Mizuan is the non-binary ship between Mizuki Akiyama and An Shiraishi from the Project SEKAI fandom.
Canon[]
An is a member of the group Vivid BAD SQUAD while Mizuki is a member of the group 25-ji, Night Cord de. They both attend Kamiyama High School as second-year students. During their first year they were classmates at Class 1-A, while now An is in Class 2-A, and Mizuki is in Class 2-B.
Initial Cards[]
The two are shown first interacting in An's "Charismatic Singer" card's first side story, which takes place before any of the band and event stories moving forward. In this card story, Mizuki decides to attend school and notices An has a fear of ghosts. They prank her using this knowledge, and An feigns exasperation in response. Already, there's an image of how the two interact with each other at the shallowest level; Mizuki as a bit of a trickster who skips school and An is the responsible disciplinary committee member, playing the straight man to their antics.
In Mizuki's "Unyielding Obsession" card's first side story, they head to the rooftop during lunch, just after arriving to school and learning that there will be a mini-test immediately after the lunch period. They find An there, practicing her singing. After a bit of back and forth about how An started singing, Mizuki manages to get An to give them some tips on how to sing better. They're stunned when she sings for them, noting how good she is at it. An points out that Mizuki must really like singing as well, then offers that at a later time they should sing for her, to which Mizuki agrees. As the bell rings, Mizuki makes a last-ditch attempt to skip the rest of the school day, which An immediately sees through, dragging them to class.
KAMIYAMA HIGH FESTIVAL![]
Their relationship is then expanded upon in the "KAMIYAMA HIGH FESTIVAL!" event. Despite not having a prominent role, An shows up in the first and last chapters, as she's the one who calls Mizuki to the festival in the first place. They later thank her and admit they wouldn't have thought to go if it weren't for her. An doesn't say it outright, but she notices the reason why Mizuki didn't want to attend (they wanted to avoid rumors about their appearance). By telling them "it'd be hard for [them] to be the center of attention unless [they] wore something even flashier [than the 2nd years in costume]," she subtly assuages their worries while trying not to push their boundaries. Later in the event the two are separated due to a fear on Mizuki's part of bothering Kohane, which An notices and points out. It's at the end of the event that An finds them on the rooftop again, revealing she'd been looking for them the whole time, and felt guilty enough about it to invite them to the closing ceremony.
In both "KAMIYAMA HIGH FESTIVAL!" and Mizuki's 1st card story for "Rooftop Friendship", they state that An must have invited them to the culture festival as a friend rather than a disciplinary committee member, contrary to what they first believed. In their first side story, they consider that, then decide to tell An more about themself and their past. It's still small talk, but An is noticeably happy about it. When Mizuki asks why, she tells them, "you just told me quite a lot about yourself, didn't you? You often talk about like, gossip, fashion and stuff, but something like this right now rarely ever happens." Now there's a clearer image of the relationship between the two: An as someone subtly trying to reach out to Mizuki, who has a habit of isolation, and Mizuki recognizing that, appreciating it, and beginning to open up in turn.
Secret Distance[]
In the "Feelings That I've Realized" first card story, Mizuki is trying to think of a fun place to go to with the other members of 25-ji, Nightcord de. on their trip. Mizuki decides to show up at school, something An is pleasantly surprised by, and they run their plans by her. There is a moment where, noticing people are gossiping about Mizuki nearby, An scares them off by glaring at them, before quickly changing the subject. Mizuki has a few laughs about An's horrified reaction to their chosen vacation spot - a haunted places tour - before offering to get a drink for her in thanks. They use this as an opportunity to leave school, but Akito and An eventually trap them there. An expresses that she's worried about Mizuki's attendance and that she wants to continue being in the same class as them. This gets Mizuki to agree to start attending school regularly, which is a big contrast from their stance at the beginning of the timeline.
What lies behind. What lies ahead.[]
In Episode 2, some banter happens between the Vivid BAD SQUAD and 25-ji, Nightcord de. members after they run into each other outside the family restaurant, and both Mizuki an An introduce their groups to each other. Ena then asks An what Mizuki is like at school after the latter mentioned she's Mizuki's classmate. Mizuki is shocked and braces themselves for the worst, but An describes Mizuki as a free spirit and mentions being jealous of them getting good grades despite having terrible attendance. Mizuki then says An's making them blush after An compliments Mizuki's teaching skills.
Time to hang out♪[]
In An's "Peak Excitement!" card's second side story, she runs into Mizuki at Main Street. An notices Mizuki carrying around a bag, who mentions that they'd just shopped at a new apparel shop that had opened. Mizuki enthusiastically shows what they'd bought and An smiles saying "it'd be great to see how you [Mizuki] look in it." Mizuki then replies they'd love to take An to the shop someday and how they found things that would fit her as well. Mizuki then asks how her day off with Kohane went and An says it was the best day ever, before mentioning she has to go to practice with her group so she can't tell more. She promises Mizuki that she'll tell everything at lunch the next time Mizuki shows up at school, and the surprised Mizuki agrees to her idea.
Let's study hard![]
While packing her things after school, Mizuki surprises An and asks if they could head home together and stop by an apple pie shop they'd heard about. An apologizes and tells Mizuki she's already planned to practice with her groupmates, but Mizuki tells her it's no biggie. As they're both about to leave, they are approached by their homeroom teacher who proceeds to drop them unexpected news: they both need to attend supplementary classes for the whole next week in order to not repeat a grade but for different reasons (An because of her bad grades, and Mizuki because of their constant absences). They both begrudgingly accept their fate, and are joined by both Akito and Tsukasa as well. On the first day, before class, both An and Mizuki sigh how unmotivated they are. After class begins, while trying to comprehend her worksheets and struggling with the very first one, An takes a look around the room and notices Mizuki is dozing off. And after class, An groans how she wishes she could be as confident as Mizuki is, who ended up sleeping through the whole thing. Eventually when An and Akito find out who'll be tutoring them as well, Mizuki decides to join after Rui suggesting it and An begging them.
During the group's first tutoring session, An attempts to read out the classic literature passages she was having trouble with, before complaining about it being so difficult. When Mizuki asks which words An can't understand, the latter sheepishly admits she doesn't understand anything, and the former becomes determined to go through the passages word-by-word. With everyone's help, An manages to figure out the first phrase's meaning, and Mizuki encourages her to keep it up.

