Mizulayla is the femslash ship between Yumemizuki Mizuki and Layla from the Genshin Impact fandom.

In Mizuki’s anecdotes, Layla is sent to Aisa Bathhouse on the behest of her advisor in order to recover from her stress and receive therapy from Mizuki. While talking to Mizuki, Layla continues to spiral, thinking that the bath must be her advisor’s last gift to her before she returns to the Akademiya and is expelled. According to the letter from Layla’s advisor, however, Layla seems to have outstanding abilities yet no confidence in them. Mizuki decides more evaluation is necessary and formulates a preliminary treatment plan.
During one of Layla’s sessions, “Dreamwalker” Layla becomes present. Mizuki initially believes this to be an alternate personality, or a mask over Layla’s original personality, to which Layla finds Mizuki’s wording amusing. Mizuki puts an open hand underneath Layla’s chin, asking how many more masks she has. When Layla returns the teasing, asking what Mizuki would do if she said “more than one”, Mizuki warns that lies are of no use. Layla explains that it’s just her, and she only really helps with homework. She says that Layla puts immense pressure on herself, and even though her advisor and classmates praise her greatly, she is always fixating on imperfections and gaps instead. Mizuki warns that if Layla successfully recovers, Dreamwalker Layla will disappear. To Mizuki’s surprise, Layla says she’s looking forward to it, and explains that since she has always been Layla, it will just be more like the mask is being dropped. Daytime Layla then wakes, and immediately panics about possibly having done something she shouldn’t have while sleepwalking. Mizuki calms her down, and reminds her to come back again for her next session the next day. Afterwards, Layla is feeling a bit more positive about herself and her paper.

Mizulayla gained popularity after the release of Mizuki’s two anecdotes, which featured her and Layla. In particular, the second one with Dreamwalker Layla and the scene where Mizuki holds Layla’s chin fueled the ship. The tension in their conversation, which to some presents as flirting, is also an attractive point. While Mizuki and Layla’s interaction was generally well received, some instead saw Mizuki as somewhat aggressive towards Layla and insensitive about her condition.
Since the anecdotes are their only interaction, Mizulayla is a small ship. Even before the anecdotes, though, going back to before Mizuki officially released, connections were made about Mizuki being able to provide therapy to Layla for her struggles. The two are also paired together for sharing themes related to sleep/dreaming and having aesthetically congruent colour schemes.
