MakiPana is the femslash ship between Maki Nishikino and Hanayo Koizumi from the Love Live! fandom.

Canon

One day Hanayo walked by the Music classroom, and heard Maki playing the piano and singing. She is so impressed by it that she continues to visit the Music classroom after school, unknown to Maki. While taking care of the alpacas outside, Honoka comes to talk to her, asking about Maki. Hanayo tells her that she thinks Maki has a fantastic singing voice and would make a good idol. One day she sees that Maki forgot her notebook at school and goes to her house to deliver it. Maki is surprised to see Hanayo waiting for her. She is embarrassed that Hanayo came to return her book, but thanks her. While they sit, Hanayo tells Maki how wonderful she thinks her musical abilities are.

Later Maki visits Hanayo at lunch and tells her she has a lovely voice, but needs to work on voice projection. She helps Hanayo practice projecting her voice, and the two sing in harmony for a bit. Rin appears and tells Hanayo she needs to go tell the upperclassmen that she wants to become an idol. Maki says that Hanayo shouldn't be rushed and she needs to build up her confidence first. Rin says that you need to be forceful with Hanayo or she'll never make a decision and starts to drag her by the arm. Maki grabs her other arms and pulls in the opposite direction, saying she'll take Hanayo then. They enter a sort of rivalry and finally reach the rooftop. Maki, along with Rin, support Hanayo to go for being an idol, and simultaneously push Hanayo towards Honoka, Kotori and Umi.

In Hanayo's school idol diary, Maki is most notably concerned with Hanayo getting hungry all the time. She makes sure to reiterate the μ's that they're going shopping for Hanayo because she apparently skipped lunch. Maki actively tries to figure out the root of Hanayo's problem. Maki is surprised that Hanayo can eat two whole lunch boxes a day, but also respects her for being able to. Maki encourages Hanayo to eat and grow a lot.

Fanon

Since the two are first years, Maki and Hanayo are closer than some other pairings, which helped sail the ship. However, MakiPana is not as popular a ship, and is the least popular pairing out of the first years. A charm point of the ship is that both are rather introverted people. Since both are shy with their feelings, many fanworks depict the two with mutual attraction but with no idea about the other. They usually are fighting themselves to confess to each other.
