MikuFlower is the femslash ship between Hatsune Miku and flower from the Vocaloid fandom.
Canon[]
Miku and Flower (also known as VFlower) are two characters from the vocal synthesizer software Vocaloid. Neither Miku nor Flower have canon personalities or relationships, meaning people are free to portray their relationship however they want. Therefore their relationship tends to vary depending on the song or fanon interpretation.
Songs[]
The song "Shirokuro Reversi" by Shitoo is a rare example of a duet that features versions of the characters themselves in the music video. Based on the board game Reversi (or Othello), Miku is a violent and impulsive girl representing black while Flower is more serious and withdrawn, representing white. They appear to be enemies or rivals, fighting and taunting each other in turn yet simultaneously enjoying each other's presence in the "game" they play.
The song "Newton Dance" by Chinozo and NayutalieN is about two people who feel inexplicably drawn to each other and decide to keep meeting and spending time together. The song "FrankenX" by NILFRUITS and harumakigohan is inspired by Mary Shelley's 1818 Gothic novel Frankenstein. It is about the toxic relationship between a scientist and their creation, and has lyrics from the perspective of both characters. While the relationship between the characters in the music video is ambiguous, the lyrics have heavy romantic connotations with many references to kissing and obsession with the other person. The songs "Cradle" and "Carnage" by Sumia are about a toxic romantic relationship. The two people depicted in the song seem to have an unhealthy attraction and struggle to discern the other's true feelings towards them.
Miku and Flower have performed together (with other vocaloids) in live concerts such as Vocaloid FES 2020. Miku also appears in Flower's 6th anniversary song "Sakasete☆Koi no Hana" by Wakaba (music video by KISARA). She attends Flower's concert and sings with her in a flashback. They appear to be good friends.
Fanon[]
MikuFlower is a moderately popular ship in the Vocaloid fandom. It is mostly shipped by fans of both characters who headcanon them to be sapphic. Some reasons for liking the ship are the dynamic between their designs and personalities (Flower is often depicted as being more introverted and masculine-presenting while Miku is depicted as more bubbly and feminine), and their voices complementing each other quite well in duets. It is rivalled by other ships such as FukaFlower, FlowLen and MikuRin.
While it is overshadowed by FukaFlower in the western Vocaloid community, MikuFlower is arguably the most popular ship for Flower in the Japanese side of the community and receives the most fan art on sites like Pixiv and Twitter.
