Mafurui is the het ship between Mafuyu Asahina and Rui Kamishiro from the Project SEKAI fandom.
Canon[]
Mafuyu and Rui attend different high schools, However, the two are both third years. They share the similarity of being intelligent. Mafuyu is academically intelligent, however Rui seems to be more intelligent than Mafuyu is since he's an inventor. Before their first proper interactons, Rui seemed to know Mafuyu through Emu and Mizuki in the "What Lies Beyond Guiding a Lost Child" event. Mafuyu and her friends went to watch Wonderlands x Showtime's show, and Rui noticed how Emu was acting strangely, to which Emu confesses that she was attempting to make Mafuyu happy since she seemed gloomy.
At This Festival Bathed in Twilight[]
Mafuyu and Rui interact when Rui gets injured and is taken to the infirmary. Unfortunately, there is no one to help him since all the staff and volunteers were busy. Noticing this, Mafuyu volunteers to help Rui's sprain. When Mafuyu was asking about the symptoms and what caused the sprain, they stumble into a conversation about one's dreams. Mafuyu compliments Emu and Rui regarding about how they were capable of putting effort in what they want straightforwardly, comparing herself to them slightly indirectly. Taking a notice at the strange behavior, Rui asks Mafuyu if she did not have a dream. Mafuyu replies honestly. As Mafuyu finishes with her monologue, Rui compares his middle school self to Mafuyu, giving her a advice. Mafuyu then warns Rui not to do too much otherwise the pain would come back. Rui thanks Mafuyu for her concern and invites her to their show in an attempt to cheer her up.
Rui's attempt to make her smile didn't seem to work, but he manages to make Mafuyu smile by thanking her for treating his wounds. Rui later says that he hopes Mafuyu would find her dream soon.

Mafurui is a rarepair. It has a bit of fanfictions and fanarts. On AO3, Mafurui currently has 30+ romantic works and 70+ gen works. Mafurui is primarily rivaled by RuiKasa and Kanamafu, Mafuyu and Rui's most popular ships respectively. Mafurui was primarily shipped after "At This Festival Bathed in Twilight" since many people saw the similarities between the two and adored how Rui and Mafuyu interacted in the event.
Mafurui shippers believe that Rui will try to constantly help Mafuyu find her real identity like Kanade Yoisaki and helping her follow her or discover own dream furthermore just as he wished. Rui tending to be romantic towards Mafuyu while Mafuyu keeps on a poker face at his actions. Some people that don't ship Mafuyu and Rui tend to headcanon the two as siblings, and some have even attacked Mafurui shippers.
