Milanda is the het ship between Milo Murphy and Amanda Lopez from the Milo Murphy's Law fandom.
Canon[]
Despite the show taking place in their first year at Jefferson G. County Middle School, it is revealed that Milo and Amanda have been classmates since first grade, as seen in the Season 2 episode "First Impressions" (the episode which reveals how Milo and Melissa became best friends), which shows Amanda and several of Milo's other classmates boarding the same bus to John P. Trystate Elementary School.
While it is unknown when exactly Milo got a crush on Amanda, this crush on her was revealed in the show proper in the Season 1 episode "Smooth Opera-tor", in which Milo, Zack and Melissa unexpectedly encounter Amanda at the opera house, catching Milo in surprise. When Zack and Melissa notice, Milo tries denying his crush on her, it is obvious that he has feelings for her by the way he's acting around her. Despite Milo's crush, Amanda is somewhat apprehensive around Milo, as revealed earlier in the episode "Party of Peril" (when Melissa and Zack organize a surprise birthday party for Milo, and Amanda was invited to organize the party); it is revealed that Amanda is a perfectionist and fears when things go wrong and not as planned, which clashes with Milo and his inherited Murphy's Law (by which anything that can go wrong, will at any time). Regardless, Milo tries to assure that the opera show must go on regardless of what happens. Later, when Milo accidentally ends up backstage, he decides that he should stay there to ensure the opera performance goes well for Amanda's sake. Despite everything still going wrong, Milo saves the opera by replacing one of the actors (who has quit due to all the chaos) and improvising a satisfying ending in the final act. This earns the show a standing ovation that was started by Amanda. Since the opera performance finished earlier than she had planned, Amanda decides to invite Milo, Melissa and Zack for pizza.
In "School Dance", Milo, Melissa and Zack make their way to the middle school dance, organized entirely by Amanda herself. Since the dance, themed after Niagara Falls, looks great, and is being attended well, Milo suggests to Amanda that she can have fun now and tries asking her to dance with him, but Amanda insists she has to supervise the dance to ensure nothing goes wrong, especially with Murphy's Law on the rise with Milo's presence (and so suggests to Milo to stay away from all the decorations). Things keep breaking, with Amanda getting gradually more nervous, until a blackout makes Amanda lose all hope. When Milo finds her lying on the ground in defeat, he decides to look for the fuse box to turn the electricity back on, in spite of Amanda's insistence that he'll make everything worse. Milo finds the fuse box and turns it back on, but not before fixing and improving some of the fallen decorations, and losing his shoe in the process. As Amanda notices the electricity returning, she is impressed at how much better the dance looks now, wanting to thank her hero for fixing it without realizing it was Milo all along, with only the missing shoe with her. She eventually does discover Milo fixed the dance when she notices he's missing a shoe as he's performing songs with Zack, Melissa and Mort (after the band she hired went missing during the blackout). She returns the shoe to Milo, properly thanks him and even invites him to dance with her (which Milo has to decline due to still substituting for the missing band).
In "Cake 'Splosion!", Amanda is excited that her favorite TV show, the competitive backing show Cake 'Splosion, and its host, Basil Bravo, is at middle school looking for two candidates to participate as a team in the next episode, and she is desperate to join. When Milo is chosen as the first contestant, he suggests Basil to pick Amanda as his partner due to her love for Cake 'Splosion. After being impressed by her baking skill, Basil allows Amanda as the second contestant, which has Amanda thrilled until she realizes she has to team up with Milo, which makes her nervous that Murphy's Law is going to ruin everything, in spite of Milo's assurance that he'll be more prepared for Murphy's Law than usual. At the big day, as they're baking a cake for the episode against three more opposing contestant teams, Amanda assigns Milo to do the prepping while she bakes the actual cake, to ensure that as little goes wrong as possible. During the initial three rounds, Milo does his best to keep the cake safe, gradually impressing Amanda enough to let him stay at the final round when he's about to leave. The two are in perfect sync as they attempt to deliver the cake to the jury while going through an obstacle course, until they accidentally drop the cake on Basil Bravo when stumbling over Milo's dog, Diogee. Despite this mishap, Basil approves of the cake and declares Milo and Amanda the winning team, resulting in Amanda embracing Milo in a tackle-hug and Milo blushing happily in response.
