Meta Knight is a character from the Kirby fandom.
Character[]
Meta Knight is one of the four central characters of the Kirby series. He is a masked, winged, honorable swordsman who is the leader of a group of warriors known as the Meta-Knights and owns a giant warship called the Battleship Halberd, which is designed after his likeness. A mysterious figure whose backstory is unclear, he wields the mythical sword Galaxia, and with such expertise in swordsmanship combined with his unparalleled aerial mobility, he truly is a force to be reckoned with. In fact, his one goal in the main game series is to simply become stronger.
While most would take him for a villain of sorts, it was only in Revenge of Meta Knight, one of the stories included in Kirby Super Star, where he serves the role of an unambiguous villain. Since then, he's done far more good than bad, and any hardships that may have come about regarding Kirby sinking the Halberd seem to have mended. He still challenges Kirby every now and then, but this is due to them having a friendly rivalry. Notably, Meta Knight always gives Kirby a sword before they do battle, always wanting a fair and equal match. It's usually Kirby who wins these matches, and upon being defeated, Meta Knight's mask breaks into two, revealing that his true face bares a strong resemblance to that of Kirby's. He instantly leaves the battlefield shortly thereafter. Just how he and Kirby are related, and to what extent, remains a mystery.
