Mirabel x Casita is the friendship between Mirabel Madrigal and Casa "Casita" Madrigal from the Encanto fandom.

Canon

Being apart of a magical family has Mirabel being born and raised in their enchanted house, that has a personality of its own. Making it a member of the Madrigal family, from how it has watched them grow under its roof and helping them out in whatever way it can. Like making sure a little Mirabel wasn't late for her gift ceremony and that she has her shoes on for it. Moments before it started Alma tells Mirabel how Casita was created from the miracle that saved them. Even though the door to what would have been Mirabel's room disappeared and was forced to remain in the nursery, Mirabel held no ill will towards Casita. Who has become her special friend over the years and are shown to be in sink with one another when getting ready for the day. Their friendship allowed Mirabel to understand Casita when it uses the tiles and wood parts of the house to communicate. As she gets Casita to showcase this to the children who asked her who is who in her family.

As Mirabel does her part to help get Casita ready to Antonio's gift ceremony, Casita sorted itself out with the decorations she brought in, while she was talking to her parents. That's why she said that their house won't decorate itself, until she sees that it has and apologies for her words. Along with telling Castia that they look amazing. After Mirabel left the party from feeling left out, she heard one of Casita's roof tiles fall and goes to expect it, before cutting her hand on it. Mirabel notices that something was wrong with her family's house from the rumbling sounds on the ground and started to show concern for Casita, before she sees large cracks appear all over the court hard. She tries to tell everyone that the house was in danger and how the candle that contains the miracle nearly went out, but by the time they went to the court yard the cracks were gone. Refusing to believe that what she saw was in her head and suspects that both Casita and the miracle are still in danger, Mirabel makes it her mission to save it. She asks Casita if it knows how she can save a miracle, but it was just as clueless as her. Despite knowing what Mirabel is doing, the enchanted house still obeys Alma's orders of moving Mirabel away from Luisa during breakfast.

During her mission to discover what it is happening to it, Mirabel goes into Bruno's tower to find his final vision. She asks Casita to turn off the falling sand, but unlike the nursery Casita is unable to control the insides of the magical rooms. Leaving Mirabel to go into the tower without Casita's aid. Casita does, however, try to help Mirabel hide the vision from her father, but wasn't able to hide it from the others. With the disfunchion between members of the Madrigals causing more cracks to appear. Along with Casita being unable to help Mirabel when she found herself in trouble within the insides of its walls, as Mirabel tried to ask it to save her. At first Mirabel was shocked that she might be the reason why Casita and the miracle is in danger, until Bruno got her to see that her future wasn't decided and that there might be more to it. Giving Mirabel hope, as well as pressure when Bruno tells her that the fate of their home and the miracle will depend on her.

There was a moment when Mirabel believed that she had succeeded in saving the miracle and Casita when her hugging Isabela leads to the cracks disappearing. Until her argument with Alma places Casita in danger again. With the cracks returning and causing the house to collapse in on itself. Despite the danger and knowing that everyone needs to get everyone out of the building, Casita still helps Mirabel in her attempt to save the candle. Along with providing her protection from the falling brubble, by surrounding her with its wooden chairs, doors and other wooden items. Mirabel sees one of its wooden cuberd doors move, like it was giving her one last wave, before the other doors and foreigners fell to the ground. Showcasing that the magic that gave Casita life was gone. Mirabel was devastated by this and the fact that she failed to save the miracle. Luckily after the casa was rebuild and Mirabel was given the honour to place a doorknob on the entrance door, the miracle returned as well as making Casita it's new vessel. Mirabel smiles as she waves back at her returned friend, who then brings everyone back inside and then brings them closer together for the photo.

Fanon

Fans of Encanto are fascinated with Mirabel's friendship with her family's living house. It reminds some people of the bond that Moana has formed with the ocean. It has also been hinted that Mirabel might not have any human friends of her own, from being marked as the second black sheep of her home town's respected family. Mirabel is believed to be Casita's favourite Madrigal, since Mirabel appearing to be gift-less has spared her from the pressure Alma had placed upon the others. There have also been a few people who believe that Mirabel's possible hidden gift might be her strong connection with Casita, since she was the one who brought life back to her rebuild home.

With Casita being classed as a character rather than just a building, it has allowed the enchanted house to have a tag of their own on AO3. That is why the fanfic website has 87 gen fics between Mirabel and Casita. There have also been 5 romantic fanfics in the two. Even though Casita is a character, some prefer to class the friendship as a cargo ship. Similar discussions have also been said about Moana & the Ocean.