In "Managing Murphy's Law", Amanda assigns herself as the manager of Milo, Melissa and Zack's band, and assigns the band on a benefit concert for alpacas. She has the band rehearse and give a variety of characters tasks to get the band prepared and the concert going, despite Murphy's Law mucking up nearly every step. When Milo wonders it's better to give up in light of that, Amanda refuses and tells him that she learned from him to never quit no matter what, and "Milo up" in response to Murphy's Law, revealing she has taken her past positive experiences with Milo with heart. After the concert ends without a hitch, Milo compliments Amanda regarding how well she used her phone to manage everything, to which Amanda confesses it was more difficult than she imagined, but that Milo was worth it and that they're "just getting started" before kissing Milo on the cheek. As Milo realizes what Amanda just did, he smiles and blushes.
In the beginning of "Spy Little Sister!", after Milo's robot lands in Joni's apple sauce in the cafetaria and Milo gives her a napkin, Amanda is shown growling angrily at Joni, showing that she does not like it when someone else shows interest in Milo. As Milo leaves, Amanda approaches Joni, shaking her while repeating "He's mine".
In "Ride Along Little Doggie", Milo attends the school's Winter Break Awards with Amanda, Zack and Melissa, as he's been nominated for one of the awards, but does not know which one; Amanda is happy for Milo that he's nominated at all. When it's time to go inside, Milo accidentally locks himself outside and attempts to enter the school auditorium through an alternate method, while Amanda has taken a seat next to Milo's family inside. When it turns out that Milo has won the award he's nominated for, Amanda cheers for Milo excitedly; Milo almost arrives in time to receive it, until he accidentally falls in the basement, as he attempts the rest of the evening to escape and receive his award, having Amanda worried. Milo fails to escape the basement in time as the award ceremony is over, resulting in Amanda and the Murphys to look for him. Amanda finds Milo in the basement and takes him back to the stage with a nearby elevator. She reveals she picked up Milo's award to give to him, which turns out to be for "Greatest Perseverance", and also kisses him on the cheek again after doing so.
At the cast party for Zack in "Cast Party", several of the attendants try to tell how they got their injuries simultaneously. When Milo hushes them and suggests to tell their stories one at a time, he allows Amanda to tell her story first, calling it great, flattering Amanda.
Fanon[]
Prior to the airing of "Smooth Opera-tor", no signs of romance was shown in Milo Murphy's Law before, and most fans shipped Milissa or Zalo instead: fans paired Milo with Melissa due to them being best friends of opposite genders and two of the main characters (a popular thing for shippers to do with cartoons on television), and others paired him with Zack with the rise of LGBT ships in children shows in the 2010s; some hadn't paired Milo with anyone at all yet. No one had thought to pair Milo up with Amanda before, and after "Smooth Opra-tor" aired, the reaction to Milo's crush on Amanda was rather mixed. Some were excited with this revelation, liking the "opposites attract" aspect in Milanda and seeing the potential of Amanda eventually reciprocating Milo's crush; others preferred Milissa or Zalo, either due to their own biases towards those ships, or because they don't see any potential between Milo and Amanda, thinking that Amanda's perfectionism clashes too much with Milo's Murphy's Law and believing it will only hurt in the long run.
Despite the initial reaction though, the fandom of Milanda has been rising gradually, and the ship has been received much more positively by the time "School Dance" aired, helped by the fact that one of the storyboard artists for the show, Ashley Michelle Simpson (who prior was a huge fan of Phineas and Ferb and had a hand with the teenager designs for "Act Your Age"), has also been making fan art for Milanda, as well as Zalissa. Eventually, Milanda became one of the most popular canon ships in the Milo Murphy's Law fandom, and became the second most popular ship in the Milo Murphy's Law fandom in general, only falling behind Cavenkota.
