MiruYumi is the femslash ship between Fuyumi Todoroki and Rumi Usagiyama from the My Hero Academia fandom.
Canon[]
Rumi and Fuyumi have not shared any interactions in canon. However, they do have a number of shared relationships that might lead to them one day meeting, or perhaps already having met off-screen. Rumi is the current Number 5 Hero, and Fuyumi's father, Enji Todoroki, is the current Number 1 Hero. Both heroes were assigned to the Jaku Hospital Raid during the Paranormal Liberation War, and Enji even went so far as to help save Rumi's life. Rumi has also fought Fuyumi's brother, Toya Todoroki, on at least one occasion.
Fuyumi and Rumi are similar in age, some of the only characters that are in their early-to-mid twenties in the series. They seem to have nearly polar opposite personalities. Fuyumi is more mild-mannered, working as an elementary school teacher. Rumi is headstrong and dedicated, having reached the position of Number 5 hero before the age of 30. Where Fuyumi is more soft-spoke, Rumi is loud and brash. Rumi was known to cause trouble in middle school, whereas Fuyumi was likely a model student. Both women have naturally white hair, although Fuyumi has some red highlights from her father's genetics.
Fanon[]
MiruYumi is an incredibly popular ship in the fandom, despite the two characters never having interacted. It is the most popular ship for both Fuyumi and Rumi, as well as being one of the top femslash ships overall. MiruYumi is oftentimes paired with Hot Wings in fanfic and fanart. Fans enjoy the idea of Rumi and Keigo being close friends, and them each dating one of the Todoroki siblings. Sometimes MiruYumi are an established relationship, and they work to try and set up their best friend and their brother with each other.
Fans enjoy this ship mostly for the potential between the two characters. Their differing personalities allow for an "Opposites Attract" sort of relationship to form between them. Fans also enjoy the idea of seeing a Pro-Hero in a relationship with a civilian, and playing off of the angst that could come out of that relationship. The majority of ships in the My Hero Academia fandom revolve around hero/hero or hero/villain dynamics, so the hero/civilian dynamic is one thing that makes MiruYumi stand out.
Fuyumi and Rumi are also close in age, which is another reason why they are often shipped with one another. The other character closest in age to them, Keigo Takami, makes up their two biggest rival ships: Huwumi and MiruHawks. MiruYumi currently has over 600 works on AO3.
Many hold out hope that Rumi's canon relationships to both Enji and Keigo will lead to Rumi and Fuyumi officially interacting in the manga at some point in the future.
