- But if belief in God is human, if all I can do as a human is to believe... My God. My universe.
- —Mizi about Sua, “MY CLEMATIS”
MiziSua is the femslash ship between Mizi and Sua from the Alien Stage fandom.
Canon[]
Pre-ALNST[]
Mizi first met Sua whilst being dropped at Anakt Garden on a close container.[1] Mizi seems mesmerized by Sua's appearance, reminding her of something beautiful and later calling her a snow doll[2]. Later after being separated Mizi encounters again Sua and attend Anakt Garden together, Mizi being too shy to approach her first.[3]
Once she heard Sua singing "My Clematis", she gained enough courage to approach her and continue the lyrics along her, becoming attached to each other later. Sua was well aware of the harsh reality from the beginning, so she wanted to protect Mizi's bright and innocent personality, both for Mizi's sake and her own because Mizi was her coping mechanism.[4] Although Mizi was not as ignorant as she seemed, she played into this innocent image for her survival and Sua’s happiness, and chose to believe in Sua, making Mizi and Sua's relationship a their own paradise where they focused on their love for each other instead of their hardships. However, when ALIEN STAGE drew closer, reality became harder to ignore, which seemed to make them more prone to fights. Mizi mentions getting into a fight with Sua, and another fight is shown later where Sua takes out her frustrations, belittling Mizi's suffering in the process.[5]
Although Sua was terrified of death thanks to her older sister, she decided to purposely lose in ALNST so that Mizi could live,[6] while making Mizi's dream of performing together on stage come true. Mizi did not fully understand what death was, since the Segyein presented death on stage as a blessing,[7] but she wanted to tie with Sua so they could both win and perform together as long as possible.[3]
ALIEN STAGE[]
Mizi and Sua are in singing camp and stand next to each other. Later on, Mizi and Sua stare at each other while other members of their singing camp are taken away and presumably executed for their lack of performance. In another scene, Round One is teased, Mizi and Sua are seen together holding microphones and singing. Not much else is shared in the Prologue about the two girls after that.
R O U N D 1[]
Sua noticing Mizi singing next to her
At the beginning of the video, Sua is seen singing MY CLEMATIS, with Mizi watching her. Mizi sings without realizing, as described from before. The video cuts from the two girls being in a field to the two being on a stage, competing against each other. The video then cuts again to their childhood memories. They chase each other, catch fish, and watch the sunset. At 1:10, Mizi runs over to Sua to show her that she had passed a test, Sua shows Mizi that she also had passed the same test; the two fall on each other and hug.
While Mizi and Sua are still singing, a screen displays two pictures of them, with a versus sign in between. Mizi starts to narrate about human life after Earth's destruction. At the end of the narration, she refers to Sua as "her God" and "her universe". Various clips of Mizi and Sua as children are shown, along with pictures of what Earth looked like during its final days. In one of the clips, Mizi and Sua are seen being assessed over their voices. Mizi, amazed by Sua’s voice, gazes at her in awe. It can be seen that Mizi is visibly admiring her. Sua notices Mizi staring at her, and amusingly sticks out her tongue.
Mizi witnessing Sua's death
The video then cuts to the results of the round being tallied. Mizi ends up winning the round 87 to 86. The two smile at each other in their last moments together, just before Sua is executed by getting shot. In shock, Mizi kneels down in front of Sua's lifeless body, mourning her loss and singing the rest of the song alone. The lyrics at the start of the song, sung by both Mizi and Sua, are about finding hope that is bloomed in the abyss, possibly implying that they were each other's hope, and the next lyric says that they should be by each other's side always. The last few lyrics, only sung by Mizi after Sua dies, are the complete opposite, saying that her hope was withered in the abyss, showing that her hope, Sua, is now dead and no longer there anymore. The final lyric is of Mizi begging Sua to stay by her side, a big difference of when the beginning goes "always be by my side", as "항상" means always, everyday, and "제발" means please in a pleading sense.
Throughout the video, Mizi and Sua show no signs of wanting to win the crowd over. They would rather enjoy the time they spend together, knowing one of them had only a few minutes left. It is also confirmed that they were supposed to sing the song in parts, but they sang every part together so they may hopefully have equal points.
