MomoMai is the femslash ship between Mai Zenin and Momo Nishimiya from the Jujutsu Kaisen fandom.
Canon[]
Mai and Momo are both students at the Kyoto Prefectural Jujutsu High School. Momo is one year older than Mai and she is her senior. The two are shown to be close friends along with Kasumi Miwa.
The two appear together for the first time during the Tokyo-Kyoto Exchange Event. Before the event begins, Principal Gakuganji calls in all student to convience them that they should not let Yuji Itadori, Sukuna's vessel survive the competition. Both Momo and Mai don't seem opposed to the idea. During the event, when Momo meets Nobara, the former makes a comment about how Mai is a "watered-down version of Maki", angering Momo. In response, Momo laments about the sexism Mai faces in the Zenin clan and defends her, showing that the two are close and that Momo will come to Mai's defense.
When Nobara almost defeats Momo during their fight, Mai shoots the latter with a rubber bullet. This prevents the Tokyo student from knocking Momo out. Mai says out loud how happy she is that she managed to make a hit from her distant position. Later on Mai calls Momo to tell her not to worry and to continue supporting them by surveying the situation from the sky. Mai says they'll all be in trouble without Momo's help. Pensive Nishimiya proceeds to reply with something, but Mai cuts her short saying that everything is fine.
After Mai is killed, Maki brings her corpse out of the building, where Momo is already waiting for them. Her cheeks are flushed meaning she has flown a great distance for Mai. Momo tears up and says that she knew Mai shouldn't have gone to face the Zenin clan. She then holds her dead body in her arms and stays there.
Fanon[]
Although being a minor pairing, the ship started to gain popularity due to Momo's reaction to Mai's death. Due's to Mai's sexuality being ambiguous with the creator confirming she can experience same-sex attraction, fans believe MomoMai has certain relevance.[1] It is considered Mai's second most popular ship after NobaMai.
In fanfiction the pair appears together with another ship, MechaMiwa, their fellow Kyoto students.
