Meiriam is the femslash ship between Mei Lee and Miriam Mendelsohn from the Turning Red fandom.
Canon[]
Mei and Miriam are really close and have known each other since childhood. At the beginning of the movie, when Mei gets to school and meets with Miriam, the two of them share a special handshake between each other to greet one another. After school, as the two of them say goodbye, alongside their friends, Miriam asks her to dance to some 4*TOWN song, a band that they're both fans of. Mei says she's not in the mood at first, but then dances with Miriam excitedly, singing to every word. Since she does so well, Miriam gifts her a limited-edition 4*TOWN CD, and Mei gets so happy about it, that she tightly hugs Miriam, making Miriam smile brightly. despite the two of them being best friends, Mei's mom disproves of Miriam by calling her odd, which deeply saddens Mei.
After the Daisy Mart incident where Mei's mom embarrassed her in front of Tyler, a kid from school, and all of the people at the store, Mei turns into a big red panda. This deeply troubles her, but she realizes that if she remains calm, she can regain her human form. But she can't keep calm at school, and in math class, Miriam notices this and asks her how she is and even shuts some people in her class who were talking behind Mei's back. Then, as the class starts, they start communicating through some written notes, with little hearts on them. And Miriam is the first person to warn Mei of the fact her mother was watching her from outside the school.
The next morning, when Miriam, Abby and Priya go to Mei's house and discover that she has turned into this giant red panda, as Abby excitedly talks about how fluffy she is, and as Priya admires her tail, Miriam tells them to calm down for Mei's sake. She gets close to Mei as she is in the middle of a panic attack, and softly caresses her cheek, telling her that everything will be alright. Mei completely disregards this, as she tells her friends and Miriam to leave her alone, crying. At that moment, Miriam decides to sing one of 4*TOWN songs to cheer her up. This ends up calming her, and as Miriam and her friends hug Mei, she says that she will love her no matter what, "with or without panda." Immediately after the hug, Mei goes back to her human form, which Miriam remarks she looks beautiful in, with her new red hair. After Mei hears her mom coming, she immediately tells her friends to leave, but not before she tells Miriam that her mom already doesn't like her, to Miriam's confusion.
Later on, Mei and her friends start making a plan to get the money necessary to afford the tickets to 4*TOWN's concert ($800), after they realize Mei's panda form has gathered so much attention that people are willing to pay to see it. And on Tyler's birthday, as they're celebrating they have reached the amount of money they needed on the roof of the house, Miriam turns around to face Mei. She asks Mei if maybe she should just not do the ritual and to keep the panda. Mei firmly opposes this, but Miriam tells her that she's so proud of Mei for how much she's grown from the girl that did everything to please her parents and tells her not to get rid of the panda since she has changed. Mei, Abby, Priya, and Miriam celebrate their victory of seeing 4 Town.
However, their celebration is cut short when they hear from the radio that 4 Town concert will be the same night as the panda ritual and Abby had misread the date wrong. Mei angrily attacks Tyler as well when he kept demanding she give him and everybody else panda rides, but mei angrily refused. Mei then attacked Tyler in a fit of rage when he kept insulting her, her mom, and her temple, scaring the other kids, but when Ming arrived, Mei stopped and realize what she has done. Things start to go horribly wrong when Mei's mom Ming accuses her friends of personally taking advantage of Mei, sneaking out and attacking Tyler. They try to reason with her, but Ming doesn't listen and when Miriam tries to get Mei to tell her mom the truth about what happen, Mei stays silent, much to her friends sadness. After Mei and her mom leave, Miriam picks up Mei's toy and both her, Priya and Abby decide to go to the concert without her.
At the concert, the girls are sad that Mei isn't there with them and they order three tickets to get in the concert. But just then, Mei leaps into the concert and Mei tells her friends she couldn't do the ritual and says she couldn't lose them too. Miriam is still upset Mei threw them under the bus, but Mei apologizes by saying she's been under her mom's approval for so long and she was done with it. Before Mei can leave, Priya and Abby snitch on Miriam by telling Mei that Miriam had taken care of her toy and hands it to her and both her friends make up after saying 4 townie forever. After hugging, the girls see Tyler is at the concert and is a huge fan of Aaron Z. The girls hug him tightly and welcome him into their sisterhood. As the concert begins, both girls and Tyler cry with joy hearing 4 town sing until Ming arrives in her giant panda form and destroys the concert. Miriam, Priya, Abby, and Tyler are both happy to see Mei stand up to her mom after Mei tells her mom the truth about her hustling the panda and going to Tyler's party. While Mei is distracting her mom, Miriam and the gang get 4 town to help sing Nobody like you to help Mei and her family after Mei accidentally knocks her mom out. During the end, Mei now hangs out with her friends and her mom seems to like her friends.
Moments[]
- During the introduction at school, Miriam is seen eating chips from her locker when Mei calls her and gives her a bump.
- She then gives Mei a DVD of 4 Town songs on it and tells her to come join her, Priya and Abby for Karaoke, but Mei rejects them saying she has to do some cleaning at her temple.
- Miriam is confused on why Mei is acting weird and she defends her when another student ask what's with her and Miriam fires back by saying what's with your face.
- Miriam, along with Priya and Abby go to Mei's house and when they see her red panda form and she is sad, MIriam along with Priya and Abby sing a 4 Town song nobody like you to cheer her up. Once Mei is back to normal and Mei's hair is now red, Miriam almost touches it before backing up. Before being kicked out by Mei because she doesn't want her mom to see them, Mei tells her that her mom Ming doesn't like her, which makes Miriam sad.
- During Tyler's birthday party, Mei, Miriam, Priya, and Abby are on Tyler's rooftop eating cake celebrating their victory of seeing 4 Town. Miriam tells Mei not to get rid of the panda because she's changing and she's proud of her.
- After Mei decided to keep the panda and runs to the concert, Mei apologizes to her friends for betraying them. Miriam is still upset that Mei threw them under the bus, but that doesn't take to long to notice that Miriam had took care of her tomogatchi she dropped. She hands it back to Mei and they both make up by saying 4 town forever before hugging

Meiriam is one of the most popular romantic ships within the Turning Red fandom. Many of the shippers believe that Miriam has a crush on Mei or that there is possibly mutual attraction between the two. The people that don't ship Mei and Miriam romantically still appreciate the friendship they have. Their friendship with Priya and Abby is also widely appreciated.
