MegaOp is the slash ship between Megatron and Optimus Prime from the Transformers fandom.

Megatron and Optimus have been enemies in every adaptation of the Transformers franchise. Ever since it's first series. Various series will often change what their relationship is. Some will only have them be enemies and not know each other before becoming leaders of the Decepticons and Autobots. Others will have them be old friends adding a bit more tragedy to their fights.

DECOY
Optimus is fighting one of Soundwave's cassette's, Ravage, and asks if Megatron is going to help. Megatron points out that he's busy with Laserbeak, but is able to defeat him, only to get knocked aside by Frenzy. Frenzy grabs the badge the tapes had been keeping from Megatron and Optimus, and when Megatron gets up, Megatron says that's on him. He tells him to stop pulling his punches, as the Decepticons are criminals, but Megatron believes that they just want to live in peace. Optimus points out the badge that they stole and Megatron says it was a childish prank. He believes that the cassette's wouldn't hurt anyone, when Frenzy shoots at him from the bushes. Optimus gloats and goes to grab Frenzy, only for all three cassette's to launch an earsplitting screech and trap them. They continue their fight, and Optimus tells Megatron to use his cannon, but Megatron says it's not for swatting flies.
They continue the fight till Bumblebee arrives with restraints, much to Megatron's unease. Bee offers one to Megatron to put on Laserbeak, but Megatron says he'll never tough them. Optimus says that it's a means to an end, but Megatron doesn't like that G.H.O.S.T. decides where Decepticons live, and what form they take. Saying that it's not freedom. Optimus says that they struck a bargain with them, and asks if Megatron remembers what it means to keep his word. Megatron laughs at Optimus' belief that G.H.O.S.T. is keeping their bargain, when he hears Bee put a restraining bolt on Laserbeak. He grabs Bee and tells him to get away from him, but Optimus stands between the two and says that Bee was just doing his job. Megatron says that they don't deserve a lifetime of imprisonment, and Optimus says that Megatron is forgetting his oath. Megatron says he gave that to save their people, not to be a G.H.O.S.T. lackey. Optimus is offended at the term, and the two are close to coming to blows. Bee then interrupts and the two glare at him.
As they drive, awkward silence between Megatron and Optimus, Optimus tells Bee they'll have to part due to a G.H.O.S.T. checkpoint up ahead. Megatron laughs and Optimus asks if there's something funny. Megatron points out that Optimus won't trust G.H.O.S.T. with the knowledge of Bumblebee, but is okay handing over every Decepticon. Optimus says that he doesn't have the luxury of throwing a tantrum when things don't go his way, unlike Megatron. Megatron says that at least he doesn't follow orders blindly like a coward.
When Soundwave reveals himself, Megatron and Optimus fight him. Soundwave knocks Optimus to the side and is about to attack again, but Megatron knocks him to the side. He's about to fire, when Soundwave calls him a traitor. It cuts deep and Megatron lowers his weapon. Soundwave fires, and Optimus steps in front able to block it from hitting Megatron with his axe. He says that Megatron is a better protector of their kind than Soundwave, and Megatron asks if Soundwave would like to see how well he works with his new team. They then take out Soundwave, and are able to capture him.
After the rest of the Autobots drive off, Megatron thanks Optimus for having his back, even though he said some thing Optimus might not appreciate. Optimus says that he needed to hear it, and that if he vouches for the cassette's, he'll look the other way. Megatron does so and the cassette's run off. Megatron says that maybe Optimus' leadership style isn't too different from his own, and Optimus suggests that Megatron is just growing to appreciate it.
AGE OF EVOLUTION
Optimus and Megatron arrive at the G.H.O.S.T. base for a press conference, with Megatron being openly annoyed by the whole thing. Optimus pulls him to the side and says they're supposed to be celebrating the alliance, not destroying it. Megatron asks how he can stand for them to be treated like G.H.O.S.T.'s dogs, but Optimus remind him that it's been 30 years (well, 15 for Megatron). He needs to get a new grudge. Megatron is still annoyed, but they're interrupted when Mo yells hi to them. They both wave to her when two jets fly over. They both realize that it's actually Decepticons, and Megatron pulls out his gun while Optimus yells for everyone to get down.
They fight Skywarp and Nova Storm, and have moment to break. Optimus says that they seem to wants his left arm like their lives depend on it, and Megatron says that they can have his fist instead. Megatron engages with Nova, when Optimus is attacked by Skywarp who starts cutting into him. Megatron sees this, and calls out to him. He flies down and gets Skywarp off of him, and they're both able to subdue the two. Megatron says that the seekers are the reason humans fear them, but Optimus insists that they don't fear them. Skywarp teleports out and is able to take Nova with her as they retreat. Optimus says that every one saw them protect the humans from the seekers, but Megatron says all it's done is given humanity more reason to fear them.
Megatron observes that their destruction of Mandroid's base has made him mad, and Optimus says he knows a way to make him angrier. He says that someone needs to take out the canon, and Megatron says that he can count on him. He takes Optimus hand, only to feel a pair in his arm, energon leaking out. Optimus says that he can't do this, but Megatron says that he has too, only for Twitch to fly out of their hiding spot and attack.
After the battle, Megatron looks over his wound and laments that they actually could have used G.H.O.S.T.'s help. Despite their talk of helping, it's always the cybertronians that bear the scars. Optimus says to look closer and points to the Malto's as the true human cybertronian alliance. He places his hand on Megatron's shoulder and says that this is what they can look to for the future of both of their species.

MegaOp is one of the most popular and well known ships within and outside of the Transformers fandom. The ship is most often considered the rival of MegaStar, Optiratch and MegaSound. The ship is a classic enemies to lovers ship, although different fans will add their own twists and interpretations of their relationship.
Those that ship the two from the Prime series, believe that the two give off more of a "divorced energy" during the series. Many felt that the two being friends who used to be on the same side before Megatron started the Decepticons adds to this idea. Prime shippers tend to write fic of the two before the events of the series and play into the backstory. Depicting their relationship from when Optimus was Orion Pax and the two were fighting for the same idea. There tends to be a lot of angst in these fics.
MegaOp has over 3,600 works on AO3 altogether. It is the most written ship for both Megatron and Optimus Prime. MegaOp is also the sixth most written ship in the Tranformers Generation One tag, the fifth most written ship in the The Transformers (IDW Generation One) tag, the fourth most written in the Transfromers (Bay Movies) and Transformers: Cyberverse tags, the second most written in the Transformers: Prime and Transformers - All Media Types tags and the most written in the Transformers Animated (2007) tag.
