Maleval is the het between Maleficent and Diaval from the Sleeping Beauty fandom.
Canon[]
Maleficent met Diaval when he was being captured by a hunter. She turned him into a human so she could escape him. Diaval asked Maleficent why she had to end his original form. Maleficent replied that she only did it to save him and Diaval said that maybe she would prefer that before changing her form. Maleficent told him to stop complaining because he had saved her life. Diaval finally showed up and offered to become Maleficent's servant for saving him. Maleficent asked him to be her new "wings", spying on what happened in the castle of humans. She sent him to fly to the castle to see what they had done with her wings. Diaval returned to tell her that Stefan had taken her wings to become king, filling her with fury until she created her new throne.
Some time later, Diaval returned to inform him that the king and queen had had a daughter and they were going to celebrate it. This led Maleficent to interrupt the party and cast the baby into eternal sleep. While Maleficent enjoyed all the evil she had caused after that, Daval looked at her questioning her actions. Over time, Maleficent was taking care of Aurora and Diaval followed her, playing with Aurora in the form of a bird.
Over time, Maleficent was using Diaval to turn him into animals and prevent the guards from going through her barrier. In the present, Maleficent turns Diaval into a wolf and Diaval gets very angry saying "dogs" are dirty and hunt birds. Maleficent joked that next time she would turn him into a worm and Diaval replied that he would prefer that.
When they met Aurora in person, Maleficent introduced her to Diaval and turned her into her human form. Later they spent some time playing by the river with Aurora and Maleficent threw mud at Diaval
When they saw Aurora meet Phillip, Diaval realized that he was the solution to the curse that Maleficent had placed and was trying to break. Maleficent replied that this was useless and that true love does not exist, and that is why she added that to the curse. Diaval kept insisting that Phillip was still her only hope. When Maleficent was about to turn Diaval back into an animal, Diaval replied that she didn't care what she turned him into and left. When Aurora realized that Maleficent had put a spell on her, Maleficent asked Diaval to find Phillip for when Aurora fell into her sleep. She later transformed him into a horse to take her to the castle.
When they arrived, Diaval was afraid that they might finish them both off, so Maleficent told him to stay out since it's her war and not his. This offended Diaval for how Maleficent always said that she needed him and now left him behind, muttering it behind her back as she heard it. However, in the end he accompanied her. When they were running away with Aurora but the guards threw iron on Maleficent, she turned Diaval into a dragon to save her. When the battle ended, Maleficent and Diaval began to fly together over the moors.
