Moonlight Bridge Trio is the poly ship between Makoto Yuki, Aigis, and Ryoji Mochizuki from the Persona fandom.
Canon[]
Makoto met Aigis and Death (Ryoji’s incomplete form of Death) at the Moonlight Bridge ten years ago, the day his parents were killed. Aigis, barely defeated and she is unable to kill Death, decides to seal him inside Makoto as a child. After that incident, the trauma of losing his parents, Makoto unknowingly suppressed his memories of Aigis and Death.
Ten years later, in 2009, Makoto only interacted with Pharos (Ryoji’s other form) before meeting Aigis in Yakushima. Like Makoto, Aigis has no memory of the incident from ten years ago. Yet, she feels attached to him, and Pharos slowly recovers his memories from defeated Arcana Shadows on each full moon operation.
On December 2nd, it implies Makoto has regained his lost memories from ten years ago, just like Aigis and Ryoji.
If Makoto spares Ryoji’s life, he and Aigis are relieved to see Ryoji alive.
Social Links[]
Aigis and Ryoji have social links for Makoto’s route, except Ryoji only has one social link with Makoto, Pharos. Makoto becomes much closer to Aigis than Ryoji in both FES and Portable.
In "Reload, " Ryoji receives his own Link Episode in November, during which Makoto gets to hang out with him on certain days before December 2nd.
Film[]
In the third film, Makoto spends more time with Ryoji than Aigis and helps students in Gekkoukan High who need help. Aigis secretly spies on Makoto, who feels jealous and hostile toward Ryoji. Unaware that Ryoji is Death and it was Aigis’ duty to protect Makoto from him. During the Kyoto trip, Aigis interrupted Makoto and Ryoji’s conversations and interactions. The following day, Aigis is willing to follow Makoto, Ryoji, and Junpei around Kyoto instead of hanging out with the girls.
On December 2nd, Makoto, Aigis, and Ryoji remember their pasts during the Dark Hour. Aigis and Ryoji remember at the Moonlight Bridge, while Makoto remembers in his room. After Makoto fully remembers his past, he goes straight to the Moonlight Bridge to look for Aigis and Ryoji. This shows Makoto deeply caring for both Aigis and Ryoji since they are important to him.
Weird Masquerade[]
In Act 3-4, Aigis has been preventing Sakuya from hang out with Ryoji alone and that’s why she rarely leave Sakuya’s side. She refuses to let Sakuya shake hand with Ryoji when they first meet in November. It is because of Aigis, Makoto and Ryoji rarely hang out alone. This was seen in both in school, Kyoto trip, and day offs.
Fanon[]
The Moonlight Bridge Trio is a popular fanship in the Persona 3 fanbase. Fans portray Makoto’s relationship with Aigis and Ryoji as a love triangle or polyamory. Their relationship is seen in fanart and fanfiction where Makoto and Ryoji are portrayed as bisexual men and Aigis is the only straight into their relationship. It makes it sound nice Makoto is dating Ryoji and Aigis at the same time. In Reload, Ryoji’s Link Episode confirms he starts to develop romantic feelings for Makoto just in the same way he has with Kotone, Makoto’s counterpart, in his Social Link with her.