R O U N D 2[]
Mizi is still mourning the death of Sua throughout the round. Several flashbacks can be seen between the both of them. This includes Sua gifting Mizi a red flower crown, and both of them passing their tests. Till is shown to try to attract her attention, but Mizi is in too much shock and despair for Sua to notice him.
R O U N D 5[]
Mizi hallucinating Sua
In Round Five, Mizi competes against Luka. There are various scenes of Mizi hallucinating Sua. At 1:07, while Luka is rising on a platform, Mizi perceives Luka as Sua. Mizi stands in shock as she stares as the hallucination. Luka grabs Mizi's face and pulls her in, nearly kissing her. Just before she realizes it wasn't Sua, Luka pulls away. In another scene, Mizi flashbacks to childhood memories with Sua. The younger Sua in the hallucination walks happily across the stage, only to collapse and show the moment of her death. Disoriented and overwhelmed, Mizi snaps and attacks Luka. She is held back by the guards, but she throws a fit, blinded by rage. A smokescreen is put up and Mizi is pulled away, saved from being publicly shot.
MIZISUA[]
Mizi and Sua waving goodbye to each other
The beginning of the video depicts Mizi and Sua as children, separated by two glass cases. Mizi has tons of equipment in her case, and is sent off by her owners with love. On the other hand, Sua's owners left nothing in her case, suggesting the differences in how they've been raised. Mizi is crying as she gets sent away, until she notices Sua in her case, and becomes completely fascinated with her. Both glass cases become closer to each other, and one of Mizi's belongings seems to travel through Sua's case. This may represent the influence Mizi had on Sua's life. Suddenly, both glass cases start backing away from each other. The girls are completely bewildered, and eventually, their glass cases are too far apart. Upon the realization they won't be reuniting, Sua and a teary Mizi wave goodbye to each other. The video then cuts to a clip of Mizi crying, and laying on what appears to be a mattress with pillows.
While the execution of the latter half of the video is dreamlike, it's implied that the video is intended to be a flashback to when Mizi and Sua's alien "families" sent them to Anakt Garden.
WIEGE[]
Mizi and Sua picking their outfits
There are scenes where it shows Mizi and Sua before they competed in Alien Stage where they were picking their outfits. Sua was wearing Mizi's outfit while Mizi was holding Sua's. Mizi places the dress on Sua to see how it would look on her and Sua blushes due to the lack of clothing Mizi is wearing. We see another scene back in Anakt Garden where Sua and Mizi were singing together with the others.
There was another scene with Mizi and Till's bleeding body, while holding his head, she cries and it shows a scene of Sua smiling without her eyes seen.
As she held Till's body, Mizi, experiencing survivor's guilt, hallucinates Sua telling Mizi that she was cunning for putting on an innocent mask to survive, which she says is the reason Sua and her friends are all dead. The hallucination of Sua morphs into a hallucination of Mizi in her ROUND 1 outfit congratulating her.[5]
KARMA[]
Karma shows that before ROUND 1, Mizi and Sua had an argument backstage. Sua covers Mizi's mouth with a smile, and Mizi tears up.
In the next scene Mizi and Sua are metaphorically shown with halves of a heart in each of their mouth, both nude while having a wedding veil over their heads, kissing, making the heart complete and overall depicting the mutual dependency and love the two hold for one another.
Mizi admits to Hyuna that she knew Sua was practicing her death every night, and pretended not to. A flashback shows Sua watching a death on ALIEN STAGE, and making herself get used to the pain while also giving some My Clematis lines she’d have to sing to Mizi, which would result in a unequal line distribution and thus ensure Mizi’s win. She says she knows her love was different than Hyuna's, but it was still love, so who could blame her? During this monologue, flashbacks of Mizi’s and Sua’s time together are constantly shown. In the next one, Mizi is shown attempting to kill herself by jumping off a cliff, and Sua stopping her by holding her hand with tears running down her face. Mizi says that if Hyuna had seen the look on Sua's face, she wouldn't be able to judge her either. This shows Mizi did not let Sua die out of selfishness or fear of death, but realizing that to Sua, losing Mizi is a fate worse than death. Sua likely would, at best, have lived a miserable existence, or at worst, not been able to fight in the next round and lost, dying anyway. Mizi realized this, so she chose to be the one to suffer instead, to lose her god so Sua wouldn’t have to lose her.
