Monika x MC is the het ship between Protagonist and Monika from the Doki Doki Literature Club! fandom.

Canon

While the protagonist is choosing someone to spend the weekend with, if he picks Monika, Monika is very happy. However, Natsuki and Yuri don't allow that, telling her that her work is the easiest. After they finish scolding her, Monika tells the protagonist to pick someone else. Despite her being a bit sad, the protagonist chooses either Yuri or Natsuki. Once the weekend is over, the Protagonist thinks about how the festival will go, believing it will be great because of Monika.

Once he enters the Literature Club, he finds Monika there by herself. Monika thanks him for being so early, and the protagonist says he believed at least Yuri would be at the club by now. Monika is surprised at how he didn't bring Sayori with him, where he says she overslept. Monika laughs, saying he should take more responsibility for her. As Monika mentions Sayori and the Protagonist's exchange the other day, he is very surprised, as he didn't tell Monika about that. Monika tells him she knows a lot more then he thinks, which sends a chill down his spine. Monika asks him if he wants to check out the pamphlets, and as he grabs one, he agrees that they turned out very nice. After he sees Sayori's poem, he runs out of the classroom, and Monika tells him to not strain himself.

In Act 3, they have many interactions together. If the player chooses to delete Monika, she asks for help, many times. She asks the Protagonist if he deleted her file, however, she is ignored. Monika wonders how he could delete her, saying how she loves him and trusts him. After she tells him how rude he is and leaves, she quickly comes back, wondering why she still loves him. As she apologizes for everything she's done to him, she brings back the rest of the girls for the protagonist to be happy.

Fanon

Even though the Protagonist and Monika don't have too much interactions, this ship is one of the most popular in the fandom. Along with that, it is currently Monika's 3rd most written ship on AO3, and the Protagonist's 2nd most written. Monika x MC sailed mostly because fans found the ship very cute, with all their interactions. While the mod isn't canon, this ship also gained some fans from the Fanmade Mod “Monika After Story”.

This ship rivals Sayonika and Sayori x MC, Monika and the Protagonist's most popular ships.
