Markning is the slash ship between Marker and Lightning from the Battle for Dream Island fandom.

Battle for BFDI[]
After Lightning questions why he is following Pencil and Match's orders, he flies over to Marker and Stapy, asking if they want to be friends. Marker declines, leaving Lightning disappointed and electrocuting Flower in response.
Marker and Lightning were looking at Donut through a camera and were confused about why they couldn't see him until Lightning zoomed out.
The Power of Two[]
Marker makes an attempt to join the same team as Foldy, but is thrown away by Bell. Conveniently, Marker lands in front of Lightning who had just denied Snowball's request to be on the same team. Marker eagerly asks if he would like to be friends. Lightning accepts Marker's friend request but is still salty about Marker refusing his offer back in BFB.
In the episode prior, Remote loses her battery and Death P.A.C.T works together to purchase a new battery. While struggling to acquire the battery from Robot Flower, they find a paper clip that Marker fixates on. The team makes a deal with Cloudy to get a new battery, however Marker expresses he doesn't want to trade his paper clip away. Lightning rolls his eyes over Marker's request, but still confirms Cloudy knows the deal excludes Marker's new paper clip.
Teardrop destroys Death P.A.C.T's block tower, Marker exclaims he thinks they should enact a revenge plan against her. Lightning gets excited over Marker's proposed revenge.
While being hunted down by Teardrop, the duo and Blackhole hide behind a fence. While discussing what they can do, Lightning exclaims for Marker to get down and protect himself from her. Marker not hearing this in time, is saved by Lightning as he pushes him over to protect him. Ironically, this action to save him causes the death of Tennis Ball and Pen. The duo both panic as they realize they have both accidentally caused death protecting the other. They both charge towards Teardrop, however she kills Lightning immediately with her Zap Shooter. Marker, angered, immediately avenges Lightning's death by attacking and biting her to steal her Zap Shooter. While he is successful in his revenge for Lightning's death, Teardrop still shoots him with her gun killing him immediately.
When they're both recovered, Marker commentates that the ground is tingly, Lightning adds to it by saying he don't feel anything.
Marker pulled Lightning's bracelet off his arm to send him back to the grasslands.
Lightning asks how they're going to communicate underwater, and Marker says that they'll use yoyle dance. Lightning says his idea is genius.
Marker thanks Lightning for melting the ice covering the surface.
Lightning accidentally sets Marker on fire when he turns on the stove in Gelatin's Steakhouse.
When Lightning grabs the fish from the cabinet, he tosses it to Marker and tells him to catch.
Tree tells his team he found a time-reversal machine, and Lightning tells him to use it on Marker.
Fanon[]
Markning is somewhat of a popular ship within the Battle for Dream Island fandom. This may be due to both of them being fairly unpopular characters, but their both of the respective characters most popular ship. It's also overshadowed by its rivalry ships, Snowlight (The ship between Snowball and Lightning) and Starker (The ship between Marker and Stapy). The ship started in TPOT 1 when Marker asked Lightning if he wanted to be friends. The fandom liked how Lightning still wanted to be friends even after Marker rejecting in BFB 1.
The ship has little to no fan fictions made for it ironically. On AO3 there are currently only two works. While Wattpad has only one story made for the ship.
