SPOILER WARNING!
This article contains spoilers from Great God Grove's ending

Mittyking is the femslash ship between Miss Mitternacht and King from the Great God Grove fandom.

Canon[]

Miss Mitternacht is the creator and caretaker of the world, even older than the ancient god of Memory. She had spent many years alone, but King was the only one to visit her for a very long time. According to Sirena, King is incredibly special to her, as she would always stop by to chat when she was delivering mail as the Godpoke. King visited every day, and over this time they wound up falling in love and becoming an "item" of sorts. When the letter from "King" (Actually Inspekta pretending to be her) arrives, calling her an "ugly old bag of bones" and breaking up with her, she becomes so upset her tears threaten to flood the entire grove. Mitternacht describes King as eloquent and a blessed communicator. Seeing the player with King's megapon, she laments on their "breakup" and sobs harder, both upset about her words and wanting her back. The only thing that calms her is hearing King's words, quoted by Razzma and shot to her by the Player.

Throughout the game, there are paintings and statues of the two together, showing their relationship and the love between them. They're always portrayed together, shown to have been extremely close before the events of the game. While the details are up to interpretation, the clipped middle nail on some of the King statues says enough.

Sometime between the events at the Cove and the end of the game, Mitternacht realizes that the real King would never speak like that to her, and that someone has been doing a bad impression of her. When they finally see each other again on top of the spire, Mitternacht apologizes and the two joke together a bit, with no hard feelings on King's part. During Kings Ascension, when King agrees to become the Eloquent God, Mitternacht calls her into her arms and asks her to join them in the panthon. It's unknown what happens after King becomes a god, but Yugo, the game's co-creator and artist, says the two are "very busy[1]".

Fanon[]

With its status as a canon ship, It's a very popular one, with most of fanart and fanwork surrounding it being very fluff-filled. Due to the ambiguous nature of both King and Mitternachts backstory, it allows for a lot of speculation on what their relationship was like before and after the game, and what moment caused the two to fall in love.