A few hours later, Mizuki and An head out together and An complains how she's so tired, and Mizuki in turn agrees and says their whole body is tired from sitting down all day long. Mizuki then wonders out loud how people manage to sit still in class for hours on like it's no big deal, and An points out how even when Mizuki comes to school, they end up skipping so many classes that it's a rare sight to see them attending school for the whole day. An thanks Mizuki for all the help and Mizuki in turn says they had fun tutoring everyone. The two end up passing by the apple pie shop Mizuki mentioned earlier, and noticing that the establishment is packed up, they decide to go and buy some apple pie to take out for both of them. While waiting for Mizuki, An runs into some of her classmates and gets encouraged by them as they also reveal that they were also willing to help An out with tutoring. Mizuki apologizes for making An wait, while she starts explaining about her encounter with her classmates. Mizuki proceeds to mention how friendly An is and how naturally she ends up becoming friends with people. An then recounts how it's all thanks to Vivid Street and its people that she was able to become so open-minded. She explains how by having encountered various different people throughout her life, clashing with them, getting to know their opinions and stances, she became more accepting of the differences she shared with them, always being able to find some common ground. Mizuki smiles while listening to the story, and then calls her amazing, which An attempts to shrug off. Mizuki also laughs it off before, once again, thinking to themselves how amazing An is.
Mizuki admires how accepting she is of everyone around her, before thinking back on the day they met. Mizuki recounts how during a lunch break on a certain day, they were thinking of skipping the remaining classes because of how troubling they were for them. That is when An approached Mizuki for the first time, showing her eagerness to get to know them better. At first, this catches Mizuki off guard, as they were accustomed to people ostracizing them, instead of showing them kindness. Having noticed An's honest intentions, however, both of them ended up becoming friends and being on first-name terms. Mizuki continues to think of the encounter, expressing their sincere gratitude towards An for treating them with kindness and talking to them like a normal person, instead of ostracizing them because of their appearance. Having noticed them being in deep thought, An asks if something's bothering Mizuki, to which the latter quickly responds that it's nothing. While they continue walking, Mizuki remembers about the apple pies and realizes that they might become cold. Mizuki hands An one of them and they start eating. An expresses how delicious they are and thanks Mizuki for treating her. Mizuki then offers to come back here some other time, which An eagerly accepts, asking Mizuki when they have the free time to do so.
The next day, Mizuki presents An with a gift they made for her the day before, presumably after their hangout - a notebook with vocabulary and conjugations An was struggling with, all compiled and summarized in one place. This occurs to much surprise of Akito and Touya, the former questioning Mizuki's sudden commitment. Mizuki brushes his statement off and explains that they too don't want An to fail the year, before turning to her and telling her to do her best, to which she responds that she will, and that she will treasure the notebook given to her by Mizuki. Rui witnesses the scene and smiles to himself. The group continues to work hard and after coming up with an idea to take a break, Rui and An end up being sent to get snacks and drinks. An thanks Rui for tutoring her, and the conversation between the two quickly turns to Mizuki. Rui mentions how he didn't expect them to go out of their way for An and prepare all the notes for her, also mentioning how they seem to be having more fun than before, implying that An is one of the reasons why. Rui goes on to say that Mizuki must have encountered many people that inspired them, An being one of them, and that having a friend like her must have helped them significantly. An is surprised to hear that, but denies having done anything special, before admitting that she became friends with Mizuki because she liked being in their company. She adds, however, that if Mizuki was glad to be her friend, that would make her very happy. Rui smiles and after that, both of them begin to make their way back.
When the day of the exam comes, An realizes how because of everyone's hard work and support, including Mizuki, she was able to understand the feelings of the author of the passage she encountered on her test. Everyone ends up passing the exams and on the day of the closing ceremony, An and Mizuki end up having the last conversation in their classroom. Mizuki thanks An for all the time they spent together during the year, and while An reciprocates, she emphasizes that no matter if they won't be in the same class anymore, they will still be friends. Mizuki agrees and both of them walk back home with the rest of the group.

Due to their limited interactions outside of card stories, Mizuan is a rarepair. The most popular pairings for the two are Akian/Anhane and Mizuena, though Mizurui is the most popular Kamiyama pairing for Mizuki.

Trivia[]
- Their ship is referred to with the "🎧🎀" emojis.
- They have a height difference of 3 cm, with Mizuki being 163 cm, and An being 160 cm tall.
