Shadow Dragon And The Blade Of Light[]

Merric and Linde are 2 playable units in every version of the first and third Fire Emblem games, they are both mages and are recruited fairly early on (Merric on chapter 5 and Linde in chapter 11), through out the game they accompany Marth and the rest of the Altean alliance in their quest to stop Medeus and Gharnef, they become friends and Linde develops a crush on Merric as shown in the direct sequel.

Through the game they both express a desire to go back to Khadein and help rebuild the magic city from the damage the dark priests have done to it. At the end of the game they go back to study there before Linde goes back to Akanea and Merric makes plan to go to Altea.

In the remake Linde can get a bonus from Merric's presence if they are both deployed in enough chapters.

Mystery Of The Emblem[]

Many of the character relationships in the original SNES version of Mystery Of The Emblem were based on perception players had while playing the original game on the NES, like Ogma and Nabarl being rivals due to them both being the main champions on Shadow Dragon And The Blade Of Light, Linde and Merric were made more close friends due to both being the main mages of that game, this is give with the original support system introduced in that game, where Linde gets power points for being close to Merric.

Once again they are both the main magic users of the player's army, Linde joins at the end of chapter 3 and Merric at the start of chapter 10. They help Marth during his fight against emperor Hardin who has recently being manipulated to turn evil by Gharnef.

In the Remake they now have a full support conversation set more akin to the modern Fire Emblem games. Although, due to the plot points of the original story, it doesn't change the characters's resolution in any way.

In their C Rank Support, Linde is looking for her Aura tome after Merric borrowed for study since it can only be used by women for some reason and they talk about how magic still has many unexplained mysteries, Merric mentions he is writinga thesis on magic and Linde cheerfully tells him that she wants to read it.

In their B Rank Support, Linde asks Merric why did he decide to study magic and he mentions how he always enjoyed reading more than fighting and that Marth and Elice pushed him to persue his dreams.

In their A Rank Support, Linde notices Merric is always wearing a certain pendant around and asks him what it is. He tells her that it's a lucky charm that Elice gave him before going to Khadein, this causes him to start having a lot of self doubt since he wasn't able to stop Gharnef from abducting her both times it happened, despite feeling somewhat sad that Merric seems to have feeling for Elice Linde still tries to reasure him that they will rescue all the clerics regardless and he cheers up.

Fanon[]

This section is in need of major improvement. Please help improve this article by editing it. LindeMerric has been quite popular since the release of the original game back in 1990, so much so, that it was eventually referenced in the direct sequel years later through the support system even though the writers already had the idea of Merric having feeling for Elice earlier on. It's the more popular pairing for the more casual Fire Emblem fans, more so than MerricElice, mostly due to the fact throught all the game she appears in Elice only really shows up as a playable unit in 4 chapters, only 3 going by the original games from the 90's her lack of development makes her much less interesting than Linde since she was actually a part of the main army since very early on in every game.
