Marody is the het ship between Marianne "Manon" Vacher and Rody Lamoree from the Dead Plate fandom.

Canon[]

Manon and Rody were former lovers since the beginning of the game. Manon had parted ways with Rody due to him focusing intently on her desires and needs, thus spending immense amounts of money on her. She is worried that her being present in their romantic relationship will ruin his financial and personal health. Despite Rody pleading for her to stay she tells him that he needs to be focusing on himself and makes their breakup official. However, this did not prevent him from attempting to win her back.

He went through many jobs to earn enough money for her return, and in the present he lands on a gourmet restaurant known as "La Queule de Saturne" owned by Chef Vincent Charbonneau. He applies as a substitute waiter. In one of Rody's many days of working, he asks his employer, Vincent, for a raise. His boss replies with a scoff and declines. He asks why Rody needed one in the first place; Rody explains that it is for Manon and he is striving to earn considerable amounts of money by the end of the week.

He clarifies that if Vincent were to give him a raise he would be able to afford something very special for her. Vincent, skeptical, asks if Manon is excessive with cash. Rody is visibly puzzled by this question. He initially declares the idea as false before hesitating into admitting that Manon is a slightly materialistic woman. However, as put in his words, she isn't prissy. Regardless of her levels of greediness, he believes she is worth every cent of his pay.

As the game progresses, there are a multitude of endings. One ending involves Rody quitting his job. He proceeds to find a nearby phone booth to call Manon to no avail. In another, if the game is played out correctly, Vincent will "invite" Rody to his dinner party. Eager and anxious, Rody will arrive at the apartment of the chef only to discover he's being hired as a caterer.

Rody decides to explore the apartment and stumbles upon Vincent's room. Looking out the window, an unsettling mysterious silhouette of Manon briefly appears before disappearing. Rody doesn't make a comment on this. Obtaining Vincent's freezer key from his room, Rody can enter the freezer the next day after closing hours. In the freezer, much to his utter shock and horror, he finds Manon's locket covered in blood. Vincent catches him before he can process the terrifying truth.

Rody wakes up in the freezer, his body restrained by ropes. If he has a lighter on him he will use it to burn the ropes and escape unscathed. Vincent immediately catches him and engages in a chase. Having a heated conversation with him will reveal that Manon had "dated" Vincent in the past after her and Rody's breakup. Vincent was never interested in her, but she was completely enamored by him.

When Vincent caught on about Manon being his ex-lover, he decided to murder the woman and cook her into one of his delicious meals. To make matters worse, he gives it to Rody in hopes of the latter finding love in the dish. The Manon-Vincent relationship reveals why Rody had previously seen a crumpled up photograph of the two in Vincent's office bin; and various discarded love letters. If Rody defeats Vincent and burns down the restaurant, he processes the unyielding trauma with getting something to eat.

Fanon[]

Marody is the second most popular ship in the fandom. The lovebirds original Sickenly Sweethearts trope captured many fans attention from the audience. Some find it very heartwarming that Rody will go through many hardships to win Manon's affection back. The angst within the ship's premise is yet another factor for positive attention. Although the ship is still overshadowed by Rodincent, they are often paired alongside Vincent Charbonneau as a platonic and or romantic trio.

Some fans argued that Manon does not deserve the sympathy nor positive attention from Rody. This, however, was a case of mischaracterization as confirmed by official creator, RachelDrawsThis. Often there are humorous skits or art depictions of Manon and Vincent fighting over Rody's affection despite Manon being attracted to Vincent canonically.
