Dead or Alive 5[]
Marie Rose saw Honoka during the Fifth DOA Tournament by the time of her disqualification. She considers Honoka amazing due to her fighting skills, likely being a fan of her.
Dead or Alive 6[]
During the Sixth DOA Tournament preparations, Marie Rose was tasked by Helena to watch over Honoka, mostly due to the latter's powers making her a target by a dangerous company called MIST to revive Raidou. During her first mission, Marie Rose firstly meets Honoka in Hidden Garden, accidentally bumped into each other. Marie tried to successfully contact Honoka, introducing herself and ask if she could practice together as she agrees, quickly becoming best friends. On her travels with Honoka, Marie Rose has never left her side, and both have made a strong bond, such as protect each other from a pterodactyl attacking them and then later on train together. Along the way, Marie Rose and Honoka meet some friendly fighters like Elliot, Tina Armstrong, Bass Armstrong, Lei Fang and Hitomi. They also come across Honoka's unknowingly paternal half-sister, Ayane who she kept an eye on, much to Marie Rose annoyance and scolds her for hurting Honoka.
However, as Marie Rose and Honoka were at the DOA Memorial Museum, they soon encounter Ayane again, this time by an ambush, Marie fights her. Unfortunately, they soon realize it was a trap as Christie made their way to kidnap Honoka during their fight. Resisting Christie, a desperate Honoka wanting to go back to be with Marie Rose breaks her ropes and insists she be let free. Sadly, after a hard fight, Honoka lost to Christie as she manages to subdue her. Placing in the machine next to Raidou.
Meanwhile, Marie Rose blames Ayane but after learning the location where Honoka was taken, they worked together to infiltrate MIST's lab. Ayane jams a shutter long enough to allow Marie Rose to escape through, while holds off NiCO. Afterwards, Marie Rose enters at the security and was shocked to discover not only to see Honoka along Ayane, who was also captured, but horrified to learn that MIST's plan is using them to revive Raidou. Things get much worse when Marie Rose ends up caught by Christie, who was able to shoot her until Bayman, who unknown to Marie Rose, have been sent by Helena to retrieve her, interfered and drove Christie off. Bayman insisted Marie Rose to leave, but she refused, as she was going to save Honoka, only for Bayman punch her body. She then wakes up and confronts Bayman only for her being defeated, he tells her there's nothing she can do at this point to save Honoka. Hearing this, Marie feeling sad has no choice but to accept it, she begins praying for Honoka hoping for her safety.
Sometime later, Marie sees Kasumi, Ayane and Hayate holding Honoka, he gives it to her. Marie tries to wake Honoka up, although she is left unconscious from an explosion caused by Raidou's revival. Soon, she and the others leave the lab, Helena comes passing by and assures she did well in her mission to protect Honoka despite the situation.

MariHono is extremely a higher popular ship in the Dead or Alive fandom since both debuted in Dead or Alive 5 and made appearances in many crossovers. In one of Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 polls, Marie Rose was voted as the 1st most popular character with Honoka being 2nd most popular character.
Her intentions to "befriend" Honoka as part of the mission Helena gave, Marie Rose didn't feel comfortable herself at pretending to be someone's friend who has never meet. Luckily, Marie Rose quickly befriends Honoka as they can't let go of each other, holding a strong bond. Leading many fans definitely ship them romantically. In Dead or Alive Xtreme 3, when a player selects Honoka to be with Marie Rose, she gets jealous, telling her not to look at other girls.
