Games[]

In Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon games, during the story at no time is it directly revealed, but according to what Gladion tells the player in Aether Paradise after beating the Pokémon league, it is revealed that Mohn is really Lusamine's husband and Gladion and Lillie's father. Mohn and Lusamine investigated in the past about the Ultra Beasts and Ultra Space, but one day, Mohn managed to open an Ultra-Wormhole in full investigation, because of this, Mohn suddenly disappeared and Lusamine fell into a deep depression that gradually led her to the craziness. Both of her children were left in the custody of their unstable mother, Lusamine, prior to the events of Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon. Gladion blames his father for his mother's madness, mentioning that in reality, Lusamine's madness and obsession with Ultra Beasts was nothing more than her own way of trying to find him again.

In Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon games, the story is more focused on Lusamine's missing husband. This time, Gladion talks about his father during the main plot. At the end of these games, Gladion decides to travel to Kanto to improve, and when a month passes since the player captured or defeated Necrozma at Mount Lanakila, Gladion will be able to appear in the Pokémon league as one of the challengers, having returned from Kanto with a more powerful Pokémon team. After defeating him, the player can go to Aether Paradise, where Mohn will now be found at the entrance.

Upon approaching, a cinematic begins in which Mohn admires the care of the Pokémon in the facilities, shortly after Lusamine appears, who meets him and is stunned. Lusamine, nervous, only answers his questions, since she realizes that Mohn doesn't remember anything at all. Both agree that the Pokémon must be cared for and protected, and Mohn is very happy. Finally, Lusamine lets Mohn go, and he returns to the Poké Pelago and Gladion, who has watched from a distance, approaches and asks his mother why she hasn't told Mohn. Lusamine replies that knowing he is happy and seeing his smile once more is enough for her.

Anime[]

During his youth, Mohn came to the Alola region to learn more about the Ultra-Wormholes and took the opportunity to travel the island, convincingly defeating the Kahuna Kaudan, using only his Zoroark. Around this time, he acquired a Z-Power Ring and a Magearna at an antique shop, the workings of which he searched everywhere in order to give it to his newborn daughter, Lillie.

Mohn's investigations led this young trainer to create the Aether Foundation, in the company of his wife, Lusamine, and his most trusted assistants, Faba and Wicke. However, in one of his studies of the Ultra Wormholes, he was sucked into one of them and taken to the Ultra Space, where he was badly injured and lost his memory. Fortunately, an Ultra Beast named Nihilego took care him and transported him to the Crown Tundra in the Galar region. The ultra beast took care of Mohn, based on his memories, he pretended to be his youngest daughter and to prevent him from recovering his memory one day and abandoning him, Nihilego hid all traces of his old identity, hiding even all mirrors and making the windows dirty.

Meanwhile, in their homeland, Mohn's dissappearance seriously threatened the mental health of Lusamine, who also became obsessed with the ultra-Wormholes, but seeing that her efforts to recover her husband were useless, she assumed that he had died. In addition, Mohn's disappearance greatly affected his workers, who held him in high esteem.

Pokémon The Series: Sun and Moon[]

He is mentioned for the first time in "Showdown on Poni Island!", where Gladion indicates that the only memory he has of his father is of a time when he ruffled his hair. Lillie also mentions that she doesn't remember anything, but she has seen the photos her mother has of him in her office. Gladion's visit to Poni is due to Tapu Fini's mystical powers, which allow people to contact others who have passed away. Failing to meet him during the episode "Memories in the Mist!", Hapu concludes that the father of both siblings is still alive somewhere.

He is remembered by Lusamine in "The Secret Princess!", at the moment in which she is absorbed by an Ultra-Wormhole and taken to the Ultra Space. Then Hala remembers when this trainer managed to overcome his great test, along with his Pokémon, Zoroark. At the end of the chapter he is remembered when he finds Magearna and decides to restore it to give it to his daughter Lillie, leaving enough information in his diaries so that it can be given proper functioning.

In "Chasing Memories, Creating Dreams!", after Gladion finds the Zoroark that once belonged to Mohn, it creates an illusion that transports the boy to one of the mansion's rooms, where Mohn is shown sharing with his newborn daughter, trying to comfort her crying and Lusamine being proud of it. In another Zoroark's illusion in "Dreaming of the Sun and Moon!", Mohn is seen quite cheerful in a flashback, seeing his little daughter walk for the first time.

In the season finale, in "Thank You, Alola! The Journey Continues!", Lusamine and her family announce that they are leaving Alola to search for Mohn, aided by Magearna and Zoroark.

Pokémon Journeys: The Series[]

Although not seen, Lillie writes a letter to Ash's group and her friends in Alola where she reveals that she continues to search for her father, Mohn, along with her mother Lusamine and brother Gladion. In that memory, when Lana reads the letter to her friends in the episode "That New Old Gang of Mine!", they can see that Lillie feels that she is getting closer and closer to her father and in her wishes she sends greetings to her Pokémon School classmates and expresses her desire to see them again.

Lusamine happy for Mohn

Lusamine is happy for seeing Mohn again.

Lusamine and her family continue to search tirelessly for her husband Mohn, without losing hope of meeting him again... even in the Blizzard. Finally, Mohn is found in "The Homecoming Crown!", where he can be seen inhabiting one of the little houses in Freezington with the Nihilego whom he considers his daughter and its name is the same as his daughter's. Although Lusamine and her family are shocked to see him after so long, he denies having seen them anywhere, but cordially invites them to tea and introduces them to who he thinks is his daughter. Immediately, his real wife Lusamine and children realize Nihilego's identity and do their best to help Mohn regain his memory. After gathering enough information, Lusamine reveals to Mohn that the Ultra Beast is not her daughter and Gladion tells him that this Pokémon has done everything possible to prevent him from regaining her memory, because Nihilego loves Mohn a lot and wants him to be its father. Instantly, Gladion shows him a mirror and Mohn remembers what happened to him. This greatly saddens Nihilego, but Mohn's family head him off to join them before returning to Alola. Nihilego accepts to be caught in the Beast Ball and is welcomed in Lusamine's family.

He returns to his homeland during "Helping the Hometown Hero!" and is greeted by a feast led by Hala. As soon as he arrives, all the Aether Foundation staff are shocked and he apologizes for making them worry. Also, he meets Rotom Pokédex, who interrupts Faba's welcome to introduce himself. Later, Mohn decides to watch the Battle Royale that commemorated the triumphant return of the First Alolan Champion, Ash, since Gladion was one of the participants. Although Gladion loses very easily, Mohn recognizes that he has become quite strong and is very proud. Since then, the whole family of Mohn and Lusamine lives in Alola its happy days... again.

Fanon[]

MeanBeanShipping is fairly popular within the Sun and Moon fanbase. Their fans did not lose faith and hope that Lusamine would find Mohn soon, no matter what, until Mohn was finally found.

It is one of the two notable canon ships along with EternalHoneymoonShipping (Kukui/Burnet), as they are the only two ships in Sun and Moon that have a deeper plot, however, this ship is not usually talked about much throughout the Pokémon anime due to Mohn and Lusamine debuting in a season that was considered "bad" by fans, especially because of the drastic change in drawing style . Other canon ships just aren't usually popular, such as AccordShipping (Tonio/Alice), DivergentShipping (Joshua/Erica), BickerShipping (Oscar/Andi), Brock'sHormonesShipping (Flint/Lola), BalanceShipping (Norman/Caroline), etc. In the West its popularity is not higher than in Japan, because of Ash's ships.

It is usually one of the canon ships also preferred by fans who tend to go only for completely canon ships and also by those who have lost all faith in Ash's ships.
