MikuRin is the femslash ship between Hatsune Miku and Kagamine Rin from the Vocaloid and Project SEKAI fandoms.
Canon[]

Miku and Rin holding hands with love hearts around them drawn on a blackboard
Miku and Rin are two characters made for their voicebank products, capable for the voice synthesizer softwares VOCALOID and Piapro Studio, both developed by Crypton Future Media (Rin and Len released only 4 months after Miku) and part of the Character Vocal Series. Neither Miku nor Rin have any canon personalities or relationships, and people can portray their relationship however they want.
Songs[]
The song Doki Doki Yuri Gakuen (Heart-throbbing Yuri Academy) by metalheart is one of the oldest MikuRin songs that still maintain relative popularity, showcasing a schoolgirl romance between the two as they start to question their sexualities when realizing their crushes.
In the Himitsu Series by Hitoshizuku x Yama, in-story depictions of Miku and Rin are portrayed with a forbidden romance, as love between an angel and a human is forbidden, topped with having Miku to be wed to a human man. Determined to be with Miku no matter what, Rin gives up one of her wings to a demon and falls down to Earth, and meets her again as a human man in the form of Len. Miku eventually falls in love with Len. However, the angel KAITO, Rin's old partner, was sent to punish Miku for bringing Rin down to Earth, shooting her. In another act of desperation, Rin/Len sacrifices their last wing to save Miku, killing them and leaving Miku in despair from losing her lover. Miku had forgotten about Rin when she gave up her wing, and had felt a subconscious pain being with Len despite loving him, not knowing that he's actually Rin.
Knife by rerulili is a story in which Miku and Rin team up in search of a man that Rin loved after she had lost her memories. The two end up falling in love, though the relationship is cut short as a corrupt Len ends up killing Miku in battle. Rin seeks to avenge Miku by fighting Len with her and Miku's katanas at once, and kills Len, finally remembering that he was her lover.
Various songs by Deadball-P depict them in a romantic relationship within various settings, such as 1LDK.
Other notable songs sung by Miku and Rin are:
- Cold Back by Renfuru-P
- Gimme x Gimme by Hachiouji-P and Giga
- Majo no Waltz (The Waltz of the Witch) by Yakko
- Joshuseki Road Movie (Passenger Seat Road Movie) by OSTER project
- Colorful x Melody by Team MOER

Project DIVA[]
In the Project DIVA 2nd intro, Miku finds Rin playing the guitar after a while of searching for the source of a guitar chord, mistakenly thinking she played a chord that Len did, and gets happy upon encountering Rin, with heart graphics surrounding her. While they are vigorously training with Luka, the two almost kiss until Luka interrupts them. In the extended version of the intro, there's a scene with a sole illustration of Miku on a blackboard, then cutting to Rin playing the guitar where a Rin is visible on the blackboard, holding hands with Miku, which has a heart between them.
In the Project DIVA Extend intro, Miku and Rin fall asleep with their heads on each other's shoulders and holding hands while on the train.
The in-game MV for the Project DIVA F2nd theme, DECORATOR by kz, has Rin grabbing Miku's hand and drags her across the stage as they both smile.
Summer Idol by OSTER project had a slightly different ending in DIVA's MV compared to the original. When they sing "From now on, how about we just become a couple?", the blushing is clearer, and Rin's disappointment when Miku says "…There’s no way that’s happening, right" is visible, with the MV becoming more prevalent among shippers as a result.
Narisumashi Ganger (Doubleganger) by KulfiQ showcases the two as misunderstood classmates that eventually bond over music, which had amplified romantic potential as the two shared closer moments in DIVA's MV.
Sakasama Rainbow (Reverse Rainbow) by sunzriver had already been widely regarded to be a song about a romance between them, but it was fueled by the fact that Miku gave Rin a kiss in Project mirai's MV.
Project SEKAI[]
In the Stage SEKAI, Miku and Rin are idols that frequently perform together, trying to help MORE MORE JUMP! find their true feelings.
The trained version of Miku's first 4 star card, "The Big Debut", shows Miku and Rin forming a heart as they're faces are right next to each other, with slight blushes appearing on both of them.
Quotes[]
- “With an angel's smile, my heart that brushed it melts
my sweetheart, I've fallen in love with you
Meringue flowers, when you stuff your cheeks with them
my sweetheart, playing the song of love” - — Cold Back by Renfuru-P
- “Is it okay to say how much I like you?
Right now I feel...
Red? Blue? White? It's hard to tell
Is it okay to like you more
Than anyone else in the world?” - — Colorful x Melody by Team MOER
- “Your smile (seeing it)
With just that (always)
My cheeks would (be stained)
Into red (Why is that)
Boys wouldn’t understand this, right?
This feeling.” - — Doki Doki Yuri Gakuen (Heart-throbbing Yuri Academy) by metalheart
- “Come on, hurry, take me along.
Close enough that our eyelashes could almost touch,
I’ll steal even your thoughts and figure you out.
It seems like I’ve said more than I needed to.
Please shut these sighing lips with a kiss.” - — Gimme x Gimme by Hachiouji-P and Giga
- “At the moment their eyes met,
The pathetic angel fell for her
With forbidden feelings growing inside her,
She opened Pandora's box” - — Himitsu ~Kuro no Chikai~ (Alluring Secret ~Black Vow~) by Hitoshizuku
- “It'd be dangerous to grab your hand,
So I gazed at you from the side
That takes everything I have right now,
But I wonder if that can change someday?
"This distance is so frustrating,"
You grieve while stuck in traffic,
But that's my line...” - — Joshuseki Road Movie (Passenger Seat Road Movie) by OSTER project
- “If this is love that will vanish someday, just kiss me for now.”
- — Knife by rerulili
- “Though I knew it to be a sin,
If this is my fate,
I’m all right with that. Let’s dance
A waltz for just us two.” - — Majo no Waltz (The Waltz of the Witch) by Dogitsune
- “What I want is
Not an umbrella, what, you still don’t know?” - — Sakasama Rainbow (Reverse Rainbow) by sunzriver
- “I’m sorry for being your rival!
Even I feel the same, so
From now on, how about we just become a couple?” - — Summer Idol by OSTER project
Fanon[]
MikuRin is one of the very first femslash ships in the fandom, as both characters are among the earliest and most famous feminine characters. Upon Rin's release, songs about her in a relationship with Miku, such as Doki Doki Yuri Gakuen, were posted not long after, showing the interest and potential in their characters being together romantically. MikuRin shippers frequently headcanon them both as lesbians, but other headcanons such as bi or pan are not uncommon. It is rivaled by KaiMiku, Negitoro, Gumiku, MikuLen, RinLen, and KaiRin.
On AO3, it is the second most written ship for Rin and the most written ship for Miku. It has currently over 250 fics and about 900 works on pixiv.
