LukaRin is the femslash ship between Megurine Luka and Kagamine Rin from the Vocaloid and Project SEKAI fandoms.
Canon[]
Rin and Luka are characters from the voice synthesizer Vocaloid. The two have in common that were developed by Crypton Future Media, and belong to the CV Series. Because of this, Rin and Luka appear together in many semi-official stuff such Project DIVA or Project SEKAI. However, Rin and Luka doesn't have an official relationship or personalities. Depending on the song, they can be friends, lovers or whatever the song's producer wants them to be.
Songs[]
In the song ANTI THE∞HOLiC (by cosMo), Rin and Luka take the roll of two girls, called Rho and Lambda, respectively. The two philosophy thinking of infinite possibilities to change the future and find a "perfect death". The song Drop Drop Candy (by Giga-P) talks about two separated lovers that want to be together again. Though the pink haired girl from the video seems to be probably Luka, it is not clear if it is a love song between them. In the song A Feeling of Ruin and Ecstasy (by Suzuki-P), Rin and Luka get drunk and slept together. The two are ashamed of this and try to avoid each other, but in the end admit their feelings for each other.
Project SEKAI[]
Their relationship variates depending on the SEKAI. In the Stage SEKAI, Rin seens to admire Luka because of her madurity. Rin ask Luka to help her to performe more grown-up songs. In the Street SEKAI, there is a area conversation where Rin talks with Luka about how KAITO sometimes is not that good teaching her about music, but other times he is. Despite Luka's lack of responsibility in the cafe, Rin doesn't usually get mad at Luka for it, like she usually does with KAITO. In the Empty SEKAI, there is an Area conversation where Luka tries to play a chain-word game with Rin and Luka purposefully chooses words that end in S to annoy Rin.
Fanon[]
LukaRin is a rarepair and sometimes viewed negatively within the fandom because of the age difference in their mascots, with Luka's mascot being 20 and Rin's 14. Still, some disregard this supposed age difference due to the freedom of fan interpretations as there isn't any canon, yet this difference in opinions causes conflict within the Vocaloid fanbase. It is mostly overshadowed by their respective ships with Miku. Some people like the idea, believing that they would look cute together. As well as Luka's cool and mature asthetic contrast with Rin's cutesy. Other people just prefer them platonically. Their poly ship with Miku is pretty popular too. The ship also reach the top 10 for both girls in AO3, being the 7th most writted ship for Luka and the 6th for Rin.
