doesn't wanna get caught she likes Moon Pegasus, but alas it was the only comic shop she can buy from in Heartlake. Nova attempts to distract Liann while she tries to pay for a copy, but she dropped her payment under the counter. Liann would return, pickinf up Nova’s coin and asks if it was hers. Nova denies it is and let's her keep the coin. Nova then tries to use a disguise to buy the comic so Liann wouldn't recognize it’s her, but due to the mask Liann couldn't hear what she said at the counter. Nova takes it off to shout that she wants to pay for her comic and leave. Liann was ecstatic to find out that Nova is Moon Pegasus fan, but Nova would deny it once again and Liann gets suspicious.
Since she notices Nova has been in the store all day, she teases her by saying Nova reminded her of the comic’s main character, Ethan, however she's starting to lean in that she's more like Raven. Nova argues she's exactly like Ethan and Liann finally caught Nova liking the comic series. Nova finally admits she does like it and asks if she can just buy a copy, to which Liann hugs her saying of course she can. However, the last one would be bought off and Nova was sad to find out that it was the last copy. Liann offers her to read her copy at her house and Nova excitedly accepts it, but wants to do it at her place as she promised her dog Pickle they'll read it together. At Nova's house, Nova and Liann would finish reading the issue and they both exclaim it was the best issue by far. Liann wonders what to do while they wait for the next issue to come out and Nova suggests they reread from the very beginning, to which Liann thinks it's the best idea ever.
In “Comic Shop Lock-In!”, Liann and Nova are on their way to the comic shop as they discuss if the plural for Pegasus are Pegasuses or pegasi. They see that the shipment for the store have arrive early, but neither of them could move it alone as it is too heavy. They work together to move the boxes inside. They would then move on to move the next box, but they find the handle off the door broken off, locking them inside the building. Liann informs Nova that they might be stuck there for a while as Florence, Liann’s manager, would not return until the caboodle fest is over. Nova has the idea to fix it using a toolbox, but Liann tells her she brought it home last night to fix her skateboard that is now in her room and Nova groans in frustration. Later, Nova’s arms have recovered from being tired and the two begin to make some calls to ask for help to get the two out, but no one responds. Nova was gonna crack the front door open, but Liann stops her as she worries she’ll get fired from her job. Instead, Liann would use their situation as an excuse for them to reread the entirety of the Moon Pegasus saga and Nova agrees.
Nova and Liann would recreate a scene from Moon Pegasus, with Nova as Lyra and Liann as Ethan. Suddenly, they hear a noise coming from the lower floor and they get scared. Nova is determined to face off whatever is in the store, even after Liann tries to stop her. They find out that their friends have received their call for help and have entered the store to rescue them. The two take off their Moon Pegasus accessories and laugh together. However, they find that none of their friends left the door open and the handle was still loose, so now they’re all locked in.
In “Nova’s Quiet Time”, Nova would get multiple messages from her friends inviting to some activities during the time of the day in what she calls her Nova time. She would receive a call from Liann and she begrudgingly picks up her phone. Liann asks if she wants to see a movie and she immediately says no. Liann would try to keep her conversation going by guessing what Nova wants and Nova hangs up on her. Nova would put on her headphones, but suddenly Liann appears in her room which caught her by surprise. Liann advises her to lock her front door as she could get unwanted guess as Nova drags her out of her house. Liann continues to talk to Nova outside her room by jumping on a trampoline. She says she never thought the two would be friends as they don’t go together but somehow make it work. She describes their friendship with a variety of strange food combinations. Nova says she’s fine if they get to do things, but she doesn't want to do it all the time. Liann refers to the two of them as BFFs and Nova angrily claims she does not do BFFs. Nova explains that she does infact want to miss out on all the fun as Liann has FOMO, while she has JOMO, Joy of Missing Out. Liann knows Nova actually like to hang out, but perhaps she doesn’t want that yet and is determined to make Nova go from JOMO to FOMO.
Liann would continually post photos of her spending the entire day with their friends and Nova would constantly get annoyed by them, but secretly does feel left out. Nova calls Liann to tell her that she admits she does want to hang out, but Liann would get distracted and hangs up. When they go to school, Nova meets with Liann and thinks she’s is upset at her that they didn’t get to hang out together. Liann doesn’t mind it as she knows Nova wanted some alone time. Liann goes to hang out with Leo and Nova felt very sad. Back at home, she would lament about her and Liann’s friendship. Nova then has the idea to get her and Liann to start hanging out again. Nova would burst in the diner where Liann and their friends are, wearing Moon Pegasus merchandise. She dances and sing the Moon Pegasus theme in front of Liann. Liann would hug Nova and says she’s missed her during their time they stopped hanging out. Liann apologizes that she was being annoying and she was completely fine that Nova doesn’t always want to hang out with her. Nova explains that she does enjoy her alone time, with the reason being not because she wants to avoid her friends and she actually likes to be invited, but next time she’ll try to say it a little more kinder. Nova asks what they should do and Liann suggests that they should just do nothing together. Nova thinks it’s the perfect idea and admits she missed Liann too, to which Liann points out as she knew Nova loved her, but Nova pretends she did not say anything.
