MakoGiyu is the het ship between Makomo and Giyu Tomioka from the Demon Slayer fandom.
Canon[]
Makomo and Giyu have never met, this is due to the fact Makomo died before Giyu began his training to become a Demon Slayer. However, despite this, the two did have the same mentor which is Urokodaki. Urokodaki took both of them under his wing and taught them water breathing. Makomo and Giyu both finished this training and went on to participate in the final selection. However the two shared a different result, this is since Giyu survived but was injured, while Makomo did not survive.
Even though Makomo and Giyu don’t know each other, they do have something in common besides both being water breathers. Which is that the two of them both are friends with Sabito. Whilst Giyu knew Sabito when Sabito was alive, Makomo met Sabito when he died to the same demon that killed her.
Makomo and Giyu both have a warding mask that was given to them by Urokodaki. In both of their masks the color blue is present, for Giyu it is the color of the eyes while for Makomo it is the color of the flowers.

MakoGiyu is a rare pair in the fandom or a more well-known pairing in the fandom. This mainly depends on whether people pair the two romantically or just see them as friends. For those who pair them romantically, they tend to believe that if Makomo had survived the two might have become friends and would eventually fall in love. Whilst those who rather see the two as friends believe that the two might have become close friends and could possibly share the title of water Hashira, if Makomo had survived.
Since both of them know Sabito, people tend to believe that the two could be there for each other after Sabito's death.
Even though the two have never met each other in canon, it is commonly believed that the two of them alongside Sabito were training under Urokodaki at the same time. Thus, leading people to believe that they were childhood friends along with Sabito. Alongside this people also believed that the three participated in the same final selection. With the result of the final selection in that case being that Makomo and Sabito are the only ones that died, while Giyu would go on to survive. As a result of this, Giyu would go on to mourn about Makomo’s death as well.
People also have created stories where both of them live and would go on to become demon slayers together or even hashira’s togethers. Whilst others have created stories where there are no demons and that the two at some point would meet each other and would go on to become friends or more.
Whilst people pair these two romantically or see them just as friends, there are also people who see Makomo and Giyu as siblings.