It cuts to another flashback of the two bathing together with wires attached to them. Sua touches Mizi’s leg and starts wrapping Mizi's hands around her throat with a smile as she starts crying, while scenes of the two in ROUND 1 are presented during the act.
In the next metaphorical scene, as the rockets are launching, representations of the cast as children are falling from the sky. Mizi and Sua, depicted as kids, circle each other, holding hands and after the next transition where they’re depicted as adults now, in their ROUND 1 outfits, share a kiss.
On the destroyed stage, Sua's ghost comforts Mizi as she is holding Till's body.
Towards the end of the video, in the same flashback of Sua practicing her death, Mizi goes into the room and comforts her with a hug. In the aftermath, Isaac says Mizi is a woman now called a witch, who was always searching for love.

Art Book[]
The official art book confirms how each set of characters feels about each other, as well as the romantic feelings Mizi and Sua have for each other.
Mizi and Sua feel 100% intimacy toward each other and are the only characters in this cast who reciprocate this with each other.
Mizi describes Sua as her soulmate, whom she loves so much. She also says she thinks she and Sua are one and the same, and calls Sua her god and universe with a heart. In Sua's description of Mizi, she calls Mizi her beloved who is too good for her. She also wonders if her feelings are making Mizi suffer and apologizes.
The art book also explains why Sua felt this way toward Mizi, revealing that Sua was the biggest impediment to Mizi's development because of her obsession with Mizi's innocence and the dreams she mentioned, which Sua used as an escape from the harsh reality they both faced. Because she cherished Mizi's innocence, she also shielded her from reality, leaving Mizi unprepared to deal with death and, as a result, left Mizi broken when reality finally caught up with them in Round 1.
Heart[]
Sua's sub song "Heart"’s lyrics depict her struggles and also show her knowledge of their situation and how little time she has left with Mizi. She calls her own dream filthy and mouth poison, which could be interpreted as an example of the constant guilt she feels having to keep Mizi in the dark of the world’s situation.

Behind the Scenes[]
Mizi and Sua were the first characters conceived for Alien Stage. Originally, they were ordinary highschoolers named Mia and Suzy who dreamed of becoming idols together, however they went their separate ways with Mia pursuing an idol career and Suzy going to college.[8] An alien invasion puts the two in an idol competition. Mia and Suzy sing more passionately than anyone else because it was their last chance to fulfil their dream of singing together.[9]
As for the end of the series, Mizi's love for Sua had a large impact on how the writers decided to write KARMA. The original script had Mizi fulfil Hyuna's mission, and no longer believe in Sua as her God, because Mizi was moving forward to the future. However, the writers felt that it would be sad to leave the dead characters forgotten in this way, and it feels unnatural for Mizi to move on from the pain so quickly, which is why she makes the emotional choice to destroy the stage. VIVINOS describes how Mizi's devotion to Sua as a God is an aspect of human nature to escape from pain, an aspect the Segyein could not control, leading to ALNST's downfall.[10]

Fanon[]
Similar to IvanTill, MiziSua is a popular and beloved ship throughout the Alien Stage fandom. Shippers love the dynamic between the two and how devoted and in love with each other they are shown to be, but also consider them doomed due to Sua's death. MiziSua is the most popular Alien Stage femslash ship, and is minorly rivaled by MiziTill, Hyunamizi, and HyunaSua. IvanTill and MiziSua are also usually shipped together, along with Hyuluka at times.
MiziSua is a more recent, but popular femslash ship within fandom spaces due to the popularity of Alien Stage. With MiziSua being a tragic pink x black haired femslash pairing, people have made comparisons to HomuMado, another popular tragic pink x black haired femslash pairing with similar themes. Many people think that HomuMado is a likely inspiration for MiziSua, especially considering the multiple fanart VIVINOS has created for the pairing. This has led to many fanworks of MiziSua as HomuMado and vice versa.
MiziSua currently has over 3,100+ works on AO3. They are the second most written ship in the Alien Stage tag.
