Llorumi is the het ship between Lloyd and Harumi in the Ninjago fandom.
Canon[]
Sons of Garmadon[]
In the first episode "The Mask of Deception" of Season 8, when the Ninja were tasked with patrolling the Emperor and Empress' Palace, Lloyd developed a crush on Harumi after seeing her for the first time while the Emperor and Empress were giving a public speech. Later on, the two met in person because Harumi invited the Ninja to the Palace. In "The Jade Princess," Lloyd mistakenly believes Harumi was kidnapped after finding her room ransacked. However, after Lloyd chases the mysterious person with a green hood and bag, it's revealed that the person is, in fact, Harumi. Harumi states that she simply wanted to bring food with the bag to the poor side of Ninjago City. The two develop a bond as they walk and chat while giving food to the poor, and Harumi told Lloyd he can just call her "Rumi." The next day, while the Ninjas were training in the palace's backyard, the others gave Lloyd advice for his feelings towards Harumi, but ultimately Nya advised him to be just himself. Back in the Palace, Lloyd overhears the Emperor and Empress scolding Harumi. And when Harumi runs from the throne room, Lloyd says that not everyone is as lucky to be able to be themselves. After the Palace is destroyed by the Sons of Garmadon and the Ninja finally get on the Destiny's Bounty, Harumi states that now she's alone again, but Lloyd reassures her she isn't alone.
In "Dead Man's Squall," while the two are talking on the Destiny's Bounty, Harumi leans in for a kiss, but Lloyd gets all nervous and makes an excuse so he can leave. Later, when the two were falling down with the Samurai X Robot Suit, Harumi said she needs Lloyd, but he replies that he needs that map. Then they crash in the Primeval's Eye island. Because of the harsh fall, Lloyd sprained his arm. So Harumi wrapped the map around his arm.
In "The Quiet One," Lloyd and Harumi went on the search for the Third Oni Mask on the Primeval's Eye island. While searching, a tree with moving branches captured Lloyd and dragged him on the ground, but Harumi managed to save him. So he would stop asking questions about how she threw the sword perfectly, Harumi quickly kisses him on the cheek. To which Lloyd gets surprised and nervous briefly. When they found a boat and sailed it to find the Oni Temple, Lloyd and Harumi were attacked by a mysterious sea creature but escaped it eventually. Luckily, the two managed to find the Oni Temple too. After a series of riddles, they found the right room for the Oni Mask of Hatred and entered. In "Game of Masks," Lloyd ultimately found out Harumi is the "Quiet One" due to him never telling her he's also part Oni. They fight for the Oni Mask, but Harumi wins the battle. When Lloyd escaped the flooding Temple, he got on the Destiny's Bounty with Zane and Nya's help, which was stolen by the Sons of Garmadon. However, Lloyd is captured by the Sons of Garmadon.
In "Dread On Arrival," Harumi and the Sons of Garmadon take Lloyd to a secret place called the Temple of Resurrection. Before the ritual began, Harumi mocked Lloyd and revealed that they also have his mother captive, Misako. Lloyd told Harumi to let Misako go because it's about the two of them, but Harumi replies that it was never about her and him. During the ritual, Lloyd watched from a cage as Harumi attempted to bring Garmadon back. Soon, the ninjas appeared, rescuing Lloyd and Misako before stopping the ritual. As the Sons of Garmadon were arrested, Lloyd escorted Harumi to a police truck. She tried to trick him again, but he didn't fall for it. In "True Potential," while the Ninjas were celebrating their victory, they learned from the news that Garmadon broke into the police station and freed Harumi, then went to Kryptarium Prison. Lloyd goes to fight Garmadon but loses terribly. Harumi watched as Lloyd got flung out of Kryptarium Prison and stated he still needs to be alive so he can see Garmadon triumph.
Hunted[]
In "Big Trouble, Little Ninjago," Lloyd is taken to an old tea seller, Mystake, by the other Ninja. They managed to heal him, but Lloyd lost his powers in the process. After Nya and Lloyd leave the tea shop and go to the hideout apartment, Lloyd is requested by Nya to take Baby Wu away. However, Harumi finds him and chases Lloyd while wearing the Oni Mask of Hatred. They get on a flying metro, and Lloyd tosses Baby Wu to the nearby Destiny's Bounty to the other Ninja. Lloyd and Harumi fight, but she gets the upper hand and made him watch as Garmadon's Colossus "killed" the other Ninja. Then, Lloyd vowed he wouldn't give up before jumping off the metro and using a parachute.
In "Radio Free Ninjago," Lloyd and his newfound allies infiltrated Garmadon's base and recorded a video of Lloyd encouraging the Ninjago citizens to be brave. It enrages Harumi as the part of Lloyd saying, "The Resistance never quits!" keeps looping on the TVs. After a tiresome chase in "Two Lies, One Truth," Lloyd states that "Those who cannot change cannot change anything." Before she gets captured by Lloyd and the others, Harumi mocked him and called him a "beggar in rags."
