Mafumiku is the femslash ship between Mafuyu Asahina and Hatsune Miku from the Project SEKAI fandom.
Canon[]
Mafuyu is a third-year high school student at Miyamasuzaka Girls Academy, while Miku is Niigo's initial VIRTUAL SINGER, who was also born from Mafuyu's feelings along the Empty SEKAI. Before the other Niigo members find out about Mafuyu's true personality and her problems with her depression and lost identity, Miku was the only person she dropped her mask around. Most of the time, Miku acts as an emotional support to Mafuyu. As Niigo's "Empty SEKAI" was born from Mafuyu's feelings and want to be saved, Miku is also a representation of her mental state, appearing stoic, silent and thoughtful, although it is shown that deep inside - just like Mafuyu - Miku also wants to be able to emote and is highly curious about the things everyone tells and teaches her about.
Main Story[]
Mafuyu noticing Miku
In Episode 4, Mafuyu goes back to her room after dinner and mutters out "How annoying..." in a frustrated tone. Her mind flashes back on her teacher, classmates and parents telling her that she should do what she wants to, leading to Mafuyu asking herself in a pained voice if such thing even exists. Miku then pops up on her smartphone screen, calls Mafuyu's name, and Mafuyu says she just wishes she could stay in the Empty SEKAI forever.
Mafuyu commands Miku to kick everyone out
In Episode 7, Niigo meet for the first time in real life, and Mafuyu asks Miku why there are other people in the Empty SEKAI. Mafuyu and the other members go back and forth, with Mafuyu eventually stating that being in Niigo wasn't enough to help her find her true self, just like she'd initially thought, and how she has nothing else to say to the others so Miku must kick them out. Miku asks Mafuyu if she really can find what she's looking for all on her own, and Mafuyu bluntly states - how her only option is that she'll have to give up everything else if Miku still thinks Mafuyu has a chance of finding her self. But if she can't find herself even after doing that, she'll then have to just disappear. Miku goes silent and Mafuyu then tells the others off for attempting to talk to her, before repeating that she doesn't want anyone else in her SEKAI and Miku does as commanded, but after sending Kanade out, mutters that they still must find a way to save Mafuyu.
In addition to the main chapters, the first three Niigo's VIRTUAL SINGER sidestories are the only stories that feature only one of the characters together with Miku (in this case, Mafuyu). In the first story "The First Song," Miku watches as Mafuyu write another song and states she must enjoy doing it. Mafuyu answers, that she doesn't understand what it feels like to enjoy something, before the conversation ends and silence falls between them. Miku thinks to herself, Mafuyu will most likely spend the whole time writing songs, how it's the only thing she does whenever she visits the SEKAI and yet it still hasn't helped her find her true feelings yet. Miku starts looking around the SEKAI trying to come up with an idea to help Mafuyu, only to wander around aimlessly. She starts singing one of Mafuyu's songs, who is then surprised that Miku knows about it, before they fall into silence again after Miku tells her she's known it ever since the beginning.
In the second story "Painful Note," which happens after Mafuyu kicks the other Niigo members out of the SEKAI, Miku asks if it really was fine for them to kick them out like that, but Mafuyu affirms that it was the right choice as she can try searching for herself again. Mafuyu gets back to writing songs and Miku notes how "painful" all of her music sounds. Miku starts singing another one of Mafuyu's songs, who gets surprised again and says it doesn't sound like what she had written before. She then clarifies that everyone says her own music sounds gloomy and dark, but it sounds completely opposite when Miku sings it. When Mafuyu mentions Miku's singing sounds like she wants to be saved, the latter asks if those are the feelings Mafuyu had when writing the song. Mafuyu is puzzled before asking if Miku could sing the first song, and after Miku is finished, Mafuyu says it sounded warm a long time ago, but upon hearing it now, she isn't sure how to feel about it. When Mafuyu is about to say it wasn't enough to save her, she claims it's nothing and blocks Miku out as she goes back to composing.
In the third story "Right Here With You," Mafuyu enters the SEKAI, feeling extremely desperate and being on the verge of a breakdown. When Miku suggests she should rest and write some songs, Mafuyu cuts her off with a glare and tells Miku she doesn't want to do anything. Miku asks if something happened, and Mafuyu answers that nothing ever happens and how she's completely done with everything. Mafuyu then tells her to stop and how it wasn't enough to save her after Miku asks if she should sing Mafuyu her "special song." Miku suggests Mafuyu closes her eyes for a bit, which leads to Mafuyu telling the former how she used to do it as a child, how she would imagine all sorts of things relating to acting like the perfect girl she is and leading her to forget her own dreams and loved things. She laments on the fact she can't find herself no matter what she does. Mafuyu lays down in tears next to Miku who tells her she won't leave her side until Mafuyu has found herself. The story ends with Miku thinking how Kanade needs to save Mafuyu as soon as possible.

Fanon[]
Although not as popular as Mafuyu's most popular ships Mafuena and Kanamafu, Mafumiku has a fair share of shippers. Fans particularly enjoy their gimmick as well as the way Miku starts becoming - albeit subtly and slowly - more emotional, which is also an indicative of the change happening in Mafuyu, and the way the two appreciate each other as well as Miku always offering Mafuyu support. However due to the nature of Miku's existence, a lot of people prefer to see them as friends or ship them platonically instead.
