Archon Quests[]
Xilonen is first mentioned by Mavuika as one of the six heroes of Natlan who had already been acknowledged by her Ancient Name. When an Ancient Name is needed to be forged for the Traveler, Mavuika immediately tasks Xilonen with forging it, placing a great deal of trust in the renowned blacksmith to figure out the previously never-before-done task. Upon finding out about this, Xilonen is exasperated, having become used to the Pyro Archon continuously giving her demanding and unexpected requests. She complains at length about Mavuika for a bit before resigning to her fate and noting that this task also means that Mavuika strongly believes in her abilities.
Afterwards, when Mavuika is seeking a way to stop the Fatui from going after the Source Mechanism, Xilonen is one of the people she brings along with her in her small infiltration team. Mavuika assigns Xilonen with launching the main assault by digging a tunnel directly to the device while the Fatui are distracted outside. Xilonen agrees but makes Mavuika promise to not act recklessly on her own, reminding Mavuika of how important she is to everyone as the Pyro Archon.
Xilonen further expresses concern when she finds out Mavuika is fated to die in the war against the Abyss. When the war does finally begin, Xilonen reflects on the dire situation and how Mavuika had once seen it all before. After Mavuika gives a speech midway through the war, Xilonen offers everyone present to take a moment of silence for the fallen. Xilonen promises to Mavuika that she’ll complete the Traveler’s Ancient Name before the Pyro Archon’s final battle.
In the tutorial screen that pops up when using Mavuika’s flamestrider for the first time, it is revealed that Xilonen had modified the flamestrider at least 14 times at Mavuika’s request. On the 14th round of modifications, the flamestrider was made to be able to travel on Spiritways so that Mavuika could travel on them like those from the People of the Springs despite not being from their tribe.
Mavuika’s Story Quest[]
Following the end of the war in Natlan, Mavuika travels around visiting the different tribes to check up on them when she suddenly encounters Xilonen resting right outside the Masters of the Night-Wind. Xilonen is startled upon seeing Mavuika and it is quickly revealed that Xilonen has been avoiding the Pyro Archon to not have to take any work from her. Mavuika admits that she did indeed have many items she’d wanted Xilonen to make and had even gone to Xilonen’s place directly to request them, only to find Xilonen missing each time.
Not liking the conversation topic, Xilonen switches it to ask what Mavuika is even doing here on the outskirts of Natlan. Mavuika explains and also brings up the revival of the first Pyro Archon, which peaks Xilonen’s interest - Xilonen had been too busy fleeing from Mavuika to hear about this news. She inquires about how Mavuika feels about it, wondering if Mavuika feels nervous about the former Archon potentially coming to supervise her work. Mavuika jokingly responds that Xilonen sounds a bit pleased about the possibility, and the two playfully banter back-and-forth for a bit before Xilonen abruptly pretends to fall asleep when Mavuika brings up blacksmith work she wants Xilonen to work on again. Mavuika takes the clue and amusedly tells Xilonen to sleep well before leaving.
Later, when checking up on the Collective of Plenty, Mavuika notes on how the Children of Echoes must also be doing well based on Xilonen’s recent behavior. With her checking up all done, Mavuika notes how the last task she has to do is to convince Xilonen to smith some things for the next couple of days, to which Iansan imagines would make Xilonen react quite negatively. After Mavuika praises Iansan’s mock course, Iansan reveals that Xilonen had actually worked on part of it, and that the latter had done so voluntarily after finding out that Mavuika had been the one to ask for it. Mavuika decides to take this as part of the reason that Xilonen holds some negative views about her. She blames Iansan for about 30% of the negativity, but Iansan pushes back, saying only 10% at most.
In the tutorial screen that appears when using Mavuika’s flamestrider in the mock course, it is mentioned that after many, many modifications by a resigned Xilonen, the flamestrider was modified to have many travel capabilities like those belonging to each of the different tribes in Natlan.
Other[]
Mavuika is the one quoted in Xilonen’s character introduction. In this introduction, Mavuika is excitedly and loudly rambling her ideas outside Xilonen’s workshop, wondering if the blacksmith is even there after getting no response back.
In the lore behind Mavuika’s flamestrider, Xilonen initially thinks Mavuika is absolutely crazy upon first hearing about her idea. After much convincing from an enthusiastic Mavuika and seeing all the blueprints and possible solutions that she’d brought over, however, Xilonen reconsiders and agrees - if only because she was also interested in making such a creation, too. The two work together for a long time on it, researching and replanning until they are finally able to get a working flamestrider for Mavuika to ride. When the testing phase came around, however, Xilonen excuses herself from testing it herself, claiming to have forgotten to make a second helmet and not wanting to end up motion sick from Mavuika’s driving.
In Mavuika’s voiceline about Xilonen, Mavuika praises Xilonen as one of the best Natlan craftsmen who isn’t afraid to tackle any challenge. In Xilonen’s voiceline about Mavuika, Xilonen goes on a long monologue about all the ridiculous commissions Mavuika has had her make, including a heat-resistant sword, her sunglasses that could see through flames, and her flaming bike. Thus, in hindsight, Xilonen thinks Mavuika’s most recent task of forging an Ancient Name for an outlander to be relatively reasonable, coming from her.

Fanon[]
Mavuinen first emerged with the release of the Natlan teaser trailer, by being 2 characters of the “tall female” model that viewers found aesthetically pleasing. They became more popular after it was revealed that the two have worked closely before, partly from Xilonen being one of the Heroes of Natlan and also from Xilonen being the blacksmith that Mavuika most often seeks out to build out her ideas, including Mavuika’s flamestrider.
Fans were quick to pick up on how despite seemingly being annoyed by Mavuika’s endless requests, Xilonen always takes her tasks seriously and even goes out of her way to help if she knows a request is specifically from Mavuika. Fans also noticed how the two also express an immense amount of trust and camaraderie with one another and are comfortable enough to poke fun at each other. In fact, of the six heroes, Xilonen is the only one to refer to Mavuika by name. All other heroes refer to her as the Pyro Archon. They have known each other for years and are implied to be close companions.
They are currently the most popular WLW ship from Natlan, being somewhat rivaled by Xilosca and are considered the main “yuri pair” representing Natlan equivalent to Jeanlisa for Mondstadt, Beiguang for Liyue, EiMiko for Inazuma, Candehya for Sumeru, and Clorivia for Fontaine - although Mavuinen is still significantly less popular than the aforementioned femslash ships.