In "The Weakest Link," Harumi is held hostage by them in the storage room. She then told Lloyd that Garmadon cares more about her than his own son. However, he replied that Garmadon cares for no one but his thirst for power. Then Lloyd throws her Oni Mask of Hatred to the floor. And Harumi continues to mock him for not changing, stating, "Once green, always green." Later, Dareth lost his guard when keeping an eye on Harumi, and she escaped. Arriving at Garmadon's base, Harumi blows Mystake's cover, who was disguised as Harumi and took Skylor to Garmadon. In "Saving Faith," the two watch as Garmadon and Skylor fight for control of the Colossus. In the middle of the standoff, Harumi runs off to a nearby building. After helping two parents and their son, not wanting the kid to suffer the same fate as her, Harumi reached for the emergency exit, but it got blocked by falling debris. Then she goes to the rooftop, which is hit by the Colossus. On the verge of collapse, Harumi and Lloyd look at each other one last time from a distance with slight affection, before the building collapsed with Harumi to her death.
After the battle ended, Lloyd went looking for Harumi in the collapsed building, yelling her name in desperation, but unfortunately he couldn't find her. Unbeknownst to him, The Overlord, later known as the Crystal King, resurrected Harumi.
Secrets of Forbidden Spinjitzu[]
In the Never Realm, Lloyd repeatedly talked about Harumi to his white fox friend, which he called "Red."
Prime Empire[]
Lloyd, Jay, and Nya made it to the last level of Terra Domina. Lloyd wanted to finish the game, so he got in the battle ring. To his surprise, his opponent was a Pseudo-Harumi lookalike. Lloyd fought her, and the Harumi Avatar tried to manipulate him. But when Lloyd asked her about a past event, she answered wrong. Ultimately, the battle ended with both of them defeating each other.
Master of the Mountain[]
When Lloyd warned Cole about Princess Vania, Cole brought up Harumi.
Crystalized[]
In "The Council Of The Crystal King," Lloyd's cover was blown and he tried to escape but was struck by Mister F. When the Kabuki Mask approached Lloyd, the masked figure asked him if he figured out their identity. By singing a familiar lullaby, Lloyd fearfully realized who was behind the Kabuki Mask before falling unconscious.
During the episode of "A Sinister Shadow," Harumi told Lloyd how she came back to life and her meeting the Crystal King and why she was collecting Vengestone. Thus revealing that she's the mysterious Vengestone buyer the Ninjas couldn't find. Then Lloyd would distract Harumi by asking why she's recruiting all those villains, to which Harumi sarcastically joked that she's gathering them for her villainous volleyball team. Lloyd asked her if she was serious, and Harumi replied that she wasn't in frustration. She questioned Lloyd, asking how he led Ninjago's greatest heroes, and mocked him for being so gullible. Harumi later revealed her plan to take the Golden Weapons from the Monastery. Lloyd asked why, since the weapons didn't have any powers anymore, much to Harumi's annoyance. Harumi reminded him that power can't be lost for good, and say just how many times did the Ninjas lose their powers only to regain them eventually. Lloyd also revealed that his feelings for her are true while hers maybe weren't, that it was all just a trick. Angered, Harumi asked why he didn't come for her then. Lloyd replied that he indeed did, searching through the rubble with his bare hands, but Harumi tells him he didn't search long enough. Discreetly, Lloyd managed to get the key from Harumi and freed himself, even calling her "Rumi" again. However, he gets defeated by Mister F. Harumi said to Lloyd that peace will be within the darkness of the Crystal King.
In "The Spider's Design," Lloyd woke up in a cage and tried to break out, but Harumi told him that the cage is made out of Vengestone. Lloyd tried to convince her that she could change; while it seemed like it worked, Harumi wasn't being genuine. Harumi remarked that he hasn't learned from being tricked again and that he's too trusting, which is why she believes Lloyd will lose. Lloyd asked her to direct her anger at him after Harumi talked about him letting the building fall on her. Harumi tried to manipulate Lloyd that he has a dark side like Garmadon, being part Oni. When an alarm goes off, notifying that the Ninjas are getting close, Harumi reveals that she planned to prevent the Ninjas from proceeding any further. So, Lloyd watched as Harumi used the Crystal Spiders to "kill" his friends. Then, Harumi tried to convince Lloyd by saying he won't be destroyed if he joins them. However, Lloyd refused and unleashed his Oni powers in rage and got out of the cage. Him and Harumi fight, but Lloyd eventually regains his senses. And he's struck down unconscious by Mister F. again. Harumi then states, "Welcome back, son of Garmadon."
