MikuLen is the het ship between Hatsune Miku and Kagamine Len from the Vocaloid and Project SEKAI fandoms.
Canon[]
Miku and Len are two characters made for their voicebank products, capable for the voice synthesizer softwares VOCALOID and Piapro Studio, both developed by Crypton Future Media (Rin and Len released only 4 months after Miku) and part of the Character Vocal Series. Neither Miku nor Len have any canon personalities or relationships, and people can portray their relationship however they want.
Songs[]
Despite not being a romantic song, Len and Miku's most popular duet is "Crazy Beat" by Satsuki ga TENKOMORI. The song "dynaMic Letter" by Maubox and CircusP is the most popular English duet between the two.
Their most popular romantic song altogether is "Nakimushi Kareshi (Crybaby Boyfriend)" of the Love & Hate series by HoneyWorks, a song where the in-story depictions of the two break up and part ways as Miku pursues her dream of being a singer, not wanting a long-distance relationship. Len sadly remembers his memories with Miku, but vows to stay strong.
The Himitsu Series by Hitoshizuku x Yama started as a romance between the in-story depictions of Miku and Rin, but the love between an angel and a human was forbidden, so Rin gave up her wing to a demon to become a human man in the form of Len, desperately wanting to be with Miku. Miku eventually fell in love with Len, even when she was to marry with another man. In the end, KAITO, Rin's old partner, was sent to punish Miku, likely for bringing Rin down to Earth, and shoots her. As a last resort, Len/Rin sacrificed their life giving their last wing in order to save Miku. In Miku's perspective, she had forgotten Rin shortly before she gave up her wing. She hadn't felt "right" being with Len due to the subconscious pain, not knowing he was Rin. Although the events of the light novel explore more what was seen in it, such as Miku eventually having a baby with Len/Rin.
In "ReAct" by Kurousa-P, ACUTE's sequel, Miku was sent to the hospital after attempting to kill KAITO and attempt suicide. Here, she meets Len, where he becomes entranced with her, wanting to help her through her hospital visit. Miku keeps noticing Rin gradually getting jealous about them getting close to one another and doesn't want to repeat the same history that she had with KAITO and Luka. In Rin's attempt to kill Miku for the same reasons Miku did KAITO, she tries to warn Rin about her behavior and how it led Miku to where she is now. Though Rin doesn't go through with it, it's generally unclear who ended up together in the end. However, in the light novel there is the plot of Miku falling in love with Len and vice versa, being a reciprocated love (It is established that Rin was only Len's childhood friend and did not have feelings for her).
In "Yumekui Shirokuro Baku (Dream-Eating Monochrome Baku)" by Nem, Len is a baku, a creature that devours the dreams and nightmares of humans, who a girl (portrayed by Miku) is infatuated with. Len takes away her nightmares to help her sleep, and seals that promise with a pinky promise, escalating into a kiss. Eventually, Len is implied to have killed Miku by stealing her soul, and in actuality, gives the nightmares to GUMI, his actual lover, who is in a coma that Len is desperately trying to get her out of.
In "Si Lo Puedes ReconoceR (If You Can Realize)" by Maubox, Len is a detective working for Miku, a maiden, with a secret life as a phantom thief that aims for her heart. Despite this, Miku is quite excited to be "captured" by Len, becoming a lifelong game between the two. During the bridge of the song, it's revealed that they were good friends as kids, but were seperated and only recently reunited, with Len determined to make Miku's love for detective stories a reality.
Other notable songs sung by Len and Miku are:
- 1,2 Fanclub (Remix) by Giga, original by mikitoP
- Ton Ton Mae! (Tap Tap Forward!) by Satsuki ga TENKOMORI
- Seishun Soukougun (Youth Syndrome) by rerulili
- Unbalanced Hero by Nakanishi
- Cyclone (ver2) by Kurousa-P
- SPL by Ayukawa Patty
- Wonderland Shika (Underground of Wonderland) by Kashii Moimi
Project Diva[]
In the Project DIVA intros, there aren't many interactions between the two, though it's shown that Len might have a small crush on Miku. In the Project DIVA 2nd intro, Len is seen staring at Miku as she walks by. In Project DIVA Extend's intro, Len acts very nervous when he's close to Miku, most notably when she calls Luka.
A song with Miku in Project DIVA Future Tone, "Kimi ni (To You)" by teaeye, is a song about crushes. In DIVA's MV, Len is depicted as the crush.
Project SEKAI[]
In the Street SEKAI, Len and Miku are street singers (with Len being the DJ). They help MEIKO run her café and Vivid BAD SQUAD to find their true feelings. Though Len greatly admires Miku and wants to show how cool he is, she often makes fun of Len for how childish he is trying to act mature.
In the Empty SEKAI, after a more sensitive Len arrives there, he sticks to Miku as he is scared by every other VIRTUAL SINGER there, often hiding behind her. In the card story "Shyly Greeting While Hiding", his Nightchord debut card, Len had expected Miku to find him in the Empty SEKAI, but she was late. Because he was distressed from the lack of people, Miku comforts Len by holding his hand, which was one of the first things Len had found warm about the SEKAI.

Fanon[]
Being that Miku is the most popular VOCALOID and overall vocal synth character, and Len as the most popular masculine one, MikuLen is a moderately popular ship in the fandom. Although the ship originally wasn't as popular as RinLen or KaiMiku, with the passage of time, the interest in the ship increased and started to become one of the most popular ships in the community. They are often paired along with KaiMei, and it is rivaled against KaiMiku, MikuRin, Negitoro, RinLen, KaiLen and GumiLen. MikuLen shippers tend to do a lot of covers, animations and fanfics about them, and the YouTube user Fina-chan Daisuki is well known for their many high quality animations and covers of the ship which has garnered a large amount of views.
On AO3, it is the second most written ship for Len and the third most written for Miku, having more than 200 fanfictions there, with around 2700 works on pixiv.
In 2021, an English MikuLen anthology fanbook "dynaMic Letter", alongside the song of the same name, were released on October 9th, 2021, with work ranging from comics to clip badges by 23 different artists.
