MarkLucy is the het ship between Mark Twain and Lucy Maud Montgomery from the Bungou Stray Dogs fandom.
Canon[]
Mark and Lucy are both part of the Guild and it’s unknown when they first met, though it’s likely it was before the events of the Guild Arc. Mark and Lucy do not interact very much in the series; however, they show a rowdy dynamic with bickering and insults in their brief interactions. Lucy gets annoyed by Mark’s behavior and the former seems entertained by her reactions.
Anime and manga[]
The Guild Arc[]
In Volume 5 Omake, Nathaniel, Margaret, Herman and Mark are inside the Guild's chopper which is completely crowded with dolls. They ask Mark how did that happen and he starts to explain that it was all Lucy's idea. Days ago, before the Guild's pre-drop to Yokohama, James L. and Fitzgerald together with Lucy were inside the Guild's chopper with a lot of Lucy's dolls. James asks Lucy about the dolls to which the latter only replies that they are cute. James turns to Fitzgerald and asks if he can say something to Lucy about the toys inside the helicopter. Fitzgerald just expresses his amazement by the idea describing how innovative the interior is for a helicopter.
After evacuating the Moby Dick, Mark escorts and bickers with a captured Lucy out of a helicopter after she helped Atsushi escape. Lucy gets mad complaining how they didn’t have to tie her up, kicking Mark's leg, saying that she wants to be let go. Mark yelps in pain and the two bicker over this. Steinbeck, seeing this, taunts Mark by saying that his trip with Lucy seems to be very pleasant. Mark gets upset at Steinbeck, telling the latter to not just watch and help him. Mark adds Lucy’s kicking was the first combat wound he received in the mission. However, Steinbeck gets straight to the point and starts talking about Lucy’s betrayal against the Guild. Lucy replies that she knew about the consequences and that if she had not help Atsushi so then, he would not have escaped. Mark shows his compassion for her and says that he is very touched by her story. As they turn to Louisa to ask for their next course of action, Mark suggests they all go to the karaoke, only for Lucy to stomp his foot in response.
Later, he leaves together with Steinbeck, Louisa, and Lucy to avoid getting caught in the fall of Moby Dick. Afterwards the Guild lost the war, Mark tells Louisa and Steinbeck about his plans to return home in order to finish his autobiography.
BSD Wan![]
Chapter 67 is about Mark's life in The Guild and some moments which he had when he was working there. While The Guild is on relax, Mark together with his abilities Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer describe their daily life. In one moment, sitting on chair, Mark talks about his "Twain's biggest success diary". He says that some things like that happened before like the moment in season 2 episode 5 (Chapter 18) in The Guild Arc. When he suggested to other The Guild members to drive around there after their easy victory on Armed Detective Agency. Margaret, Nathaniel and Steinbeck tell him how amazing his idea is and they definitely should do it. Lucy stops him by saying that his story is not real and that his diary differed from reality. Mark tells Lucy that it is important to heat the truth which Lucy answers him by saying that he's telling a fictional story.
In Chapter 127, Fitzgerald shows to The Guild members a advertisement about a festival located below Moby Dick. James L. starts telling them what he knows about this event and Mark becomes very interested in it. He says that they all should definitely go there. Fitzgerald agrees and all of them participate on it. However, it turns out that it was all a Fitzgerald's plan to preduce money. Mark and Lucy work together in a shop and sell taiyaki. Mark is shocked and tells that it is different than they have told. Lucy gets angry and tells him that they have many orders. Also, she tells him to take responsibility for things he has cause. Mark asks If it is his fault and points out the fact that she is a reliable person. Lucy answers that she does not know and maybe she is just pretty good in this.
Fanon[]
MarkLucy is not very popular because of sharing lesser screen time together in series. Sometimes, it's shipped along with AtsuKyou, because of wanting for Lucy to have her second half too, Mark is seen to be a second character which Lucy had some interaction with after Atsushi and because of their similar but at the same time different personalities. Also, due to the high possibility of that AtsuKyou may become canon in the future because of the multiple hints in anime and manga. Its biggest rival ship is AtsuLucy.
