Lilanette is the femslash ship between Marinette Dupain-Cheng and Lila Rossi from the Miraculous Ladybug fandom.
Canon[]
Season One[]
Lila is first introduced as a potential rival for Adrien Agreste's affections. Marinette panics upon seeing them speaking with each other at school, imagining her stealing Adrien away due to the exciting life she's apparently lived. However, when Lila admits to being close friends with Ladybug Marinette begins to suspect that she's simply a liar. She decides to try and convince Adrien that Lila doesn't really know Ladybug, but doesn't have the chance. Instead, Marinette decides to transform into Ladybug and confront Lila directly. Lila begins to cry (although it's unclear if this is an act or not) and runs away from Adrien and Ladybug.
Sensing her jealousy, Hawk Moth transforms her into "Volpina", giving her the ability to bring her lies to life with the power of illusion. She presents herself as another superhero, but Ladybug is immediately suspicious. Cat Noir tries to convince her to relax and give Volpina a chance, but Ladybug continues to be on edge. She quickly discovers that Volpina is actually an akumatized Lila, and works together with Cat Noir to defeat her. They each apologize half-heartedly to each other for the earlier events of the day, although Hawk Moth notes that Lila still holds a terrible negative feeling against Ladybug.
Season Two[]
Lila returns in the season finale, having been homeschooled for the last season. She appears on a video call with her class, telling them a lie about visiting the Kingdom of Achu. Marinette attempts to call her out, but Lila is able to swing the conversation back into her favour. Alya Césaire says that Marinette is simply jealous of Lila for flirting with Adrien, but Marinette tries to tell the entire class that Lila is a pathological liar. None of them believe her.
Hawk Moth decides to utilize Lila's hatred for Ladybug to his advantage. As Gabriel Agreste, he appears on TV and praises Ladybug. He also speaks ill of Volpina, which causes Lila to throw her laptop against the wall in anger. Using this negative energy, Hawk Moth once again akumatizes Lila into Volpina. She uses her power of illusion to create an akumatized Ladybug, turning the citizens of Paris against her.

Season Five[]
With Lila now working for Gabriel Agreste, she is trying even harder to ruin Marinette's life. She attempts to sit with Marinette at lunch, but Marinette claims that all of the seats are taken, even throwing herself across the table to prove her point. Lila joins Nino's Resistance as a way to provide new information to Gabriel. Marinette is shocked and annoyed to see her there, but Alya convinces her that Lila only wants to help. Begrudgingly, the two shake hands.
Lila begins trying to turn all of Marinette's friends against her, starting with Kagami Tsurugi. She gives her a test to fill out to prove if Marinette is a true friend or not. Lila is later seen cutting up photographs of Marinette in her bedroom, promising that someday soon Marinette will have nothing left. Although Marinette and Kagami patch up their relationship, Lila can still sense some unease between the two. She uses this to her advantage again, convincing Kagami that Marinette is a liar and master manipulator; much like Lila herself is.
Lila begins working with Chloé Bourgeois to ruin Marinette's life and get her expelled. First, they try to frame her for stealing. When that plan fails, Lila concocts a plan to take over Marinette's position as class representative and ruin the Teacher Rep meetings that decide each student's future. Marinette tries to stand up to Lila, at Adrien's urging, but Lila manipulates the class into feeling pity for her and Chloé. They unanimously win the election, and put their plan into motion. Unfortunately for Lila, Sabrina spills the details of their plan to Marinette, who comes up with her own plan to expose Lila and Chloé. With her lies and deceit revealed to the entire class, Lila is expelled from the school.
She decides to ditch the persona of "Lila" and return to another one of her identities, Cerise. As Cerise, she begins to concoct a new way to ruin Marinette's life. After Monarch's defeat, Cerise obtains the Butterfly Miraculous. This may lead to her being the next big villain that Ladybug and Cat Noir will have to take down.
Miraculous London[]
In Miraculous London, Cerise immediately uses the stolen Butterfly Miraculous to akumatize herself into Timestalker, a masked supervillain with the power of Time travel in order to travel back to Ladybug's final battle against Monarch to find out the former's secret identity and the latter's secrets to record them in a journal to keep the information after she loses her memories after her deakumatization.
In an alternate timeline, she succeeds in discovering Ladybug's secret identity as Marinette, and after deakumatizing herself, Cerise with a smirk, reakumatizes herself into a new intangible supervillain, Spectral Looter to enter Marinette's room unnoticed and steal all the Miraculouses she retrieved from Gabriel, along with the Ladybug and Cat Miraculouses to grant herself an unknown wish which would hae destroyed the entire universe. However, this was noticed by present Bunnyx, who saved Marinette before the wish could destroy her, and equiped with a past version of the Ladybug Miraculous, Marinette transformed into the yellow suited superhero Chronobug and travelled to the point that Spectral Looter stole the Miraculouses from her, albeit she was unable to stop her due to the supervillain's intagibility, and Spectral Looter sarcastically waved goodbye to Chronobug before leaving the room.
Chronobug then decided to stop the supervillain from discovering her secret from and travelled to her talk with Gabriel in Re-creation, where she spotted Timestalker and realized she wasn't another akumatized villain but a new evil Butterfly Miraculous holder who recorded everything she discovered, and Chronobug fought the villain to prevent her from knowing she's Marinette but is unable to find the akumatized object, due to the new "Hawk Moth" having left it in her lair as a precaution. Chronobug wondered if the villain was a male or female and during their fight, Chronobug managed to take Timestalker's notebook and saw she discovered she's Marinette Dupain-Cheng, so Chronobug altered the notebook by erasing her name and changing it with the name of the late Gabriel Agreste instead and tauntingly left it to find for the "New Hawk Moth", where Chronobug notes she isn't like the previous one, as she's more clever but still promises to get the Butterfly Miraculous back and discover her true identity.
After Timestalker arrives to her lair, she deakumatizes back into Cerise and reads the journal but becomes shocked when it says that Ladybug is the late Gabriel Agreste, which Cerise immediately saw that was fake as she knew that Gabriel was dead and became furious about her plan failing to the point she paralyzes Nooroo. After calming down, Cerise transforms into a new villainous Butterfly Miraculous holder and promises Ladybug she'll discover her secret identity.
Fanon[]
Lilanette is a relatively popular ship in the Miraculous fandom. Fans enjoy the idea of Marinette getting together with one of her antagonists, in much the same way that they ship Chlonette. While some enjoy the idea of Lila reforming and changing her ways, other fans prefer the idea of Lila corrupting Marinette and the two working together as the "bad girls". Still others enjoy the idea of Lila and Marinette falling for each other in one of their identities, but remaining enemies in another; a parallel of sorts to the canonical Love Square.