In "The Coming Of The Crystal King," the Crystal King, who was resurrected by Harumi and Aspheera beforehand, gives Lloyd two choices. He could either stand by Harumi's side and do the Crystal King's bidding or refuse and be destroyed. Lloyd goes with option three, "Escape and live to fight another day!" Kicking the Crystal King and escaping his chains and running off. Furious, the Crystal King orders for Lloyd to be destroyed. The others began to chase after Lloyd, but Harumi didn't, expressing visible sadness. Seeing her hesitation, the Crystal King asked what was wrong. To which Harumi states that Lloyd doesn't have to be destroyed and wants to try and 'reason' with him instead. However, the Crystal King declared that moment already passed and ordered Harumi to go after Lloyd, and she obeys. Harumi managed to see which way Lloyd ran in the hallway, but when Pythor asked her which direction he went, Harumi thought for a moment before pointing towards the wrong direction on purpose. And she goes after Lloyd alone. Harumi confronts him at the edge of the flying Temple, trying to convince Lloyd to join her but failing. When the rest of the Council caught up, Harumi told them to stay back. She noticed how Lloyd kept looking down at the land that was hundreds of feet below, becoming nervous and a little panicked, telling Lloyd if he jumped down, he'd die, gradually stepping closer to him. Lloyd responded by saying he hopes she's wrong about that before grabbing Harumi's hand and jumping off the Temple together. She screamed as they fell, so Lloyd pulled her close while she buried her face in his shoulder. When they land in the river, Harumi is temporarily rendered unconscious. Lloyd swims after her and paddles the two of them to a low-hanging palm tree.
In "Return to Primeval's Eye," Lloyd and Harumi venture into the jungle, with her being treated as a captive. Harumi tried flirting with Lloyd, but it was ineffective, except it did seem to bother Lloyd emotionally. She managed to get her sword from Lloyd and ran off. But as Lloyd ran after her, they both fell in quicksand. Then Lloyd convinced Harumi to give him the sword so he can cut some vines to free the both of them. When he pulled Harumi out as well, the force of the pull made her fall on top of him. They fight, but Harumi loses, and Lloyd ties her hands. Later, Harumi gets her sword back again and pursues Lloyd, but thanks to Master Wu and Nya arriving in time, Lloyd jumps on the Destiny's Bounty to safety. Harumi and Lloyd exchange one last glance before she runs off.
In "A Lesson In Anger," Garmadon brings up Harumi while he is teaching Lloyd to achieve his "Oni Form," saying that Harumi would've at least understood what he's getting at. That angered Lloyd, making him conjure the elemental power of Destruction and his hands going purple for a brief moment.
In "Dragon Form," when Lloyd and Garmadon confronted the Crystal King, Lloyd tried again to convince Harumi to change sides, but she still refused. However, when the Crystal King revealed he's the one who corrupted The Great Devourer, Harumi realized it was never the Ninjas' nor Lloyd's fault for her parents' death. She raged towards the Crystal King and chopped his arm off. Then Harumi stated, "You took my parents; you took everything from me!" And continued to attack him. Next, in the last episode, "Roots," Lloyd finally unleashed his "Oni Form" and attacked the Crystal King, but it was short-lived after Lloyd saw his reflection in one of the crystal rocks and transformed back. Then he gets blasted off the Temple by the Crystal King. Upon hearing Lloyd's scream, Harumi yelled his name and reached her hand in the direction he fell. The Crystal King was about to kill Harumi for changing sides, but Lloyd came back with the Golden Ultra Dragon. Towards the end of the battle, Harumi called out his name, and Lloyd told her to take cover, and she listened. When Lloyd defeated the Crystal King, Harumi ran to him, asking if he was okay. After Garmadon revealed he actually faked his death, Lloyd took Harumi aboard the Golden Ultra Dragon before the Temple could collapse on them. When the three returned on the ground with the other Ninjas, they looked at Harumi with disdain, but Lloyd explained that she's on their side now.
At the end of the episode "Roots," Harumi was last seen helping to rebuild the Monastery with the Commissioner beside her. She and Lloyd exchanged a small smile as well.
Behind The Scenes[]
In an interview with Brent Miller (the voice of Zane), Harumi's voice actress, Britt McKillip, was asked if she supported the "Llorumi" pairing. She responded positively, stating that she liked Lloyd and Harumi as a couple and appreciated the development of their relationship.[1] Britt McKillip also shared that if Lloyd and Harumi were to have a child, they would name them Esme.[2] Her favorite line as Harumi was any moment she got to say "Lloyd." When asked which Ninja's personality she found most appealing, she mentioned enjoying Jay's humor but ultimately favored Lloyd for being "The Good Guy" and displaying chivalry. In the end, Lloyd was the personality she liked best.
Fanon[]
Llorumi is a popular ship in the LEGO Ninjago fandom. It even surpassed Jaya, a canon ship in the series at some point. Many people love Llorumi and the characters dynamic as well as their story. Currently, it has more than two hundred works in Archive of Our Own. Multiple fanart pieces have been made too.
However, despite its popularity, people started to hate the ship more, especially after Crystalized was released. Claiming that Harumi would be awful in a relationship with Lloyd due to her actions towards him. Crystalized also created the infamous line of Lloyd saying “It’s okay. She’s with us.” to become a popular inside joke within the Ninjago community. Regardless of that, Llorumi still has supporters, even after Crystalized. It is rivaled by ships such as Llokita.
Fans often pair these characters together, as Harumi is seen as an ideal companion prior to her betrayal. Some fan creations explore alternate universes where Harumi is revived or returns from the Departed Realm, ultimately seeking redemption and reconciling with the Ninja. Ironically, this actually happened later on in Season 15, Crystalized.
