Melvika is the femslash ship between Mel Medarda and Sevika from the League of Legends fandom.

Canon

Mel and Sevika are two characters originally introduced in the Arcane series, who had both priorly not existed in the League of Legends game at the time the show first aired. In both seasons of Arcane, they never share the same screen, although it is implied that they may have at least heard of each other, as they were both in prominent positions of power. Most notably, Mel was a councilor of Piltover who later stepped down at the end of Season 2, while Sevika was the de facto second-in-command of Zaun before becoming their main leader, joining the Piltover council to represent them, also at the end of Season 2.

Besides both being women in power, the two also share similarities in values despite belonging to opposite sides of the Piltover-Zaun power struggle. Mel and Sevika both want what they think is best for Piltover and Zaun respectively, willing to blur moral lines to get there. Mel uses the council’s corruption to her advantage to manipulate Jayce into becoming the essential leader of Piltover, and Sevika rallies displeased Zaunites to betray Vander and help Silco become Zaun’s ruler.

They also share similar personalities. With the exception of Mel’s desire for peace and Sevika’s tendency for violence, both Mel and Sevika are unafraid to challenge those in authority for their beliefs. Mel openly and repeatedly pushes back against her mother Ambessa when her mother insists that violence is the only way for Piltover to gain peace, while Sevika is shown to challenge Vander, Silco, and Jinx (all of whom were leaders of Zaun at some point) when she believes they’re not acting in Zaun’s best interest.

Fanon

Despite having never interacted on-screen together, Melvika is a fairly popular ship among the sapphic community of the Arcane fandom, with an abundance of fanfiction, fanworks reaching thousands of likes, and even merch being made of the two. Fans like the two’s contrasting personalities and situations, seeing Mel and Sevika as potential foils for one another who could balance each other out if they ever met and worked together.

Personality-wise, besides their similarity of both being willing to challenge those with more power than they have, fans like how the two are essentially opposites of one another, with Mel heavily disliking violence and Sevika being very quick to throw hands at first. Mel is also shown to be very politically savvy and smooth with her words while Sevika is straightforward and impatient with political games. Additionally, fans like how both are in positions of authority on opposite sides of the Piltover-Zaun conflict and have vastly different methods of approaching said conflict (Mel through peace talks and Sevika through revolutionary means). By the end of Season 2, fans also like how both are placed into situations where they have to temper their personalities at the end of Season 2, with Mel leaving for Noxus (a place where being brutal and ruthless reigns supreme) and Sevika willingly participating in the council (where everyone has to peacefully talk to one another to sort out their politics).

Post-Season 1 (and before the release of Season 2), fans had hoped that the two would interact on-screen in the second season. When this did not happen, however, fans now hope for Sevika to appear in Noxus somehow if another show following Mel is ever made. Fans also hope for Sevika to be added to the League of Legends game, especially now that Mel has been added.

If the two ever meet, fans believe Mel and Sevika would at first be very critical of one another, but after realizing that each only wants what is best for their people, they would cover for each other’s flaws and bolster the other’s strengths.

Aesthetically, fans like how both are representative of different types of female beauty in both how they look and act. Mel represents feminine beauty, while Sevika represents masculine beauty - an additional contrast that the two have that fans like.