In “Baby Dolphin Name Game”, Liann, Nova, Autumn, Zac, Leo, and Paisley would compete to stay a treehouse and whoever gets to stay there the longest would decide the name of a baby dolphin. Liann couldn’t stop talking to Nova telling story of an experience she had for the whole day and Nova gets very annoyed of it. Nova tells her to stop, but Liann continues anyways. Nova would pack her bags as Liann follows her while still telling the story, then Nova slides down the slide that goes out of the treehouse in order to escape her, but she still follows her down as well. They would both be disqualified from the competition.
In “Leo’s Cooking Triumph!”, Liann and Nova had stayed up the whole night at the treehouse creating their fan comic book of Moon Pegasus. Liann tries to wake up Nova in all sorts of silly ways, and when Nova gets up, she asks why she’s so weird. Liann receives a message from Leo that he wants them to taste test his final assignment for the Cooking Academy. They realize that the place is a whole mess now with a ton of leftovers and trash everywhere. Liann worries that Autumn will be mad, but Nova reminds her that Autumn tells them to let them help themselves with the snacks. They then remembered that Autumn told them that she prepared granola bars as their snacks, but instead they have accidentally eaten the groceries that are gonna be used for Leo’s dish. Liann begins to panic again upon this realization, but Nova tells her to relax as Leo will come back in the afternoon and that they have plenty of time to replace the ingredients. They would immediately rush to the grocery store, only to find that it closed for the day due to it being a holiday.
Nova and Liann then head to the Beach Resort to try and convince the manager to let them buy ingredients, but she doesn’t allow them. Liann begins to worry even more as she thinks Leo is gonna fail and never wants to be friends with them again. Nova reminds her that Leo once said that the best chef’s improvise and gets the idea that the two should improvise as well. Nova says they should buy new ingredients, whild Liann says they should find new friends. Nova is confused and surprise to hear her say this, but Liann pretends she was going with Nova’s plan. They head out to find all sorts of snacks they could find in the entire city to replace the ingredients. They would place the thing they’ve gathered on the table and then run away before anyone notices. They hear Leo’s shriek of terror, Nova saying that he definitely did notice. Liann holds her hand to run faster, but they would bump into Autumn who’s very upset at them. She tells them to fix everything and they both head back to the treehouse to apologize to Leo. They convinced Leo to make a dish with the ingredients they’ve salvaged instead.
In “Holiday Crush Fiasco”, Nova would call Liann to pick up the laundry and Pierce’s costume at the laundromat for the holiday party. Aliya worries that Liann will take the wrong costume and Nova assures her that she isn’t as claims her she speaks Liann. She orders Liann through the phone to be at the laundromat now and Liann says she’s already on her way. Nova tells her to pick up the stuff they needed for the party there. Liann tells her that she’ll be there soon by taking the bus. During the party, Liann grabs Nova’s arm to drag to her onto the dance floor to join their friends.
In “Movie Ticket Mayhem”, Liann would receive two tickets to the Moon Pegasus premiere. She wants to give them to Nova, but when she tries to tell her about it by jumping outside her bedroom window, she sees that Nova isn’t in her room. She even tried calling her and still no answer. Liann asks Aliya and Zac if she knows where Nova is. They would notice that Liann has two tickets and Zac asks her who’s she’s taking while secretly hoping she gives it to him. Aliya interrupts saying she’s obviously taking Nova, but since she’s not here, she hope that Liann would give the ticket to her. Liann would run off to continue searching for Nova. She tried calling her again, but still no answer. Everyone in Heartlake heard about her tickets and on some occasions she would get followed by people who are begging for a ticket. Liann would end up ending the tickets as she got overwhelmed by the crowd. Nova eventually calls back Liann and Liann tries to act cool after what happened. Nova asks her about the two tickets, but Liann tells her the news that the tickets are gone and that she’s let everyone down. She ends the call and Nova gets sad.
At the skatepark, all of their friends would apologize to her about wanting the tickets and Liann would be surprised that they’re not mad at her. Nova tells her that no one is, but that she can be mad at them. Liann doesn’t as she doesn’t want to be like that to her friends. At the treehouse, they have prepared Liann a special movie night of Moon Pegasus. As Nova sets up the projector, Liann opens up her arms to embrace a hug, but Nova claims she doesn’t do feelings. Liann gives her a hug anyways and Nova embraces it. Liann says Nova may not do feelings, but she is the is the best at it than anyone she knows who does and thanks her.

Liannova is a really popular ship in the LEGO Friends fandom, maybe even the most popular The Next Chapter ship. The fandom began shipping the two since season 1 and as the show continues, more people began to ship the pair. Fans love the two’s dynamic and the development in their friendship with Nova slowly warming up to Liann. Despite being total opposites personality wise and even when Nova gets “annoyed” by Liann’s antics, the two would remain to have a strong friendship bond. Since Liann is confirmed to have ADHD, a popular headcanon among fans is that Nova is on the Autism Spectrum, creating a ADHD x Autism pair.
