MilesGanke is the slash ship between Miles Morales and Ganke Lee from the Marvel and Spider-Verse fandoms.

Canon[]

Ganke is Miles’s best friend. Ganke is such an important person in Miles' life, that he is the first person to whom he reveals his powers. Instead of freaking out, Ganke is thrilled. Ganke was also the one to encourage Miles to become the new Spider-Man of Earth-1610, after Peter Parker was killed. Ganke was so important to Miles from a narrative standpoint that he was one of the few survivors during the Secret Wars event. When reality was restored, Ganke ended up in Earth-616 instead of being erased from continuity. This mattered because Ganke did not serve merely as emotional support. Unlike the Earth-616 Peter Parker, Miles had a friend on whom he could rely on from day one. Ganke not only correctly deduced the source of Miles’s spider powers, he suggested Miles use his powers to fight crime and later urged him to rescue two girls trapped in a burning building.

Moreover, Ganke would cover for Miles whenever his best friend needed to change into his superhero identity. He’d help Miles improve his fighting style, acting as a confidant and assisting Spider-Man in dealing with threats. In addition, he always encouraged Miles and never made him feel ashamed about his powers. If anything, Ganke seems to have an instinct towards doing the right thing, a step that Miles sometimes struggles with in certain situations.

Ganke plays a central role in the “Empire of the Spider” comic book event. In Miles’s search for his missing Uncle Aaron, he and his clone, Shift, stumble into an alternate reality in which Ganke is the leader of the resistance against Selim, Miles’ evil clone. In this world, Miles was killed during his version of the Clone Saga and Selim has taken over all but the last Brooklyn neighborhood. Ganke is revealed as The General. He is certainly smart and assisted Spider-Man for many years. This experience has undoubtedly helped train him for this new role. In another twist, he also appears to act as a mentor to Miles’ sister, Capitáin Billie Morales. Even though this version of Ganke is an adult, he immediately recognizes Miles when Spider-Man and Shift are brought to him. Almost immediately, they slip into their old rhythms of friendship, although Ganke is puzzled when Miles declares how proud he is of his friend.

In his own way, Ganke acts as a bridge to Miles’s life before and after he was bitten by the spider. He keeps Miles connected to his life outside the costume, something that Peter was never great at doing. What’s more, Ganke’s absence looms larger when it turns out the Earth-616 Miles Morales' best friend was Wilson Fisk, the Kingpin, and Miles subsequently turned to a life of crime. In Miles Morales: Spider-Man #38, it is implied that Ganke took up arms to avenge his best friend.

Fanon[]

MilesGanke is a rare ship within the overall Marvel fandom. However, it's one of the most popular Spiderman ships.[1] For Ganke, for example, it's his most popular ship overall. On AO3, the gen tag has more works written for the ship than the romantic tag has.

After Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse came out and Miles from Earth-42 made an appearance, fans began shipping him with Ganke. To differentiate this ship from variant ships from other universes, fans used the name "Clawcode" due to Miles' identity as the Prowler.
